  • Patent number: 4005501
Abstract: A mounting means for supporting and positioning the elongated brush roll of a suction cleaner in the suction chamber or nozzle of the cleaner so that the brush roll may be rapidly and easily mounted in or removed from the suction chamber. Guide and bearing surfaces are defined on a plurality of bosses on the portion of each side wall of the cleaner base which defines the suction chamber, and the external surfaces on a hexagonal boss at each end of the brush roll coact with the guide surfaces on the bosses to guide the direction of movement of the brush roll during installation and removal thereof from the suction chamber and with the bearing surfaces on the bosses to locate the brush roll in its operating position in the suction chamber. The guide surfaces are inclined toward the rear of the cleaner base so that the brush roll is held in its operating position in the suction chamber solely by the tension of the brush roll drive belt.

  • Patent number: 3975209
Abstract: 1. In a pellet type thermal cell including a mass of electrolyte, a deploarizing agent, a cathode, and an anode; the improvement wherein said anode comprises a pelletized mixture of a refractory oxide selected from the group consisting of zirconium oxide and alumina and an alloy containing from about 10 wt. % to about 20 wt. % lithium, from about 1 wt. % to about 6 wt. % aluminum, and the balance essentially magnesium, said refractory oxide being present in said anode in a minor amount sufficient to retard side reactions and general deterioration of the cell.

  • Patent number: 3954503
Abstract: 1. A fusible salt electrolyte cell system including a compressed mass of non-fused electrolyte admixed with an adsorbent binder and in intimate contact with an anode, said adsorbent binder being present throughout the mass in an amount sufficient to impart non-flow characteristics to the fused electrolyte so as to maintain the electrolyte against substantial displacement under pressure when the electrolyte is fused thereby to retain the fused electrolyte in intimate contact with said anode, said binder essentially comprising dehydrated kaolinite in a sheet layer crystalline structure form.

  • Patent number: 3954504
Abstract: 1. A fusible salt electrolyte cell system including a cathode, an anode, and a mass of non-fused electrolyte in contact therewith and wherein said cathode and electrolyte components essentially consist of a series of layers of powders compressed under a pressure of the order of 50,000 to 60,000 p.s.i. into a single pellet with adjacent layers intimately united, said electrolyte being admixed with dehydrated kaolinite in a sheet layer crystalline structure form, which is present throughout the mass of electrolyte in an amount sufficient to impart nonflow characteristics to the fused electrolyte so as to maintain the electrolyte against substantial displacement under pressure when the electrolyte is fused thereby to retain the fused electrolyte in intimate contact with said anode, and heat source material adjacent said electrolyte and adapted to release heat in an amount adequate to fuse said electrolyte so as to activate the cell.
