Patent number: 8684428Abstract: When a retainer unit is fastened to a body, the rotation of a pin member around its longitudinal axis pushes out and widens the body mounting leg portion of the retainer unit, and the retainer unit is drawn into the body. As a result, the elastic flange of the leg is bent, the insertion hole in the body is sealed by the elastic flange of the leg, and infiltration of water from the outside is prevented. By drawing the retainer unit into the body, the pin member is also drawn into the body a slight distance (dimension ?). As a result, the elastic flange of the pin member is bent, the pin insertion hole is sealed by the elastic flange of the pin member, and infiltration of water from the outside is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 2012Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventor: Takahiro Sano

Patent number: 8677563Abstract: A cushion member includes a resilient material body having multiple different diameters defining a body bell-shape. The body includes a solid first portion having a first diameter. An aperture extends through the first portion transverse to a body longitudinal axis. A hollow second portion defines a hollow chamber in communication with the aperture. The second portion has a second diameter larger than the first portion first diameter. A third portion has a third diameter smaller than the second diameter. An end flange is connected to the third portion. The differing first, second, and third diameters induce the body to elastically compress when a force is applied to the end flange and to return to an uncompressed state after force dissipation. A flow rate of air forced out of the hollow chamber during second and third portion compression and out the aperture is restricted by an aperture diameter.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2012Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Tien T. Patent number: 8653402Abstract: A joining method head is proposed for fixation to a movable frame, in particular to a robot, having a holding means for an element to be joined to a part, a joining drive means to move the holding means along a joining direction for joining, and a feeding means for feeding elements to the joining method head. Here a control means to control the joining drive means is arranged at the joining method head spatially distanced from the holding means and the joining drive means, so that the holding means and the joining drive means form a joining tool of small dimensions, and means are provided to pass on the elements fed to a transfer station of the feeding means in each instance to the holding means from in front.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2007Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Manfred Müller, Wolfgang Obermann, Michael Krengel, Klaus Gisbert-Schmitt

Patent number: 8641342Abstract: A welding stud includes a shank and a head flange, which projects radially relative to the shank and whose outer circumference is of polygonal design in order to be able to apply a test torque (T) to the stud by means of a tool. The flange includes an annular section (16) whose front facing and radially extending annular surface is designed as a welding surface. The annular section directly adjoins the flange, and the annular section and the flange form a head section which has a uniform outside diameter (D) throughout, and wherein the polygonal shape of the flange extends over the annular section up to its front annular surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2011Date of Patent: February 4, 2014Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Frank Drexler, Joachim Schneider, Hans-Gerhard Kortmann

Patent number: 8622680Abstract: A grommet has a tubular body with a bore coaxial to a body longitudinal axis. A flange is integrally connected to the body and is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The bore extends through the flange. Multiple legs extend from the tubular body at a body end opposite to the flange. The legs are separated by an elongated slot permitting the legs to inwardly deflect from a non-deflected position toward the longitudinal axis by partially extending into the slot. A service tab assembly positioned in the central bore includes multiple tab extensions, each integrally connected to only one of the legs; and a pull tab positioned entirely in the bore in a non-extended position. The pull tab is connected only to the tab extensions and when displaced in a release direction acts through the tab extensions to equally inwardly displace the legs toward the longitudinal axis.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2012Date of Patent: January 7, 2014Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Tien T. Diep, Girishsingh A. Moksahi

Patent number: 8579566Abstract: This invention relates to a blind fastener having a hollow sleeve with high surface hardness and sufficient elongation, and to a novel heat treatment method therefor. The method for the heat treatment of the blind fastener includes austempering. The austempering includes a step in which a hollow sleeve of cold-rolled low carbon steel with a carbon percentage of 0.08 to 0.13% is heated and maintained from 800° C. to 950° C. during carburization, and a subsequent step in which isothermal maintenance is performed from 320° C. to 500° C. The resulting carbon percentage (CP) value is from 0.3 to 0.5%. Even in the case of a low carbon steel blind fastener, the austempering can harden the surface of the sleeve and soften the inner portion other than the surface for suitable elongation in order to provide a blind fastener having a sleeve with high surface hardness and sufficient elongation.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2011Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventor: Takanori Makino
