Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium for precedence group calling in a dispatch station is provided. The method includes: receiving a precedence order for each of a plurality of group call originators, based upon a group call identifier of each of the plurality of group call originators; receiving a new group call from one of the plurality of group call originators; and automatically switching the dispatch station from a current group call to the new group call, if the group call identifier of the originator of the new group call has a higher precedence than the group call identifier of the originator of the current group call.
Abstract: Systems and methods of setting up a push-to-talk call are provided. When a push-to-talk server receives a request for a push-to-talk call from an originating mobile station, the server sends a push-to-talk call notification to a destination mobile station identified in the request and starts a timer. Upon expiration of the timer the server determines whether the originating mobile station has a traffic channel for the push-to-talk call.

Abstract: A multi-carrier base transceiver system is configured to improve sector throughout by selectively allocating available carriers to subscribers based on Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, as well as the prevailing radio frequency (RF) environment for the subject subscriber. In one embodiment, the base transceiver may provide three separate carriers, each represented as a forward link channel in which individual time slots are separately allocated according to a scheduling protocol. Once the QoS requirements and prevailing RF conditions are determined, a number of the available carriers are allocated such that the desired throughput is achieved using a fewest number of carriers.
Abstract: Systems and methods for adjustable transmit diversity (adjustable PSTD) are provided. A base station transmits information to a mobile station over two antennas. Using information received from the mobile station related to channel conditions, the base station can adjust a frequency offset between the information transmitted over the two antennas.
Abstract: A system and method for providing a communication between public safety officials is disclosed. In a system of the invention, a communications network architecture includes a base transceiver station hub where the base transceiver station hub includes public safety network communications equipment and non-public safety network communications equipment. The architecture also includes a plurality of distributed antenna system (DAS) nodes and the base transceiver station hub is operatively coupled to the plurality of DAS nodes. In a method of the present invention, the method includes providing the public safety communication from the base transceiver station hub to one of a plurality of distributed antenna system (DAS) nodes by public safety network communications equipment included in the base transceiver station hub.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for establishing a communication session between a first and second communication device. A request may be received for a communication session from the first communication device, the request indicating a language for media streams transmitted to, and received from, the first communication device. A communication session invitation specifying a plurality of languages supported for the communication session may be transmitted to the second communication device. A response may be received, from the second communication device, indicating a language for media streams transmitted to, and received from, the second communication device. The communication session, between the first and second communications devices may be established such that the media streams transmitted to, and received from, the first and second communications device are in a language indicated by the first and second communications devices respectively.
Abstract: Systems and methods for wireless networks with inner and outer cells are provided. A base station determines an amount of traffic on an inner and outer cell. When the traffic exceed a predetermined threshold value, traffic is adjusted on the inner or outer cell. Traffic can be adjusted by handing off some of the traffic from the inner cell to the outer cell, from the outer cell to the inner cell, between sectors of the inner or outer cells and/or by handing off traffic to a proximately located base station.
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing services for stations supported by a residential gateway are provided. The residential gateway can support one or more fixed-line station and/one or more mobile stations. The mobile stations can be supported by a wireless macro network and/or the residential gateway. Services such as simultaneous ringing, distinctive ringing, call transfer, extension functionality, and the like can be provided for the mobile station and the fixed-line station.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing data to mobile stations are provided. An administrator can select one or more mobile stations and different types of data. The administrator can also set a priority level for the selected data. The selected data is then formed into a package of data, which is then provided to the selected mobile stations. The selected mobile stations can then store the data in memory along with any previously stored data, using the priority level of the selected data to determine whether to overwrite or discard particular data.

Abstract: Systems and methods for allowing transmission of tones by a push-to-talk (PTT) communication station are provided. The communication station can decouple the PTT button of the PTT communication station, allowing the transmission of the tones without actuating the PTT button. The decoupling can be performed in response to receipt of an unsolicited floor grant message. The communication station can also receive an input selection and automatically transmit a floor request message, a tone corresponding to the input selection and a floor release message.
Abstract: Systems and methods for handover of a mobile station to a base station are provided. Handover criteria for determining which base station to handover to is different for different candidate base stations. This difference can account for base station loading and/or environmental factors. The handover criteria can include a threshold and hysteresis value. A wireless communication system can employ a fixed threshold and hysteresis value for all base stations, and these fixed values are adjusted differently for different candidate base stations.
Abstract: Systems and methods of establishing group calls are provided. Contact index information is synchronized between a communication unit and a contact synchronization server. A group call request message, including index information for one or more contacts, is sent from a communication unit to a signaling server. The signaling server uses the index information to obtain communication unit addresses from the contact synchronization server.
