Abstract: A door frame is fabricated of rolled sheet metal vertical frame pieces each including a first channel for receiving the end portions of wood or metal horizontal crosspieces and a second channel for receiving the end portions of corrugated or other panel members, the latter channel being formed by rolling a portion of the sheet metal back on itself to provide a double walled strength portion.
Abstract: A door closer includes a spring-loaded piston forming part of a conventional pneumatic dashpot, which retards the speed of a door during closing, and an elastomeric sleeve which is longitudinally compressed during opening of the door to retard the speed of the door during opening and to apply substantial resistance to further opening movement as the door approaches its fully open position. Closing speed of the door is also initially retarded by the compressed sleeve.
Abstract: Door speed is controlled by a pneumatic dashpot including a spring-loaded piston having a piston rod which extends through an elastomeric silicone rubber braking sleeve which is longitudinally compressed as the door opens to increase the friction between the piston rod and the sleeve. One or more enlargements on the piston rod provide increased friction as the rod moves through the braking sleeve to control closing speed and to provide greater wind resistance.
Abstract: A machine for trimming the edges of metal containers in which a plurality of upstanding, vertically disposed cams are positioned upon a table. A plurality of sliding cutters are provided equal in number to the cams. The cams are driven up and down by a vertically reciprocating platen below the table by means of a power source, a crank shaft and an arm coupling the crank shaft and platen. Various cam face shapes and cam followers are disclosed to provide the cutting sequence of the cutters.
Abstract: A jamb latch for a sliding door utilizes a pivotally mounted operating arm which in one position is used to pull the door in tightly against the jamb and to latch the door in place and which in a second position extends across the edge of the door to hold it in an open position.
Abstract: A sliding door is suspended from a top rail for movement across a doorway and is guided at the bottom by a J-shaped rail mounted to the side of the building adjacent the doorway and extending upwardly into a downwardly opening channel provided along the bottom of the door.
Abstract: A fixed fishing rod receiving member is provided with an opposed latch member swingably secured thereto. Spaced hookshaped extensions on the rod receiving member underlie the rods and spaced pins extending toward the rod receiving member and carried by the latch member overlie the rods. A block of resilient material is carried between the hooks and the pins to grasp and cushion the rods within the rack when closed. Lock means are provided to secure the rods in place within the device.
Abstract: A metal door frame is fabricated in the field by interfitting channel cross pieces in channel uprights and curling prepunched tongues in the uprights through openings in the cross pieces to square-up and to secure the cross pieces to the uprights.
