Abstract: Images of an unknown item picked from a store are processed to produce a cropped image. The cropped image is processed to produce a brightness/perspective corrected image, and the brightness/perspective corrected image is processed to produce a low-resolution final image. Image features of the low-resolution final image are extracted and compared against known item features for known items to identify an item code for a known item.

Abstract: A vison-based self-checkout terminal is provided. Purchased items are placed on a base and multiple cameras take multiple images of each item placed on the base. A location for each item placed on the base is determined along with a depth and the dimensions of each item at its given location on the base. Each item's images are then cropped, and item recognition is performed for each item on that item's cropped images with that item's corresponding depth and dimension attributes. An item identifier for each item is obtained along with a corresponding price and a transaction associated with items are completed.

Abstract: Various embodiments herein each include at least one of systems, methods, software, and devices for edge system health monitoring and auditing. One embodiment, in the form of a method includes performing a system audit over a first network of devices deployed within the facility to determine a status of each respective device. This embodiment further includes determining an overall system status for the facility based on results of the system audit including consideration of a status of each of the devices deployed within the facility and storing data representative of the overall system status of the facility. This embodiment also transmits at least a portion of the data representative of the overall system status of the facility over a second network to a facility system status monitoring application which may then present a single indicator of the overall system status or health.

Abstract: A vehicle is detected at a drive thru terminal and an automated voice-based dialogue is established with a user in the vehicle and the terminal. An order is placed for a transaction using natural-language speech. The automated voice-based dialogue identifies commands, nouns associated with menu items, adjectives associated with modifying the menu items, prepositions associated with modifying the menu items, and exclamations associated with confirming the order and associated menu items. The automated speech is identified and processed based on a specific lexicon associated with a specific type of restaurant. The speech is translated into actions processed through an ordering system/interface as text-based instructions. Feedback for the order and guidance during the order are provided to the user through: speech played over a speaker associated with the terminal, text displayed on a display, and/or images associated with the ordered items.

Abstract: A method of encoding a transaction flow is described. The method comprises: receiving information from a user about a transaction type to be executed; creating a transaction flow comprising a sequence of states, where at least some states include text to be displayed and inputs to be enabled for that state; and encoding the transaction flow into a machine-readable code.

Abstract: A kiosk provides a consumer-facing interface for interacting with a consumer to take an order at an enterprise location. A device identifier for a consumer-operated device and order details for the order are received through the consumer-facing interface and communicated to a remote order integration manager executing on a server external from the kiosk. The order integration manager interacts with an enterprise service system and provides updates on the order in real time to the consumer through the consumer-operated device using the device identifier.

Conditions of interest may include media misalignment within media cassettes, such as currency, and items within an SST reject bin that have not been removed when the SST is being serviced. One method embodiment includes receiving an image from an imaging device located within an SST, the image including a view of at least one area of interest within the SST. This method further includes processing the image to detect presence of a condition of interest within at least one of the at least one areas of interest and generating and providing an alert of a detected presence of the condition of interest with regard to at least one of the areas of interest.

The second user redeems the secure token for access to the first user's resource. The access during redemption is constrained by the use-based access restrictions defined by the first user.

When the parameters are achievable for an enterprise and when the consumer is in a configured proximity to the desired good or service, the mobile device of the consumer is notified of the offer.

Abstract: A scanner is integrated as a peripheral device into a POS terminal. Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are selectively activated and deactivated during item scanning for items being processed during a transaction at the POS terminal. The activation and deactivation of the LEDs are visible to an overhead security camera during the transaction. The selective activation and deactivation providing indications during the transaction as to whether the items are successfully scanned or unsuccessfully scanned during the transaction as the items are passed in front of at least one scan window of the scanner.

Abstract: A monitoring project is defined interactively through an interface. Resources needed for the project are obtained, configured, arranged, and verified within a target area. Video and audio feeds are captured and analyzed during a project period within the target area and customer interactions and intentions are derived from detected customer behaviors within the feeds. The intentions and behaviors are indexed with aggregated metrics within a data store. The interface provides custom queries, reports, interactive graphics, and real-time notifications from the data store that depict the custom aggregated metrics for the intentions and behaviors of the monitoring project.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cash drawer detection and control are disclosed herein. The systems and methods may include use of an adaptor. The adaptor may connect a cash drawer to a point of sale (POS) terminal. The adaptor may include allow for an input signal to be received from the cash drawer. The type of cash drawer can be identified based on the input signal. An output signal operative to open the cash drawer can be generated and transmitted to the cash drawer to open the cash drawer.

Abstract: A system detects a transaction outcome by obtaining video data associated with a transaction area and analyzing the video data to obtain at least one video transaction parameter concerning transactions associated with the transaction area. The transaction area can be a video count of items indicated in the video data as detected by an automated item detection algorithm applied to the video data. The system obtains at least one expected transaction parameter concerning an expected transaction that occurs in the transaction area, such as a scan count of items scanned at a point of sale terminal. The system automatically compares the video transaction parameter(s) to the expected transaction parameter(s) to identify a transaction outcome that may indicate fraudulent activity such as sweethearting in a retail environment.

One embodiment, in the form of a method that may be performed, for example, on a server or a participant computing device. This method includes receiving a voice signal via a network and modifying an audible characteristic of the voice signal that is perceptible when the voice signal is audibly output. The method further includes outputting the voice signal including the modified audible characteristic.

Abstract: User data is aggregated across a plurality of electronic communication channels and domains. An online system initially authenticates a user for access to the online system over a network. The online system provides a user identifier for the user to an authentication service. The authentication service generates a non-repeatable challenge from the aggregated user data for the user identifier and provides the non-repeatable challenge to the online system. The online system provides the challenge to the user and receives a response from the user. The online system provides the response to the authentication service and the authentication sends a success or failure back to the online system based on the response to the challenge, and based on the success or failure the online system makes a final determination for authenticating the user for accessing to the online system.

Abstract: A terminal includes an item scanner. The item scanner determines whether an item that passes within a field of view of the scanner during a transaction has a properly noted barcode recorded for the transaction. When the item fails to have a properly noted barcode an alert is raised in real time for assistance and/or investigation of the transaction.
