  • Patent number: 11604623
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method mitigates loss of communication between participants in a communication session when a local participant attempts to speak without manually unmuting the electronic device. The electronic device includes an image capturing device, a user interface device having a microphone, and a controller. The controller is communicatively coupled to the image capturing device and to the user interface device. The controller monitors, during the communication session with a second electronic device, an image stream received from the image capturing device for movements by the local participant in the communication session. The controller autonomously generates a prompt to unmute the microphone in response to determining that the microphone is muted while identifying at least one of a speaking movement of a mouth of the local participant to speak or a gesture by the local participant that correlates with the participant wanting to speak.

  • Patent number: 11605365
Abstract: An electronic device includes a device housing and one or more displays presenting one or more user actuation targets defining one or more virtual buttons in a predefined arrangement relative to a first end of the device housing. One or more sensors detect a condition of the electronic device, such as an approaching object, change in the direction of gravity, or an object tapping or pushing the electronic device. One or more processors cause, in response to the one or more sensors detecting the condition, the one or more displays to present the one or more user actuation targets defining the one or more virtual buttons in another predefined arrangement that is different from the predefined arrangement.

  • Patent number: 11604891
Abstract: A sensitive content display control system determines whether to display sensitive content on a computing device display, such as on a lock screen. The system attempts to authenticate a user of the computing device, and does not display the sensitive content if the user is not authenticated. If the user is authenticated, then the system determines whether anyone in addition to the user is looking at the computing device display. If the user is authenticated and no one else is looking at the computing device display, then the sensitive content is displayed. However, if the user is authenticated and at least one additional person is looking at the computing device display, then the sensitive content is not displayed.

  • Patent number: 11606456
Abstract: One or more processors of an electronic device detect a communication device electronically in communication with a content presentation companion device operating as a primary display for the electronic device and including a first ultra-wide band component. The one or more processors determine, with a second ultra-wide band tag component carried by the electronic device, a distance between the electronic device and the content presentation companion device using an ultra-wide band ranging process. The one or more processors dynamically enhance a user interface of the content presentation companion device as a function of the distance between the electronic device and the content presentation companion device. The enhancing magnifies a user interface element being presented on the content presentation companion device.

  • Patent number: 11606686
Abstract: One or more sensors of an electronic device detect either authorization of an authorized user or a cessation of physical contact between an authorized user of the electronic device and the electronic device. A location detector determines a location of the electronic device when the authorization of the authorized user occurs or where the cessation of physical contact occurs. A geofence manager establishes a geofence about the location in response to detecting the authorization of the authorized user or the cessation of physical contact. One or more processors operate the electronic device in a normal mode of operation while the electronic device remains within the geofence and in an enhanced security mode of operation when the electronic device exits the geofence.

  • Patent number: 11606406
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method are provided that autonomously mitigates degraded transmissions of an audio/image stream from an electronic device to a video communication session. The electronic device communicates at least one of an image stream and an audio stream to other second electronic device(s). In response to receiving an indication that the at least one of the image stream and the audio stream is degraded, a controller presents a transmission quality degraded report using at least one display device to prompt mitigation. The controller can configure the electronic device to mitigate the degraded at least one of the image stream and the audio stream by altering the at least one of the image stream and the audio stream to support transmission via a lower data rate. The electronic device communicates the altered at least one of the image stream and the audio stream to the session.

  • Patent number: 11606536
Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method mitigate changes in ambient lighting of a local participant in a video communication session to avoid a distraction to other participant(s) using second electronic device(s). A controller of the electronic device monitors a current lighting level in an image stream captured and provided by an image capturing device(s) of the electronic device to the second electronic device(s). The electronic device communicates, via a network interface, a live version of the image stream to the video communication session while the current light level is at or above a lighting level threshold. In response to the current light level not being above the threshold, the controller responds by: (i) turning on a light source to illuminate at least one object that is being presented within the image stream; or (ii) communicating an alternate image stream, via the network interface, to the video communication session.

  • Patent number: 11600168
Abstract: Systems, devices, and technical methods of the present disclosure leverage digital visitor logs from confinement facilities to identify people of interest that may be involved in incidents to which first responders are dispatched. When a phone call is received at phone public safety access point, a first query including a name associated with the call is transmitted to a digital visitor log for a confinement facility. A digital response to the first query identifies a visitee who was visited by a visitor by that name while the visitee was in confinement. The visitee's name is then transmitted in a second query to a digital repository containing release records; a digital response indicates the visitee was released before the call was received. An electronic notification that identifies the visitee is transmitted to a device associated with an agent who is responding to the call.

  • Patent number: 11600274
Abstract: A process for recognizing and responding to a detected audio inquiry by gathering information distributed amongst users and providing a calculated result includes monitoring audio communications and detecting an audio inquiry from a first electronic communication device. It is determined then the audio inquiry is of a distributed information gathering and mathematical operation type and, in response, a plurality of target electronic communication devices that are capable of providing partial answers to the audio inquiry are identified and a request for a partial answer transmitted to each. Corresponding partial answers are received and a mathematical operation performed on the partial answers to generate a final answer to the audio inquiry different from the corresponding partial answers. • Patent number: 11601852
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for providing data connectivity with various types of continuity. One apparatus includes a transceiver and a processor that provisions a UE with a continuity selection policy comprising at least one prioritized rule for selecting a data session continuity type from a plurality of data session continuity types supported by a mobile communication network based on at least one characteristic of a request to establish a data session. The transceiver receives a request to establish a data session from the UE device, wherein the request specifies a particular data session continuity type. The processor establishes a first data connection with the UE device in response to the request, the first data connection having the particular data session continuity type. Here, the first data connection includes a PDU session between the UE device and the mobile communication network.

  • Patent number: 11601987
Abstract: For collision handling between shortened Transmission Time Interval (sTTI) and Transmission Time Interval (TTI) transmissions, a method determines a collision between user equipment (UE) uplink transmission resources in a first TTI 16 of a first TTI length and uplink transmission resources in a second TTI 16 of a second TTI length. The method further transmits a first uplink data transmission block (TB) in the first TTI and a second uplink data TB in the second TTI. The method interrupts the transmission of the first uplink data TB before transmission of the second uplink data TB. The method receives an indication that indicates whether to resume transmission of the first uplink data TB. The method determines to resume the transmission of the first uplink TB based on the indication.
