  • Patent number: 8368394
Abstract: An arrangement and a method for influencing and/or detecting magnetic particles in a region of action is disclosed, which arrangement comprises: —selection means for generating a magnetic selection field having a pattern in space of its magnetic field strength such that a first sub-zone having a low magnetic field strength and a second sub-zone having a higher magnetic field strength are formed in the region of action, —drive means for changing the position in space of the two sub-zones in the region of action by means of a magnetic drive field so that the magnetization of the magnetic particles changes locally, —receiving means for acquiring signals, which signals depend on the magnetization in the region of action, which magnetization is influenced by the change in the position in space of the first and second sub-zone, wherein the selection means and/or the drive means and/or the receiving means comprises at least partially a litz wire/stranded wire.

  • Patent number: 8369449
Abstract: A method (600) of communicating a plurality of data bits over L diversity channels uses a constellation set comprising a plurality (L) of M-point quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) constellations corresponding to the L diversity channels. The constellations do not exhibit overlapping data points, and provide full diversity. The method includes mapping (650) k*L data bits to L QAM transmission symbols in the L QAM constellation sets, and transmitting (660) the L QAM symbols where M=2k*L. Each of each of the k*L data bits is directly mapped into all of the L QAM symbols of the QAM constellation set, and for all combinations of k*L bits, changing a value of one of k*L data bits changes all of the L symbols.

  • Patent number: 8368327
Abstract: The system periodically measures the battery voltage of the toothbrush and the current in a stator portion of the motor for the appliance. The amplitude of movement of the toothbrush workpiece is determined from the measured stator current. A circuit/control program changes the duty cycle or pulse width of the drive signal from the motor if the battery voltage drops below a first threshold value and a circuit or control program changes the drive frequency of the appliance if the amplitude of the workpiece movement falls below a first threshold value. A circuit/control program terminates the operation of the toothbrush if the voltage drops below a second threshold value or if the amplitude drops below a second threshold value, both of which are less than the respective first thresholds.
