  • Patent number: 7744121
Abstract: An airbag, which is folded and assembled elongatedly, is deployed along a side window. The airbag has a folded portion and a pleated portion which wraps the folded portion under the assembled condition. The airbag also has an inner tube which is provided from the inside of an infusion portion to the inside of an upstream portion of an inflating portion. The inner tube prevents that the airbag is damaged by heat of inflation gas. When the airbag is assembled, the inner tube is positioned along a first fabric, which is developed so that the surface of the first fabric faces an inside of a vehicle compartment, by the infused fluid. Deployment performance of the airbag (curtain airbag deploying along a side window of an automobile) is improved.

  • Patent number: 7731225
Abstract: In an airbag provided in a folded condition, a front end of the airbag includes a pulled-out section provided by pulling out the end of the airbag. In the airbag in a stored condition, an oblique path from a front end of the airbag to a fixed point of a front pillar can be reached by the pulled-out section. In the developed condition of the airbag, the pulled-out section can further draw the position of the front end of the airbag to the front side, thereby providing an increased protection range by the airbag.

  • Publication number: 20100133790
Abstract: An airbag is formed of two base fabrics. An adhesive agent is pasted with some width on one of the base fabrics and then another of the base fabrics is put on the one of the base fabrics. The two fabrics are adhered together to form the airbag. Pasting start/end portions of the adhesive agent is set at a gas introducing portion of the airbag. Pasting start/end points (terminal ends of the start/end portions) is located outside a path in the gas introducing portion through which a gas is introduced into an inside of the airbag. According to an airbag with the airbag, assembling workability of the airbag can be improved.

  • Patent number: 7665765
Abstract: An air bag 12 is spread flatly. Along four lines “R” that extend radially outward, the air bag 12 is sandwiched and held by line part forming units. By using a first press pieces 44, a portion between the neighboring lines “R” is pressed toward the gas inlet opening to form a first gathering portion, and form a ear portion 52 along each line “R”. Then, each ear portion 52 is pressed by a second press piece 45 to form a second gathering portion 54 that is like a bellows. When a gas is introduced into the gas inlet opening 26, the second gathering portion 54 is quickly expanded and increase of internal pressure of the air bag can be controlled. In the folding process, there is no need of turning the air bag 12 and thus a production device can be made simple in construction.

Since the coil spring 25 does not affect vibration of the air bag module 20 in the direction perpendicular to the axis, it is possible to set a spring constant of the coil spring 25 at a value appropriate for the operation of a horn switch 37, and to set a spring constant of the damper spring 26 at a value appropriate for the operation of the dynamic damper. As a result, it is possible to effectively reduce the vibration of the steering wheel 11 in the direction perpendicular to the axis with the dynamic damper without affecting the operability of the horn switch 37.
