  • Publication number: 20090261055
Abstract: The plastic closure consists of a rotating cap (1) with a sectoral pouring hole and with a slide (2) guided on its under side in such a way as to be capable of being displaced in a translational manner in relation to the pouring hole. The slide exhibits a downward-projecting cam on its under side. Lying beneath the slide (2) is a gate cap (3). Also present in its cover (6) is a sectoral pouring hole and behind it additionally a groove as a gate guide for the cam on the slide (2). The gate cap (3) is installed in a stationary manner on a bottle neck or a container spout. If the rotating cap (1) is caused to rotate relative to the gate cap (3), the cam of the slide will be guided along the gate guide and will pull the slide (2) into the open position, whereas rotation in the opposite direction will cause the slide (2) to be displaced back into the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20090263544
Abstract: Hard candy which includes at least one acidic component and which shows improved transparency is made by forming a liquid starting material comprising at least one sugar alcohol which is not a monosaccharide sugar alcohol, water, and the acidic component; heating under conditions at which the acidic component does not cause significant hydrolysis of the sugar alcohol to dissolve the acidic component in the liquid and remove at least part of the water; and cooling to form the hard candy. The product has a transmission of: at least 47.8% at 450 mnm; and/or at least 50.9% at 550 nm; and/or at least 52.3% at 650 nm.

  • Patent number: 7604829
Abstract: A pet food product is produced having a colored exterior that simulates the appearance of real meat that has been imparted a marinated or grilled appearance. The product may be manufactured using a vegetarian (meat free) formulation or a formulation combining meat with dry proteinaceous materials. The ingredients are processed to form an emulsion-like mixture, which is rapidly heated in a confined zone to allow the protein to coagulate. An injector/shredder assembly is positioned in the zone to disrupt and shred the coagulated product mass and inject a colorant. The colorant adheres to some of the exterior surfaces of the final product to create a simulated grilled or roasted appearance.

  • Patent number: 7604826
Abstract: The present invention relates to a capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a beverage that is designed to be extracted by injection of a fluid under pressure. The capsule comprises a closed chamber containing the substance with at least part of the closed chamber including a retaining part made of a flexible membrane. One or more raised elements that face the membrane are associated with and forming part of the capsule. These element(s) are used to open the capsule due to a buildup of pressure therein. This rise in pressure causes relative engagement of the raised element(s) with the membrane until the membrane ruptures or is torn to release the formed beverage from the chamber. As the liquid of the beverage does not come into contact with the machine, hygiene is improved and cross-contamination is reduced when preparing a beverage from the capsule.

  • Publication number: 20090255410
Abstract: The invention relates to an extraction module with linear closure for the pressurized preparation of a drink from a capsule, containing a substance for extraction, comprising means for extraction with a first extraction sub-assembly and a second mobile extraction sub-assembly closing against the first sub-assembly such as to form an extraction chamber in the closed position and to provide sufficient space between the two sub-assemblies for introduction of a capsule between the sub-assemblies in the open position and comprising a means for fixing and positioning the capsule between the two sub-assemblies. Said means for fixing and positioning may be displaced in a coaxial manner with relation to the linear displacement of the mobile extraction sub-assembly and is capable of being displaced linearly by the second mobile sub-assembly in to a displaced position such as to permit a closing of the two sub-assemblies around the capsule.
