Patent number: 8398452Abstract: A single reed turkey gobble call includes a barrel through which a user blows air. A reed assembly is positioned in the barrel. The reed assembly includes a tone board and a reed positioned against the tone board. A wedge engages the reed, and the reed is partially clamped between the wedge and the tone board such that a distal end of the reed is free to vibrate against the tone board. A vertex is defined on the tone board at the location where the reed separates from the tone board. The wedge is axially offset from the vertex in the axial direction away from the distal reed end by a wedge offset distance to produce a gobble sound.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2012Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Down-N-Dirty Outdoors, Inc.Inventor: Mark Coin

Patent number: 8400064Abstract: A transient voltage suppressor circuit is disclosed for a plurality (N) of LEDs connected in series. Only one zener diode is created for connection to each node between LEDs, and a pair of zener diodes (the “end” zener diodes) are connected to the two pins (anode and cathode pads) of the series string. Therefore, only N+1 zener diodes are used. The end zener diodes (Q1 and Qn+1) effectively create back-to-back zener diodes across the two pins since the zener diodes share a common p+ substrate. The n+ regions of the end zener diodes Q1 and Qn+1 have the highest breakdown voltage requirement and must be placed relatively far apart. Adjacent n+ regions of the intermediate zener diodes have a much lower breakdown voltage requirement so may be located close together. The zener diodes may be placed within a very small footprint or can be larger for better suppressor performance.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2009Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignees: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V., Philips Lumileds Lighting Company, LLCInventors: Yajun Wei, William D. Patent number: 8397604Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cutting member (6) of a shaver (1) includes the steps of providing a plate-shaped carrier (10), cutting at least one cutting element (9a, 9b) free from the carrier except for a residual connection between a base (15, 23) of the cutting element and the carrier, and bending the cutting element relative to the carrier. The steps of cutting free and bending are performed simultaneously using a tool (11) having a combined punching and bending effect. By using such a tool, the action of cutting free is obtained by a tearing process which does not lead to a free space and a loss of material between the cutting element (9a, 9b) and the carrier (10). As a result, the strength of the carrier is not reduced by such a free space or loss of material.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2007Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Hette Akkerman, Jan Van Driel, Willem Minkes

Patent number: 8399855Abstract: A photodiode (200), for instance a PN or a PIN photodiode, is disclosed. The photodiode receives incident radiation having first and second spectral distributions, where the first spectral distribution is spectrally shifted from the second spectral distribution. The photodiode has a first semiconductor layer (211) capable of absorbing incident radiation (231) having a first spectral distribution without generating a photocurrent, while simultaneously transmitting incident radiation having a second spectral distribution to the intrinsic layer (212) for generating a photocurrent (213). The photodiode may be used in connection with detecting the presence of target molecules that has been labeled with labeling agents, such as fluorophores or quantum dots. The labeling agents are characterized by the Stokes shift and, therefore, they emit fluorescent radiation having the second spectral distribution that is spectrally shifted from the illumination radiation having the first spectral distribution.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2007Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Pieter Jan Van Der Zaag, Ian French, Nigel David Young
