Abstract: Methods and systems for depositing a film on a substrate are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method includes converting a non-gaseous precursor into vapor phase. Converting the precursor includes: forming a fluidized bed by flowing gas at a sufficiently high flow rate to suspend and stir a plurality of solid particles, and converting the phase of the non-gaseous precursor into vapor phase in the fluidized bed. The method also includes transferring the precursor in vapor phase through a passage; and performing deposition on one or more substrates with the transferred precursor in vapor phase.
Abstract: A device for separating a flowing medium mixture into at least two different fractions with differing average mass density, comprising an elongate separating space which is circle-symmetrical in axial direction and enclosed by a stationary casing (2), wherein the casing is provided with feeds for a mixture for separating and at least two discharges (9, 10) for discharging at least two fractions with differing mass density, and rotation means located in the separating space for causing the mixture to rotate as a vortex in the separating space. Also disclosed is a method for separating a flowing medium mixture.
Abstract: A driving circuit (10) for driving a plurality of light sources (1) arranged in a series configuration (2) is described. A controllable current source (20) is connected to said series arrangement of light sources. Each light source (1(i)) is bridged by a corresponding controllable switch (25(i)). A controller (30) controls the operation of the current source (20) to set a current level and controls the operative states of the respective switches (25(i)) in order to individually control the light output of the corresponding light sources. The controller (30) is capable of individually setting the switch control signals (SL(O) for the respective switches (25(i)). Especially, the controller (30) is capable of boosting the light output of one selected light source (1(x)) while maintaining the light output of other light sources in the series arrangement (2). To this end, the current level is increased while the other light sources are dimmed.

Abstract: A multi-channel audio encoder (10) for encoding a multi-channel audio signal (101), e.g. a 5.1 channel audio signal, into a spatial down-mix (102), e.g. a stereo signal, and associated parameters (104, 105). The encoder (10) comprises first and second units (110, 120). The first unit (110) encodes the multi-channel audio signal (101) into the spatial down-mix (102) and parameters (104). These parameters (104) enable a multi-channel decoder (20) to reconstruct the multi-channel audio signal (203) from the spatial down-mix (102). The second unit (120) generates, from the spatial down-mix (102), parameters (105) that enable the decoder to reconstruct the spatial down-mix (202) from an alternative down-mix (103), e.g. a so-called artistic down-mix that has been manually mixed in a sound studio. In this way, the decoder (20) can efficiently deal with a situation in which an alternative down-mix (103) is received instead of the regular spatial, down-mix (102).

A socket adjustment assembly is disposed in the housing, The socket adjustment assembly has a lamp socket connected to a socket carriage, and a track having a socket carriage movably positioned on the track. The carriage moves along the track and the lamp socket is movable in a vertical and/or a horizontal direction.
Abstract: The invention relates to the identification of a naturally occurring internal proteolytic cleavage site in the ApoA1 protein, which leads to inactivation of the mature protein. Specific modification of this cleavage site leads to a stabilised ApoA1 protein, which is beneficial for the reverse cholesterol transport. The invention therefore encompasses pharmaceutical compositions comprising a recombinant stabilised variant ApoA1 protein or rHDL particles comprising such a protein, for use in the treatment of patients having reduced HDL or hampered reverse cholesterol transport.

Abstract: In a collection(2) of content items, each content item is represented by at least one signal for rendering in a perceptible form on a rendering system(5,6;25,26,27,28,29), and each content item is linked to data (8,10) specifying at least one geographical location for each content item. A method of providing access to the content items in the collection includes obtaining geographical data defining a route and assembling a signal for use by a 5 rendering system(5,6;25,26,27,28,29), the signal being representative of a succession of signals representing a sequence of content items, so as to progress along the route as the signals representing the sequence of content items are rendered. The content items in the sequence are selected by applying at locations along the route a selection criterion based on the location along the route and the data specifying at least one geographical location for 10 each content item.

Abstract: A radio station (100) receives a data packet (D1, D2) and transmits an acknowledgement (ACK, N). It also transmits an indication of received signal quality (CQI). The time at which the indication of received signal quality (CQI) is transmitted is dependent on the type of acknowledgement transmitted, such as a positive acknowledgement (ACK) or negative acknowledgement (N).

Abstract: A common manner for disclosing information is through a presentation. A presentation is generated automatically to pursue a financial opportunity, such as to disclose to a potential client rationale to purchase a product. In addition, auxiliary tasks that relate to the presentation can be handled automatically, such as sending notices and assigning individuals to disclose the presentation.
Abstract: A medical sensor that allows wrapping about an applied part while maintaining the alignment of the detector and emitter is provided. The medical sensor includes a carrier band that can accommodate variably sized applied parts without misaligning the detector and emitter. The medical sensor can provide space between the skin of the applied part and the emitter and detector. The medical sensor carrier band can be designed with a flexible region and thicker mounting sections that act as spring-loaded mounts when the carrier band is secured in a wrapped position.
Abstract: An image display including a touch-sensitive display, that creates tactile sensation and movement of an object (3-2) along its surface is provided. Actuators including conductive rods (4-111, 4-112) attached together may be used, such that each rod of the actuator (4-11) may increase or decrease in size when current is applied to that rod to cause the actuator to bend toward a specified direction. Also, an image display that includes ball bearings (1-10) whose rotation is controlled by driving magnets (1-21, 1-22) to cause an object to move is provided. Further, air holes (3-11) tilted in various directions to control object movement by air pressure may be provided. Moreover, rods (3-10) may be moved up or down as activated by driving magnets (2-20). The actuators, rods, ball bearing assemblies, or holes may provide touch sensitivity for the image display.

Abstract: When distributing a set 101 of frames 102 each with encoded data 103 from a transmitter 104 to a receiver 105, a dependent frame 108 requires an independent frame 107 for decoding, and the transmitting 111 of the frames 102 from a buffer 110 at the transmitter 104 is reordered such that the dependent frame 108 is sent after the independent frame 107. In particular, a transmission policy wherein buffering 109 a further frame 125 takes into account both: if the further frame 125 requires zero, one or two frames 102 of the set 101 for decoding, and the current frames 102 buffered at the first and the second position 123 of the transmit buffer 110.

Abstract: A system and method of guaranteeing the presence of secure and tamper-proof remote files over a distributed communication medium, such as the Internet, is provided. The system and method automatically detects, and then self-repairs corrupt, modified or non-existent remote files. The method first performs an integrity check on a remote file and then determines whether the integrity check passed. If the integrity check passed, then the user goes through the authentication process as normal. If the integrity check fails, then the present invention redirects to an install module in order to prepare to reinstall the remote file. Via the install module, the present invention then reinstalls the remote file and the user is then taken through the authentication process as normal.
