Patent number: 8325879Abstract: The invention relates to x-ray filters in a collimator for controlling the energy of an x-ray beam along a projection axis in computed tomography systems. According to the invention, the filter assembly comprises a filter element for attenuating the x-ray beam, and at least a support plate which fixes the filter element. The filter element and the support plate are notch-shaped in the center part of the filter assembly along a direction perpendicular to the projection axis. The design may free space to be used by other collimator parts and further allows use of more than one filter element in a filter assembly for backup purposes. This simplifies replacement of a defective x-ray filter in the field.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2008Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Marinus Antonius Dimphna Maria Loos, Felix Godfried Peter Peeters

Patent number: 8325620Abstract: A wireless device (200, 310-1) executes a method (400) of reserving a time slot for communication with a second wireless device (200, 310-4) in a communication network 5 (300). The wireless device (200, 310-1) determines whether any antenna beam to be used in a proposed communication with the second wireless device (200, 310-4) communication within the time slot would interfere with any antenna beam used by any first wireless device (200, 310-i) in any existing reservations for the time slot. When any antenna beam to be used in the proposed communication would not interfere with any antenna beam used 10 by any first wireless device (200, 310-i) in any existing reservations for the time slot, the wireless device (200, 310-1) transmits an information element (500) or reserving the time slot for communication with the second wireless device (200, 310-4).Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2008Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Chun-Ting Chou

Publication number: 20120300901Abstract: A distributed X-ray source (3) and an imaging system (1) comprising such an X-ray source (3) are proposed. The X-ray source (3) comprises an electron beam source arrangement (19) and an anode arrangement (17). The electron beam source arrangement (19) is adapted to emit electron beams (24) towards at least two locally distinct focal spots (27) on the anode arrangement (17). Therein, the X-ray source is adapted for displacing the anode arrangement (17) with respect to the electron beam source arrangement (19). While the provision of a plurality of focal spots allows acquisition of projection images under different projection angles thereby allowing reconstruction of three-dimensional X-ray images e.g. in tomosynthesis application, a displacement motion of the anode arrangement (17) with respect to the electron beam source arrangement (19) may allow for distributed heat flux to the anode arrangement thereby possibly reducing cooling requirements.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2010Publication date: November 29, 2012Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V.Inventors: Astrid Lewalter, Rainer Pietig, Wolfgang Chrost
