  • Patent number: 5673392
Abstract: A method of executing communication programs in a modem apparatus. A plurality of communication programs used to perform data communication or facsimile communication are stored in an internal memory space (e.g., ROM) in a processor after they have been compressed. A communication program to be executed in ROM is decompressed and developed in a work area external to the processor (e.g., RAM). The developed communication program is then executed by the processor. The data decompression is performed according to an exclusive program decompression program or a program in the communication programs which is adapted to provide a data decompression function.

  • Patent number: 5667395
Abstract: A communication card and the structure of a jack therefor. The end face of the card is provided with a slit-like aperture. Into the aperture there is inserted a base plate having a thickness smaller than the width of the aperture so as to allow insertion into the interior of the card and removal from the card. The base plate is provided with a notch directed to the outside when viewed from the card. The notch passes through the base plate in the direction of its thickness. The jack is formed by utilizing this notch. The plug, on the other hand, is of a rectangular parellelpiped shape and is electrically coupled to a cord. The inner surface of the notch is configured so as to be able to receive the plug. When the plug is inserted, the notch receives and holds the plug. At that time, the notch receives and holds the plug in such a manner that the direction of the longest edge among the edges of the plug, or the extending direction of the cord is parallel to the major planes of the card.

  • Patent number: 5604667
Abstract: An opening is formed in a region of a circuit board opposite a vibration region E of a piezoelectric element. The piezoelectric element is mounted to the circuit board, and electrical connections extend between and support the piezoelectric element from the circuit board by a solder. The soldered connection portions are surrounded by a bonding agent. An opening in the circuit board prevents any excess bonding agent from invading the vibration region E of the piezoelectric element, and the bonding agent assists in dispersing stresses exerted on the circuit board thereby minimizing the stresses transferred to the piezoelectric element.

  • Patent number: 5512822
Abstract: A magnetic sensor includes a member having a magnetic contour anisotropy. A counterpart yoke is disposed above a magnet. The thickness of the counterpart yoke is equal to or slightly smaller than the resolution. The counterpart yoke has a magnetic contour anisotropy for restraining the divergence of the magnetic flux from the magnet. The resolution can be prevented from being reduced depending on the distance between a medium and a magnetic sensing element. At the same time, the magnet can be miniaturized.

  • Patent number: 5473394
Abstract: A convergence measurement apparatus for a color cathode-ray tube is capable of high precision convergence measurement by elimination of luminance omission portions occurring in the screen. A dot pattern displayed on a color cathode-ray tube is picked up by an image pickup camera and is stored in an image memory. A signal movement amount control unit is arranged to move a beam spot of the dot pattern displayed on the cathode-ray tube by a predetermined pitch in a horizontal or vertical direction. Corresponding dot pattern shifting occurs to sequentially record images of discrete colors for a more accurate measure of convergence. For example, if a gap between adjacent phosphor elements of one color (for example red) is defined as one pitch, three sequential red dot patterns can be each shifted by 1/3 of a pitch and thereafter picked up and stored in the image memory of dot pattern data.

  • Patent number: 5463664
Abstract: A DQPSK delay detection circuit is provided that can securely reproduce stable clock signal. An absolute value circuit ABS(14) calculates an absolute value of I signal. An absolute value circuit ABS(15) calculates an absolute value of Q signal. Subtraction circuit(16) generates a P signal according to the difference between the absolute values of I signal and Q signal. Zero-cross detection circuit(11) detects zero-cross timing of the P signal to input it as a timing signal to the DPLL(64). The zero-cross timing of the P signal can be detected even when the data pattern of I or Q signal makes it impossible to detect the zero-cross timing from I and Q signal. Because the zero-cross timing of the P signal has a variation less than that of the zero-cross timing determined from I or Q signal, it is becomes possible to reproduce stable clock signals and in turn reliability of data demodulation can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5461535
Abstract: In a rotor which is rotated for adjusting capacitance provided by a variable capacitor, a portion for receiving a tool for rotating the same is defined by a through-hole. Thus, it is possible to protect the rotor from application of a pressing force from the tool, thereby suppressing change of a clearance between the rotor and a stator. Consequently, it is possible to stabilize the capacitance as the capacitor is being adjusted, as well as to reduce setting drift that causes the capacitance as adjusted disadvantageously to change when the tool is separated from the rotor.
