Abstract: A system for combining exterior light with artificial lighting, comprising a light shielding arrangement (2) for shielding exterior light from a space (5) and at least one light source (6) arranged to emit artificial light that is directed toward the exterior side of the light shielding arrangement (2), which light source (6) is controllable in response to current exterior lighting conditions. The system further comprises a controller (8) connected to said light source (6), which is arranged to control light emission of the light source (6) in response to a current position of the light shielding arrangement, so as to emulate an effect of exterior light escaping through the light shielding arrangement. The artificial light can thus be controlled (manually or automatically) to compensate for lack of sufficient exterior light, and the controller ensures that the artificial light is emitted in such a way as to be perceived as exterior light.

  • Patent number: 8335272
Abstract: A MIMO transmitter has a modulator (40,41,42, 120, 122) a demultiplexer 100 arranged to divide the information into one or more demux streams for transmission over different ones of the channels, and a diversity splitter (110) to derive one or more sub-streams of the same information. A decorrelator (120) such as a scrambler (150, 155) decorrelates the sub-streams before or after the modulation. The arrangement is configurable to vary in use a ratio of demultiplexing and of diversity splitting. This balances between the gains from diversity and spatial multiplexing, without needing major changes to the transmit and receive processing.

  • Patent number: 8333707
Abstract: A patient monitoring instrument protects the ports of a patient gas analyzer when not in use. A spring-loaded door covers the inlet and outlet ports of the gas analyzer when not connected to a gas collection tube. The door can be opened against the force of its spring with a gas tube connector, which is guided into its fitting by the contour of the door. When the connector is locked in place the connector holds the door open, exposing the outlet port of the analyzer.

  • Patent number: 8334757
Abstract: A method for controlling data access to and from an RFID device wherein the RFID reading device authenticates himself to the RFID device before the RFID device communicates with the RFID reading device. The RFID device is equipped with a physically uncloneable function, which is adapted to produce a unique but unpredictable response signal upon receiving a predefined challenging signal. During an enrolement of the RFID device, a first response signal is uniquely associated with a first challenging signal and is stored in a memory of the RFID device. The first challenging signal represents a password for opening further data communication with the RFID device. When a RFID reading device queries the RFID device with a second challenging signal, the RFID device compares a corresponding second response signal with the first response signal stored during enrollment and only if there is a match, responds with its identifier.
