  • Patent number: 4693610
Abstract: Apparatus for food preparation comprises a bowl, a rotatable tool within this bowl, and an arm which extends over the bowl and which contains a drive device for rotating the tool. The drive device includes a pinion to engage the drive shaft of the tool, and this pinion is fixed to, or preferably integral with, the drive shaft to define a drive assembly for the tool. This drive assembly is detachably mounted within a recess provided in the arm. An opening is formed in the arm through which the recess communicates with the exterior, and this opening is arranged to allow passage of said drive assembly therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4677749
Abstract: A blade set for an electrical knife comprises two parallel extending blades arranged adjacent with their inner faces facing and joined to one another. In use, for example, for slicing bread, the two blades are alternately reciprocated by the drive motor of the knife. Each blade has a series of indentations in its lower edge between which projecting teeth are defined. The tip of each tooth has a small concave notch, in the form of a circular arc, which extends between the edges of the tooth and which has a chamfer. The ends of this notch form two spaced points.

  • Patent number: 4659908
Abstract: An electric oven has a number of heating elements for heating the cooking chamber. A multi-position switch is arranged to couple power to all of the heating elements, such that the chamber can be used as an oven, or to only selected heating elements such that a grilling operation can be performed. However, when grilling it is best if the door of the cooking chamber is at least partially open so that air can circulate. The invention provides a mechanical linkage between the door and the switch such that if the switch is moved into its grill operating position, the door is automatically opened. In addition, if the door of the cooking chamber is closed, the switch is automatically moved into its oven operating position.

  • Patent number: 4648720
Abstract: A domestic electrical appliance for food preparation has a generally cylindrical bowl and a vertical shaft rotatably mounted in this bowl. A beating/emulsifying tool of the invention is arranged to be mounted on the shaft. The tool comprises a disc arranged to extend near the bottom of the bowl and to be rotated by the vertical shaft. A series of radially directed projections are formed on one or both of the faces of the disc which can be used alone in the appliance for the preparation of emulsions such as mayonnaise. A cage can additionally be mounted in the bowl to cooperate with the disc for the effective beating of foodstuffs such as egg whites and cream.

  • Patent number: 4467707
Abstract: A domestic coffee maker has a water reservoir and a water heater housed in the casing, and tubes for feeding water from the reservoir to the heater, and for feeding hot water to a discharge spout. The spout is arranged above a filter for holding ground coffee in a filter cone, and at the bottom of the filter there is an outflow aperture. A coffee jug is arranged to be supported on the casing to receive coffee flowing from the outflow aperture. A closure valve is provided for the outflow aperture and comprises a stopper carried on a pivotally mounted arm. The arm is displaceable by an opening lever mounted to be movable relative to the casing upon the removal from and positioning of the jug on the casing. When the jug is removed the opening lever displaces the arm such that the outflow aperture is closed by the jug.

  • Patent number: 4464807
Abstract: A domestic floor mop comprises an absorbent band mounted on a bracket carried at the end of a handle. A rotary torsion head is engaged with the band and is rotatably mounted in the bracket. A fastener is fixed to each end of the band, and the fasteners are monted on the bracket for movement between a washing position, in which said fasteners are spaced apart and said band is deployed in a plane, and a wringing position in which said fasteners are closer together such that said band is gathered towards said rotary head to permit twisting of the band upon rotation of said rotary head. The fasteners are each slidably mounted in a respective guide carried by said bracket and extending in a plane parallel to the deployment plane of said band.

  • Patent number: 4405998
Abstract: A mixer arranged for crushing food materials immersed in a liquid comprises a motor unit and a mixing foot. A shaft extends within the mixing foot and is coupled at one end to the motor unit. At its other end the shaft carries a mixing screw which is housed in a cover carried by said mixing foot. The mixing screw is movable between a safety position, in which it is located in the cover, and a mixing position, in which it projects outwardly of the cover. The mixing screw is moved into its mixing position against the action of elastic restoring means by a force resulting from the screwing effect in the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4377045
Abstract: An ironing press includes an ironing table equipped with an endless conveyor belt mounted on two spaced parallel rollers and a drive for rotating one of the rollers to drive the belt. For an ironing operation, a heatable pressing plate is moved near to the ironing table. In order to enable the conveyor belt to have sufficient strength and inextensibility to be driven by the rollers and yet provide a suitable ironing surface the conveyor belt is made up of a drive belt carrying a cushion and a textile covering enclosing the outer surface of the cushion. Friction between the cushion and the covering acts to drive the covering with the drive belt.

  • Patent number: 4362277
Abstract: A domestic electrical food processing appliance has a work bowl supported on a base and a detachable cover fixed on said bowl by a bayonet device. An electrical motor is mounted in the base and drives an output shaft which extends within the bowl and carries a cutting tool. The motor is actuated by depressing a push-button slidably mounted in a boss of the base. A safety bolt is pivotably mounted in the boss and urged into a locking position preventing depression of the push-button. The cover carries an arm which, when the cover is moved to its closed position, pivots the safety bolt out of its locking position to allow depression of the push-button. The engagement of the arm with the safety bolt also prevents removal of the cover from the bowl while the push-button is depressed.

  • Patent number: 4307287
Abstract: The electric cooking appliance has a casing for receiving a removable vessel in which food to be cooked is placed. An electrical heating element is provided in the casing for heating the vessel. The supply of electrical power to the heating element is controlled by a control device including a supply switch and a manually settable control circuit arranged during the normal cooking phase to intermittently place the supply switch in its conducting state so that power is supplied to the heating element intermittently. Prior to the normal cooking phase, the control circuit maintains the supply switch continuously in its conducting state for an initial period of time which is independent of the manual setting of the control circuit.

  • Patent number: 4271349
Abstract: A water heater for a domestic coffee maker comprises a hot plate which is heated by an electrical resistance heater. A cavity is formed within the hot plate. The cavity extends substantially parallel to the top and bottom surfaces of the plate and has a closed end within the plate and an open end in the peripheral surface of the plate. The cavity is divided transversely by a partition which defines together with the internal walls of the cavity, a substantially U-shaped water circulation passage within the cavity. Water flowing through the U-shaped passage is thus heated by the heater.

  • Patent number: 4213569
Abstract: A domestic electrical appliance has a base supporting a work bowl. A removable cover for closing the bowl is fixed to the base by a rotary coupling. A motor unit is housed in the base and rotates a working tool positioned within the bowl. A push button is provided for controlling operation of the motor unit. Depression of the push button to actuate the motor unit also prevents removal of the cover from the bowl. A safety lock is provided which moves automatically to its locked position upon depression of the push button and in its locked position prevents the push button returning to its initial retracted position.

  • Patent number: 3970258
Abstract: The cutting blades of an electrically driven mincing machine are carried by a sleeve which fits over a driving element at the top of a vertical motor-driven shaft. The sleeve and driving element are provided internally and externally respectively with driving ramps which extend helically from bottom to top thereof in the direction of rotation of the driving element and which have active surfaces which engage one with the other during driving of the sleeve. The sleeve and driving element are also provided internally and externally respectively with retaining ramps which extend helically from bottom to top thereof in a direction opposite the direction of rotation of the driving element and which have active surfaces engageable one with the other where the driving element stops rotating thereby to prevent escape of the sleeve in an upward direction.
