Patent number: 8167706Abstract: Players participate in bingo games through player stations each having a suitable player interface. The player may manually select between multiple modes in which the player's bingo card representations are daubed. In one daub mode, once a player is assigned a bingo card representation and a game designation set is associated with the bingo card representation, daubing the bingo card representation must be performed manually by the player at the player's respective player station using a suitable interface at the player station. In a card daub mode, one or more of the player's bingo card representations is automatically daubed in response to a card daub input made by the player at the player station using a suitable input device. In a game daub mode, one or more of the player's bingo card representations are daubed without any action by the player other than the player's selection of the game daub mode and the player's submission of a request to enter a bingo game offered by the system.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2007Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventors: Clifton E. Patent number: 8157638Abstract: A method includes displaying a button graphic on a touch screen video display device associated with a gaming machine. The button graphic defines a button display area on the touch screen video display device which may be touched to cause a touch screen controller associated with the touch screen video display device to generate a game feature input. In response to the game feature input, a game feature in a game offered through the gaming machine is modified in some fashion. In addition to displaying the button graphic, the button graphic is modified to add a first message regarding the game feature. This modification of the button graphic is performed in association with a modification of the game feature, and the first message includes text indicating that the game feature has been modified.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2008Date of Patent: April 17, 2012Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventor: Karen J. Method, apparatus, and program product for distributing random number generation on a gaming network
Patent number: 8100755Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and program products are disclosed for providing distributed RNG calculation capability. Generally, gaming machines cooperate on a gaming network to calculate a result for a RNG algorithm. A preferred system uses peer machines to perform partial RNG calculations, but server machines may also be used. One method calculates a first partial RNG calculation at a first peer machine using a seed value. The first peer machine transmits results of the first partial calculation to a second peer machine, which completes the RNG calculation. Some algorithms may include a step of combining partial results from two or more gaming machines. A preferred system uses a RNG state tracker and a seed tracker operating on a RNG master machine. This machine initializes a partial RNG with a seed value, and then tracks the state of the partial RNG using results from the completed calculation obtained over the network.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2009Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventor: Joseph R. Patent number: 8100752Abstract: A method displays a number of symbol locations with a respective graphic symbol at each symbol location. Each symbol location may comprise an actual reel or simulated reel which is capable of displaying any one of a number of graphic symbols included in a group of presentation symbols. This group of presentation symbols includes a target symbol. In response to a first player input, each of the number of symbol locations is caused to conduct a respective symbol change process one or more times to change the graphic symbol included at each respective symbol location to a respective one of the graphic symbols included in the group of presentation symbols. The symbol locations all ultimately stop at the end of a game cycle to show a respective graphic symbol included in the group of presentation symbols, and an award may be presented to the player at the end of the game cycle depending upon the particular graphic symbols shown at the various symbol locations.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2006Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventors: Brian Alexander Watkins, Galen Tanner Svanas

Patent number: 8092294Abstract: At least one pool of game play records is stored at a central processing system. Each game play record includes a record index selected from a set of unique index values, each associated with a different result type. A record index associated with a particular game play record is communicated from the central processing system to the player terminal in response to a game play request which a player has entered at the player terminal. The player terminal responds to the received record index by generating display commands using data at the player terminal to produce a graphic representation at the player terminal. This graphic representation is consistent with the result type associated with the index value comprising the particular record index which has been communicated to the player terminal.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2007Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventors: Joseph R. Patent number: 8029349Abstract: A method includes receiving a game play input preferably in a gaming network. This game play input specifies a wager in a primary game in which a player is participating through the network, and is typically entered through a player station connected in the network. A secondary game play is generated in response to the game play input. This generation of the secondary game play is separate from any actions taken in the gaming network in connection with the primary game in response to the game play input. The secondary game play includes one or more entries in a secondary game that is distinct from the primary game, and the number of entries included in the secondary game play is determined by the wager in the primary game. Each entry included in the secondary game play is associated with a chance in the secondary game and is ultimately analyzed to identify a result of the secondary game play for the secondary game.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2005Date of Patent: October 4, 2011Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventor: Jefferson C. Patent number: 8029352Abstract: Game play requests in a bingo gaming system are associated with different play characteristic classes and collected into different game play groups simultaneously according to play characteristic class. Once a sufficient number of game play requests are collected in a respective game play group, a bingo game is conducted with the respective game play group and results are returned to the players associated with that game play group. Play characteristic class may be defined on the basis of the speed at which players take any required actions to claim results in a game so that players who may take the required actions relatively slowly will not be grouped for games with players who may take the required actions relatively quickly.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2008Date of Patent: October 4, 2011Assignee: Multimedia Games, Inc.Inventors: Clifton E.
