Abstract: Object oriented design strategies and patterns are applied to financial data processing systems for processing and modeling of financial products (also referred to as financial instruments) with an emphasis being on derivative products. The system employs valuation independent, well-defined financial components (also referred to as financial events) that can be combined to build new financial structures. A general purpose software model is provided for representing the structure and characteristics of these products. A declarative specification language is provided to describe financial instruments in a consistent manner that lends itself to processing in such an object oriented system. A general traversal process is provided that can be applied to the macro structure of a financial instrument to implement various functions that produce results based on such information, such as the stream of financial events associated with the instrument, or the pricing or valuation of the instrument.

  • Publication number: 20140232298
Abstract: The invention relates to a control sys tem (100) for an ambient light environment in a room in a hospital environment. The control system is configured to time and synchronize light effects of the ambient light environment (170, 190) in response to sensor signals (111-113) from patient location sensors (121) or other sensors (122,123) for detecting if a clinical instrument is activated, moved or taken into use or for detecting heart rate. Light effects may be used by the clinical personnel to improve quality and speed of the examination and to create a calming atmosphere for the patient. However, different light effects are required at different times and for different durations. Therefore, timing of the light effects relative to sensor signals may improve workflow and patient comfort.

  • Publication number: 20140232201
Abstract: A power transmitter (101) transfers power to a power receiver (105) using a wireless inductive power signal. The power transmitter (101) comprises an inductor (103) for providing the power signal and a power signal generator (207) for driving the inductor (103) to provide the power signal. The power receiver (105) comprises an inductor (107) for receiving the power signal and a transmitter (305) which transmits data messages to the power transmitter (101). The data are communicated by load modulation of the power signal in repeating load modulation intervals which are separated by intervening time intervals. The power transmitter (101) transmits data to the power receiver (105) by modulating the power signal with a message during the intervening time intervals and the power receiver demodulates the data in these time intervals.

  • Patent number: 8807137
Abstract: A magnetic force system uses a magnetic implant sized and configured to be inserted in the pharynx and another magnetic implant sized and configured to be inserted in the tongue, palate, or pharynx. The system establishes different regions of magnetic interaction between the two implants across the airway, attracting and repelling, such that attractive interaction in one region of the implants combines with repelling interaction in another region of the implants, to provide a “hinge” structure. Alternatively, a magnetic force system that uses three magnetic implants sized and configured to be inserted in the tongue, pharynx, and palate, respectively. The tongue implant is attracted to the palatal implant, and repels the pharyngeal implant, forming a modified “hinge” structure. Forces of magnetic attracting bring tissue together to form a magnetic hinge joint, providing an anchor to stabilize the regions where repelling forces work to separate tissue to keep the airway open.

  • Patent number: 8813188
Abstract: Pairing is achieved between a host communications device and a peripheral communications device, in order to establish an ad hoc wireless or wired network. A device identification, relating uniquely to the peripheral device, is displayed on the host device. In order to accept the pairing, the user confirms that the device identification displayed on the host device matches that printed on the peripheral device, and then completes the pairing procedure by pressing a key on the peripheral device, or, if Near Field Communication (NFC) techniques are implemented in the devices, by placing the peripheral device in contact with, or sufficiently close to, the host device. Thus, secure pairing is achieved, without requiring a complex user interface on the peripheral device.
