Abstract: Systems and methods for multimedia messaging are provided. When a multimedia messaging service center (MMS-C) receives an MMS message for an intended recipient, the MMS-C forms an MMS notification message that includes the MMS message. The MMS-C then sends the MMS notification message to an intended recipient independent of receipt of a retrieval request from the recipient.

Abstract: A simulation platform for early evaluation of the performance of a cdma2000 radio access network uses a generic network simulator as the core simulation engine. The simulation platform includes a mobile device simulation module configured to simulate communications between mobile devices and radio access networks, and a network application simulation module configured to simulate network application functionality. In one embodiment, the network simulation engine, mobile device simulation module and the network application simulation module are linked to emulate end-to-end network communications.

Abstract: Systems and methods for priority wireless communications are provided. When a priority mobile station is registered with a wireless communication network, one or more base stations can establish a priority control channel for serving the priority mobile station. The priority control channel can be an uplink control channel for sending call setup requests, such as traffic channel allocations. The priority control channel can also be a downlink control channel for sending information to priority mobile stations.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a gateway that couples two or more networks are provided. The gateway allows mobile stations with subscriptions in one network to roam and operate in another network. The networks that can be coupled by the gateway include CDMA-based networks, GSM-based networks, iDEN-based network and WiMAX-based networks.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for establishing a communication session. A communication setup request with a service address may be received by a communication server from a first communication device. At least two communication devices associated with the service address may be identified. The communication server may transmit a call setup request to the at least two communication devices. A communication session can be established exclusively between the first communication device and a first one of the at least two communication devices that responds to the call setup request.

Abstract: A system and method for creating a custom-developed service by a customer in a service directory of a network service provider are provided. The data defining the custom-developed service received by the network service provider may be tested, corrected, and verified. The service directory may be established in the provider's network to store the data associated with the custom-developed service. Once the custom-developed service is established and operational, the customer or its subscribers may be billed based on their use of the service.

Abstract: Systems and methods of allocating radio resources are provided. The systems and methods involve assigning each of a plurality of mobile stations to one of a plurality of categories, wherein each of the plurality of categories is associated with a different resource allocation scheme. An amount of available radio resources is allocated to each of the plurality of categories. An amount radio resources assigned to each category is allocated to mobile stations assigned to the category based on the resource allocation scheme associated with the category.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing push-to-application services are provided. A network includes a push-to-application session controller that manages a push-to-application session between an application and a client. The network also includes a media controller, coupled to the session controller, that transfers media between the client and the application. The network further includes an application synchronizer, coupled to the session controller, that controls synchronization between media provided by the media controller to the client and data provided by the application to the client.

Abstract: A system for posting web logging (blog) messages, retrieving blog messages, and being notified of the posting of blog messages by way of dispatch communications. The system includes a wireless communication system capable of setting up dispatch communications links between subscriber units and a dispatch server. The dispatch server interfaces with a blog server. Using dispatch communications, subscriber units may send messages to the blog server for posting by way of the dispatch server, may receive notification of the posting of messages from the blog server by way of the dispatch server, and may retrieve messages from the blog server by way of the dispatch server.

Abstract: A system and method for obtaining an internet address associated with a telephone number is disclosed. In an embodiment of the present invention, a wireless carrier network includes a subscriber database and an ENUM gateway. The ENUM gateway receives an ENUM query related to a subscriber of the wireless carrier from a third party, consults the subscriber database in response to the received ENUM query, and provides an ENUM response to the ENUM query to the third party after consulting the subscriber database.

Abstract: A print server and method for forwarding printing data in a network are provided. The print server receives an IP address of a printer and a uniform resource identifier of printing data from a mobile station. The print server determines which printer corresponds to the IP address and forwards the printing data to the printer for printing, thereby allowing a mobile station to print data in remote locations. The mobile station does not have to format the printing data or transmit the formatted printing data, thereby reducing the burden on the operating system and the storage space of the mobile station.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for conducting a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) push-to-talk (PTT) call is disclosed. In an embodiment of the apparatus of the present invention, the apparatus includes a communications device coupled to a service provider network. The communications device includes a processor which converts a PTT communication from a first format to a second format. In an embodiment of a method of the present invention, the method includes converting a PTT communication from a first format to a second format by the processor of the communications device coupled to the service provider network.

Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium for establishing a push-to-talk social group are provided. According to the method, group setup information is received from a member of the push-to-talk social group, and a data transmission, including an internet address of an internet application that manages push-to-talk social groups, is sent to each member of the push-to-talk social group. Push-to-talk calling may be monitored in a push-to-talk gateway application, based upon the group setup information. When a push-to-talk call is detected in which a first member of the push-to-talk social group is active, other members of the push-to-talk social group are informed that the first member is active on the detected push-to-talk call. Other members of the group may then initiate a push-to-talk call with the first member.

Abstract: Systems and methods for visual light communication are provided. The system can include a gateway arranged to convert radio frequency communications into visual light communication signals and an active light relay arranged to exchange visual light communication signals with the gateway. The system also includes a passive light relay arranged to exchange visual light communication signals with the active light relay and a communication device arranged to exchange visual light communication signals with one of the active light relay of the passive light relay.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable mediums for processing push-to-talk voice messages are provided. According to one method, a first mobile station receives a push-to-talk voice message from a second mobile station, determines that a data object is attached to the push-to-talk voice message, determines a type of the data object, and stores the data object in a PTT attachment queue of the first mobile station, based upon the determined type of the data object, which may be a picture, video data, audio data, e-mail, document, contact, or the like.

Abstract: A wireless communications system includes a radio network facilitating wireless communications with a wireless subscriber unit, a dispatch application server providing dispatch communications services to the subscriber unit via the radio network, and an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) infrastructure including a Proxy-Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF) and a Serving-CSCF (S-CSCF). The P-CSCF notifies the dispatch application server of subscriber unit registration events, allowing the dispatch application server to provide dispatch communications services without initiating a separate registration process. Dispatch communications are routed between the wireless subscriber unit and dispatch application server through the P-CSCF, bypassing the S-CSCF of the IMS infrastructure.

Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium for posting push-to-talk voice messages on a social networking web page of a user are provided. According to the method, a messaging platform receives a push-to-talk voice message that is addressed to a social networking message service from a mobile station of the user. The messaging platform determines whether an association exists between the mobile station and the social networking web page. When the association exists, the push-to-talk voice message is posted on the social networking web page of the user. The user can listen to the PTT voice messages on his or her social networking web page via the internet.

Abstract: An apparatus, method and computer-readable medium for controlling dispatch voice communications between fleets in a network are provided. The apparatus includes a multi-fleet dispatch console configured to receive a request for a dispatch group call including dispatch stations in a plurality of fleets and to establish the dispatch group call based upon the request. The multi-fleet dispatch console has a higher priority than any other dispatch console in the network. According to the method, the multi-fleet dispatch console may also determine whether a requestor of the dispatch group call is authorized to establish the requested dispatch group call and output an authorization denial message, if the requestor is not authorized to establish the dispatch group call. Additionally, the multi-fleet dispatch console may drop unavailable dispatch stations from existing group calls, if a priority of the request exceeds a priority of the existing group calls.

Abstract: A network architecture for underground communication using redundant interconnected communication systems utilizes an aboveground master control station to send a status request message to a belowground gateway. The gateway may then, in turn, broadcast a status request message to a plurality of communication hubs located throughout an underground region using each of a plurality of potentially available communication systems. In the event that one of the communication hubs fails to respond over the then-current communication system, the master control station may switch the current communication system being used to a truly available system.

Abstract: Systems and methods of call setup and information delivery are provided. Calls can be setup between communication units supported by a local area network and those supported by a wide area network using presence information of either or both of the wide area and local area networks.
