Abstract: An insert part (1) for insertion in an opening in a wall has a neck (7) to pass through the opening and a flange (4) arranged on the neck (7) and comprising a depression (5) on the under side facing the neck (7). The depression (5) is bounded on the outside by an elevated circumferential edge and contains a body (17) of adhesive capable of being brought into a flowable state by heating. To secure the insert part in the opening of the wall, catches (8) are attached to the neck (7). The body (17) is of such size that it is completely accommodated by the depression (5), and the insert part (1) is of such conformation that, in the installation position in which it is secured by the catches (8) in the opening of the wall, the circumferential edge (6) of the flange (4) is firmly pressed into contact with the wall.

Abstract: A rivet setting tool is provided with a mandrel collection system. The mandrel collection system uses a valve system to provide high and low vacuum states to draw rivet mandrels into a collection bottle. The low vacuum state provides an energy savings and reduced noise levels.

Abstract: A process and a system are proposed for short-time arc welding elements, such as for example metal studs, on to components, such as for example metal sheets, wherein an element in the context of a welding operation is initially raised in relation to the component, a welding arc is formed between the element and the component, and the element is lowered again, the lifting height of the element in relation to the component being detected at least within a time segment between raising and lowering of the element. The initiation of the lowering operation and/or the lowering operation itself is controlled as a factor of the detected lifting height such that a previously specified total welding time is achieved.

Abstract: A hand-held power performs three operations, selectively. A first operation corrects the setting of an improperly set self-piercing rivet. A second operation removes a self-piercing rivet from workpieces. A third operation sets a solid rivet, which may replace a removed self-piercing rivet. Abstract: A single control roman tub faucet (8) includes a lower anchor (10) that is attached to the roughed-in tub surround (51) and an upper anchor (18) that is installed on the final decorative surface of the tub surround. The upper anchor is attached to the lower anchor by a fastener (40) that extends therebetween. Outlet pipes (16) extend through the lower and upper anchors and connect water supply lines to the faucet.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for attaching an undercover to the underside of a car body floor panel having a plurality of studs, comprises tubular fasteners that are inserted into respective mounting holes of the undercover with diametral clearance and that are engaged with the studs. Each fastener comprises clips coupled to one another and having flanges that exert a predetermined clamping force on the undercover while permitting displacement of the undercover along the floor panel due to thermal deformation.
Abstract: A fastener (21) for a pipe or the like, comprising a base (22) and a pipe holder portion (23–26) supported by the base. The pipe holder portion includes a wall (30, 31) defining a recess for receiving a pipe or the like therein, and a resilient holding finger (34) extending obliquely from the vicinity of the end of the wall into the recess. The pipe holder portion is supportedly connected to the base (22) through a hollow tubular cushion portion (41). The end of the wall of the pipe holder portion is connected, through a short sheet-like thin connecting piece (43), to either an adjacent wall of another pipe holder portion or an adjacent wall integrated with the base. The thin connecting piece (43) is formed in a thin plate having the same length as that of the pipe holder portion in the longitudinal direction of the pipe. Abstract: The preferred embodiment of a fastening system includes a self-piercing fastener having a thread-like pattern. In another aspect of the present invention, a fastener insertion machine employs an electromagnetic actuator without fluid actuation. A further aspect of the present invention uses a rotary-to-linear transmission within the machine to advance the fastener. In still another aspect of the present invention a self-piercing fastener is a clinch nut or a clinch stud.
Abstract: A device for holding a piece in a bore comprises a cylindrical sleeve constructed to be inserted into the bore and held therein by engagement of its outer surface with an inner surface of the bore, and an annular bead extending circumferentially and inwardly from the inner surface of the sleeve, the bead being disposed to engage an outer surface of a piece inserted into the sleeve. The sleeve and the bead are integrally formed of resilient flexible plastic.

The sleeve and the fins are integrally formed of resilient flexible plastic, and the fins are skewed in a same circumferential direction relative to radial planes of the sleeve. The flexibility of the fins is such that the fins can be readily deflected when engaged by an inserted piece.
Abstract: A rivet setting tool having a remote intensifier and autofill/recharge system is provided. The rivet setting tool has a hydraulic pulling head which is coupled to an intensifier. The intensifier has a mechanism for providing hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic rivet head to set a rivet tool. The intensifier further has a mechanism for refilling/recharging the hydraulic system of the rivet setting head.
