  • Patent number: 6928263
Abstract: A communications system includes first and second beacon devices capable of wireless message transmission and at least one portable device capable of receiving such message transmissions. The first beacon is arrange to broadcast a series of inquiry messages according to a first communications protocol, such as Bluetooth. The portable device detects such inquiry messages and replies with an identifier for the portable device. The first beacon then transmits the received identifier to the second beacon, with the second beacon and portable device configured to perform a service interaction when triggered by the second beacon receiving the portable device identifier.

  • Patent number: 6927592
Abstract: The present invention is related to a device (1) for measuring the quiescent current IDDQ drawn by an electronic device such as a CMOS device or an IC, from a supply voltage. The quiescent current is drawn in between switching peaks, and is a measure for the quality of a device under test. The measurement device of the invention comprises a current measuring unit (6), and parallel to this CMU (6), a current bypass unit CBU (20), comprising a power MOSFET. In the CBU of the invention, a connection (51) is present between a terminal other than the gate or base of one driver transistor and the source of the MOSFET, thereby minimising the charge transfer effects which are likely to occur during switching of the MOSFET. The invention is further related to a measurement device for IDDQ measurement comprising a current offset unit (21), which is aimed at improving the measurement range, without losing measurement resolution.

  • Publication number: 20050168718
Abstract: An improved reticle frame structure surrounds the perimeter of a reticle substrate and contacts it at the edge with precision guidance surfaces as the reticle is lowered onto the device. In an embodiment, the reticle contacts conical sections that correct its position and orientation along the plane of its mask surface, and spherical surfaces to position the reticle at its standardized datum reference areas. Near the intersection of the X and Y reference planes, a minimal area of the reticle face comes to rest on a spherical mounting surface as far away from the reticle mask as possible. This surface completes a tripod of vertical support in conjunction with the cones, which maintain contact with the reticle edges only. Secondary and tertiary spherical support surfaces can be provided for vertical support of the other two lateral corners of the reticle face to mitigate reticle tilt while it is being lowered onto the tripod contact points.

  • Publication number: 20050169486
Abstract: A multi-channel audio conversion system is described, comprising audio mode converting means having a signal input and a signal output for converting audio input signals to audio output signals representing audio in an audio output mode. The audio mode converting means are arranged for user controlled conversion from the audio input signals to the audio output signals. Advantageously the influencing of the conversion from audio input signals to audio output signals may take place by the listener. This results in a smooth and personalized freedom of choice regarding the amount of multi-channel stereo and/or surround effects in the audio output signals of the system.

  • Publication number: 20050169201
Abstract: A Bluetooth master radio frequency unit addresses a slave radio frequency unit, to enable the slave to synchronize to the master, by sending poll packets and optionally null packets over an active link, the master being arranged so that receipt of a response from the slave unit to a poll packet is sufficient to maintain the active link. The slave unit does not have to respond to all of the poll packets. This approach can allow the slave to preserve more (transmit) power by going into a deep sleep mode in which a low power oscillator may be used while still allowing the master unit to detect whether the slave has resynchronized or not (and thus to update a Link Supervision Timer, for example).

  • Publication number: 20050169416
Abstract: Transceivers for use in time division telecommunication units like mobile phones and base stations can be produced at lower costs by, in a transmitting mode, switching the direct digital synthesizer (DDS 24) driven phase locked loop (PLL 10-15) into a modulating state and supplying a modulation signal to the DDS and switching in the PLL a first filter (12) allowing the generation of an improved modulated signal, and by, in a receiving mode, switching the DDS driven PLL into an oscillating state and supplying a non-modulation signal to the DDS and switching in the PLL a second filter (13) allowing demodulation with reduced phase noise. A transmitter part (2) and a non-transmitter part (4,6) share a single DDS driven PLL, based upon the basic idea of using important parts in low cost transceivers for both modes, instead of using different parts for different modes, and achieve a good performance.

  • Publication number: 20050168492
Abstract: Method display device and computer program product that reduces motion blur, flicker and loss of brightness of images shown in non-stoboscopic display devices, such as Liquid Crystal or Light Emitting Diodes displays, in which each image of input video signal is displayed during a display time ti, which is less than or equal to a picture period T. The motion and the characteristics of motion are measured and the display time ti is continuously adjusted between O and T depending on this measured motion and the caracteristics of motion. To further reduce flicker and loss of brightness encountered when reducing the display time, anti-mot on blur filtering of the input video signal is performed, where the display time and the amount and sort of filtering is jointly controlled based on the measured motion and characteristics of motion.

  • Publication number: 20050168791
Abstract: A system for calibrating a spatial light modulator array includes an illumination system and a spatial light modulator array that reflects or transmits light from the illumination system. A projection optical system images the spatial light modulator array onto an image plane. A shearing interferometer creates an interference pattern in the image plane. A controller controls modulation of elements of the spatial light modulator array. The shearing interferometer includes a diffraction grating, a prism, a folding mirror or any other arrangement for generating shear. The shearing interferometer can be a stretching shearing interferometer, a lateral shearing interferometer, or a rotational shearing interferometer. The shearing interferometer may include a diffraction grating with a pitch corresponding to a shear of the light by an integer number of elements. The projection optics resolves each element of the spatial light modulator array in the image plane.

  • Publication number: 20050172096
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, the use of such a method and an integrated circuit for altering memory configurations in a physical memory. A memory configuration comprising memory pools of memory packets can be changed into a new memory configuration by detecting a released memory packet within a memory pool of said first memory configuration, assigning memory from said released memory packet to said second memory configuration, determining the size of said assigned free memory of said second memory configuration and allocating within said assigned free memory a required amount of memory for a memory packet of a pool of said second memory configuration in case that assigned free memory size satisfies that allocation request. By said transition a seamless mode change may be applied and memory packets released within a first mode may already be used by said second mode. Fragmentation may be avoided.
