Abstract: A multiple-look support strap is adapted for hanging one end of a hammock from a fixed structure. The support strap cooperates with a like strap to hang an opposite end of the hammock from a second fixed structure spaced apart from the first. The support strap comprises an elongated length of flexible strap folded upon itself to form first and second overlying strap sections. The strap sections are integrally joined together at a first end of the support strap, and a least one of the first and second strap sections terminates at an opposite second end of the support strap. A plurality of strap loops are formed with the first and second strap sections between opposite ends of the support strap.

Abstract: A thermostat may include a housing, a user interface, temperature sensors providing temperature sensor measurements, and a processing system configured to control an HVAC system based on a comparison of a determined ambient temperature and a setpoint temperature. The thermostat may (i) determine time intervals in which direct sunlight is incident on the thermostat; (ii) during time intervals in which direct sunlight is not incident on the thermostat, process the temperature sensor measurements according to a first ambient temperature determination algorithm to compute the determined ambient temperature; and (iii) during time intervals in which it is determined that direct sunlight is incident on the thermostat, process the temperature sensor measurements according to a second ambient temperature determination algorithm to compute the determined ambient temperature that compensates for a heating of the thermostat caused by the direct sunlight.

Abstract: The invention provides a plant for production of energy, comprising any type of heat or energy source including but not limited to solar power sources, nuclear reactors, fossil fuel plants, wind power plants, tidal power plants, waste heat power plants and geothermal sources, operatively arranged at an input side of the plant, and heat delivery or energy production means such as turbine-electric generator sets, operatively arranged at a delivery side of the plant.
Abstract: A device for determining a density of a fluid including a mechanical resonator, a driver/receiver unit arranged to provide an actuation to the mechanical resonator, sense a response of the mechanical resonator to the actuation, and provide an output signal representing the response; and an evaluation unit. The evaluation unit of the device is arranged to determine an oscillation distribution from the output signal, determine a resonance frequency estimate from the oscillation distribution, and determine the density of the fluid based upon the resonance frequency estimate. The device enables a more accurate determination of the fluid density for fluids including immiscible components (thus forming a heterogeneous mixture), like a water-oil emulsion, or a fluid with occluded gas.

Abstract: Techniques for determining and using a thermodynamic model that characterizes a thermodynamic response of an enclosure conditioned by an HVAC system are disclosed. To determine a thermodynamic model, temperature information when the HVAC system operates in a first state may first be received. A response interval may then be determined where the response interval indicates an estimated time between when the HVAC system begins operating in the first state and when the temperature within the enclosure begins to change in a direction associated with the first state. Weighting factors corresponding to basis functions may then be determined, where the weighted basis functions characterize the temperature trajectory of the enclosure in response to the HVAC system operating in the first state.

Abstract: A data processing method, program, and apparatus for identifying a document within a block of text. A block of text is tokenized into a plurality of text tokens according to at least one rule parser. Each of the plurality of text tokens is sequentially compared to a plurality of document tokens to determine if the text token matches one of the plurality of document tokens. The plurality of document tokens correspond to a plurality of documents which have been tokenized according to the one or more rule parsers. Each matched text token is filtered according to predetermined filtering criteria to generate one or more candidate text tokens. It is then determined whether sequence of candidate text tokens that occur in sequential order within the block of text match sequence of document tokens. If so, then it is determined that the document has been identified within the block of text. The document can correspond to an artist, a song names, and misspellings and aliases thereof.
Abstract: A control system may include a thermostat device and boiler control device. The thermostat device may be configured to receive electrical power from second wiring terminals and provide control signals to boiler control device using a second radio when wires are not present in first wiring terminals. The thermostat device may also be configured to receive electrical power from the first wiring terminals and provide the coded control signals to the boiler control device through the first wiring terminals when wires are present in the first wiring terminals. The boiler control device may be configured to receive the control signals from the thermostat device using a third radio and selectively couple the third wiring terminals to fifth wiring terminals to selectively control activation of the boiler-based heating system when wires are not present in fourth wiring terminals.

Abstract: A device and a method for determining a flow velocity of a fluid or a fluid component in a pipeline is described. The device comprises a transmitter adapted to be placed inside the pipeline and arranged to transmit an ultrasound signal into the fluid or fluid component in a first direction; a receiver adapted to be placed inside the pipeline and arranged to receive a dispersed ultrasound signal, generated by dispersion of the ultrasound signal by the fluid or the fluid component in a second direction, the second direction being different from the first direction, and to provide a receiver signal representing the dispersed ultrasound signal; and, a processing unit arranged to receive said receiver signal and to determine a frequency difference between the transmitted ultrasound signal and the dispersed ultrasound signal and determining the flow velocity of the fluid or the fluid component based on said difference.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing registration at a remote site that may include, for example, a monitoring module that may communicate with a remote site. A registration protocol may be used by the monitoring module and the remote site in generating the messages communicated during the registration process. The monitoring module may gather and generate various identification information to be included in the registration protocol messages. The registration information provided by the monitoring module maybe stored at the remote site in a database server having a database. A confirmation message may be communicated from the remote site to the monitoring module that may either acknowledge successful registration or report that an error occurred during the registration process.
