Abstract: A beam is reflected and/or transmitted by a sample with a coating. The path of the beam has a unitary path part where the beam is affected by the coating but is split into parallel sub-paths in a fixed (sample independent) part of the apparatus, components of the beam with different directions of polarization being passed through the sub-paths. A spectrum is determined of ratio's between intensities of the components after they have been affected by the sample, and from the spectrum of the ratio's coating properties are determined. Typically a polarizing splitter is used to split the beam after it has been affected by the sample and the beam is chopped in the sub-paths. After chopping the beam may be recombined before being passed to a detector. The detector may be shared between different arrangements of splitters-choppers-combiners. The beam may be passed to and from the sample through the same splitter.

  • Publication number: 20080160194
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for printing a fluid material using a continuous jet printing technique, wherein the material is passed under pressure from a reservoir through a channel to at least one outflow opening of the channel, after which the material is passed through the outflow opening, whereby the pressure in at least a part of the channel upstream of the outflow opening is in the interval of 15-600 bars [?15·105 to 600·105 Pa], and whereby the fluid material comprises a curable composition which comprises: a) a component A in an amount in the range of from 1-15 wt % which component A has a dielectric constant larger than 15 (at 0° C.); b) an ionically dissolved lipophilic salt in an amount in the range of from 1-15 wt %, c) optionally (a) coating additive(s) in an amount of at most 10 wt %, and d) for the remaining part a liquid component B which comprises a curable monomer and/or a curable oligomer, which liquid component B has a low shear viscosity (at 22° C.

  • Publication number: 20080040102
Abstract: The invention provides a softscaled frequency compensation function that allows the evaluation of a first quality measure indicating a global impact of all distortions in an audio transmission system, including linear frequency response distortions and second quality measure that only lakes into account the impact of linear frequency response distortions. The softscaled frequency compensation function is derived from a softscaled ratio between a time integrated output and a time integrated input power density functions. The first quality measure is derived from the difference loudness density function as function of time and frequency, using the frequency compensated input loudness density function and the gain compensated output loudness density function both as a function of time and frequency, in the same manner as carried out in ITU standard P.862.

  • Publication number: 20080018440
Abstract: The invention relates to a bicycle lock (1), comprising locking means (5,8) for locking a bicycle (10), and releasing means (6) for removing the locking. The releasing means (6) can be operated with a pass (2), which is provided with a valid operating code (3). For this purpose, the lock comprises reading means (15), preferably non-contact, by means of which the operating code (3) can be read out and compared with a code preprogrammed in the lock. In order to save energy consumption, the reading means are preferably provided with switching means, which are preferably automatically switched on when the pass is brought into a reading position. The invention further relates to a system for giving bicycles on loan, wherein each bicycle is provided with a lock according to the invention, and wherein issue and collection of the bicycles is managed with the aid of the issue and collection of passes (2).
