  • Publication number: 20040193740
Abstract: A system and method for data management according to the content of the data. The present invention enables data to be stored in one of a plurality of different storage options according to at least one characteristic of the data, in which the at least one characteristic is related to the content of the data. The present invention comprises a rule-based storage management mechanism for the processes of archiving and/or retrieving data. It should be noted that at least one storage option according to the present invention is optionally deletion and/or destruction of the data, such that the data may optionally be removed from storage media or may optionally not be stored initially on the storage media. Optionally and more preferably, the data is stored for a time interval according to the at least one characteristic of the data. Most preferably, the data is moved to a different type of storage option after an event occurs, for example the time interval has elapsed.

  • Patent number: 6046824
Abstract: A passive long term facsimile transmission storage and retrieval system, which includes a facsimile logger passively or actively coupled to at least one telephone line connected to a facsimile machine is provided. The facsimile logger acquires and stores the facsimile transmissions that occur on the telephone line, on long term archive media. The system also includes a database coupled to the facsimile logger and at least one workstation coupled to the facsimile logger. The database holds relevant data associated with the stored facsimile transmission. The workstation is able to search for and retrieve the facsimile transmissions previously stored by the facsimile logger on the long term archive media. The fax logger also includes the capability for a user to enter a series of numbers that provide information concerning the identity of the operator, the account number for billing purposes and any subaddressing related data. The series of numbers are entered on the keypad of the fax machine.

  • Patent number: 5937029
Abstract: A novel logging system employing M?(N+1! redundancy is disclosed having applications in recording both voice and facsimile transactions. The logging system includes M chains of N+1 loggers. Each N+1 chain includes N working loggers and a single spare logger. Within each chain, each working logger is coupled to a switch unit. Each switch unit is coupled between a group of input telephone lines and one working logger. The switch units are coupled to each other in a serial daisy chain fashion. The switch furthest downstream is coupled to a spare logger which is activated in the event one the working loggers fails. The switches include watchdog circuitry to detect the failure of a working logger. Once detected, the telephone lines coupled to the failed logger are rerouted to the spare logger. The system can support any number of working loggers by sectioning the working loggers into separate chains. Each chain includes a group of N working loggers covered by a single spare logger.

  • Patent number: 5826180
Abstract: A radio frequency receiver and method for operating one is disclosed. The receiver includes a tuning unit, an inphase-quadrature (I/Q) mixer, and a calibrated image rejection processor. The tuning unit selectably tunes to a tuning frequency close but not equal to an input modulated radio frequency and creates thereby a periodic signal having the tuning frequency. The I/Q mixer convolves the modulated radio frequency signal with inphase and quadrature versions of the periodic signal and low pass filters the resultant signals. The calibrated image rejection processor corrects at least one of the filtered resultant signals and performs image rejection on the corrected signals.
