Abstract: A medical system comprises: a medical body area network (MB AN) system (10) comprising a plurality of network nodes (12, 14) intercommunicating via short range wireless communication, the MBAN system (10) including a spectrum control sub-module (52) that selects an operating channel or frequency for the short range wireless communication; and a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag (60) disposed with the MBAN system. The spectrum control sub-module selects an operating channel or frequency from a spectrum comprising a combination of (1) a default spectrum and (2) a restricted spectrum authorized for use by the MBAN system conditional upon the MBAN system being within a medical facility as indicated by readings of the RFID tag. The spectrum control sub-module selects an operating channel or frequency from a spectrum comprising only the default spectrum conditional upon the MBAN system not being within the medical facility as indicated by readings of the RFID tag.
Abstract: The invention relates to 2-(1,2-benzisoxazol-3-yl)benzylamine derivatives having the general Formula (I) wherein R1 represents the group CONR2R3 which is present at one of the positions 5-, 6- or 7- on the 1,2-benzisoxazole ring; R2 and R3 are independently H or (C1-4)alkyl; and R4 is cyclopropyl, 2-pyridyl or phenyl, optionally substituted with one or more halogens; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the same, as well as to the use of these derivatives for the treatment of pain, such as neuropathic pain or inflammatory pain.
Abstract: When cooling a superconducting magnet for use in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device, a two-stage cryocooler (42) employs a first stage cooler (52) to cool a working gas (e.g., Helium, Hydrogen, etc.) to approximately 25 K. The working gas moves through a tubing system by convection until the magnet (20) is at approximately 25K. Once the magnet (20) reaches 25 K, gas flow stops, and a second stage cooler (54) cools the magnet (20) further, to about 4 K.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and a correction system for correcting tracer-uptake measurements for patient specific variations in the tracer-uptake. Input data are received about the patient and subsequently it is determining whether the received input data include tracer-impact data that impact the tracer-uptake measurements for the patient. In case the tracer-impact data are included in the input data a comparing is performed where the tracer-impact data are compared with pre-stored reference data that have associated thereto a correction indicator indicating an amount of deviation of the tracer-uptake measurement due to the tracer-uptake dependent data. The correction indicator of the pre-stored reference data that match with the tracer-impact data is then used to correct the tracer-uptake measurements for the patient.
Abstract: Milk flow detecting method and device monitors a flow of milk in a milk line which is connected to a teat cup and which has an aeration opening, like in a milking device. For this purpose, the milk filling level is monitored in a measuring section of the line. If the variation therein is too little, the absence of a flow, or at least an inadequate flow, is established. If, additionally, a (sufficient) filling level is detected, it can be concluded that there is an obstructed aeration opening.
