Patent number: 6598793Abstract: A method for checking the authenticity of a security article of the type containing magnetic particles having a magnetic saturation field Hs being greater than 100 A/m. The method includes the following steps: (a) generating an alternating field of one or more fundamental frequencies; (b) subjecting an article to be detected to the field; (c) detecting a detection signal emanating from the article to be detected; and (d) examining the detection signal for the presence of any particular higher harmonics of the fundamental frequencies or of any linear combination of the fundamental frequencies and of the harmonics, the particular harmonics or the linear combination being indicative of the presence of the magnetic particles. The method is applied at point of transaction locations, where the article to be detected is brought into close proximity with a sensor.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: N.V. Publication number: 20030115689Abstract: A process for the continuous dyeing of plastic films, such as polyethylene terephthalate, is characterized by passing the film through a dye bath comprised of dye stuffs dissolved, suspended or dispersed in a liquid carrier comprised at least in part of a polymer, preferably a polyol, having at least one free hydroxyl group and a molecular weight within the range of from about 200 to about 600. The hydrogen bonding provided by the hydroxyl group, together with the high molecular weight and high boiling point of the polyol, mitigate against migration of the dye stuff out of the film, i.e., fading of the film, and impart long lasting color fastness to the film. Rapid diffusion of the dye bath into the film is enhanced by thermal and ultrasonic energization of the bath.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2001Publication date: June 26, 2003Applicant: N.V. Patent number: 6421977Abstract: Reinforcement stirrup for use in masonry includes a support section and a flat stirrup leg extending vertically relative to it. The stirrup leg is inserted in a joint between constructional elements. A positioner positions an essentially horizontally extending main reinforcement. The stirrup leg is positioned in relative to the support section so that the support section of the stirrup leg inserted into a joint between two constructional elements contacts them. The positioner for a main reinforcement may be a hook. A further positioner positions of the reinforcement stirrup relative to a constructional element with which it cooperates, so that an in line positioning of the reinforcement stirrups in relation to one another can easily be achieved. Masonry construction may be provided with a main reinforcement running essentially horizontally and that is positioned with the aid of the reinforcement stirrups.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2001Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignee: N.V.
