  • Publication number: 20050273050
Abstract: To provide a catheter and a method for infusion therapy that can effectively transluminally deliver drugs or the like to a target spot without invading areas other than a diseased area. The catheter is a balloon catheter for insertion into a blood vessel in which four lumens extending along an axis are formed in one catheter body, and two balloons are arranged axially in parallel. The plurality of lumens include: an infusion lumen that communicates with an infusion hole between the two balloons; balloon lumens that communicate with insides of the two balloons to expand the balloons; and a guide lumen that also serves as a bypass lumen that communicates with an outside of the catheter body in each position distal and proximal, which is outside of the two balloons with respect to a tip a of the catheter body, and bypasses an occluded area formed by the two balloons to allow blood flow.

  • Patent number: 6959614
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the movement of a specimen in order to handle the specimen, e.g., a cell, easily and quickly with high accuracy. A standing wave vibration (V) having at least one node (N1, N2) is generated in a vibrator (11). A specimen in a medium (30) is captured at a position in the vicinity of the surface of the node (N1, N2) and then turned in this position. The capturing position of the specimen (S) is altered through variable control of the vibration mode of the standing wave vibration (V), and the moving route, moving speed, or rotational speed of the specimen (S) is controlled as desired through variable control of the vibration parameters (e.g., frequency, amplitude, intermittent frequency) of the standing wave vibration (V).

  • Publication number: 20050223705
Abstract: In the pressure oscillation generator 1, self-excited vibration is generated in a work transfer tube 30 by heating a heat input section 22 and also a resonator 50 is resonated, and when a work is inputted into a heat exchanger 20, the work is amplified by the heat exchanger 20, and is transferred to the heat transfer tube 30 and is then outputted to an output section 40. Because of the configuration, an outputted work can be amplified to a work larger than the inputted work, so that, by using a portion of the outputted work as energy for driving the cylinder 10, the pressure oscillation generator 1 can continuously be driven only by heating and without using electric energy generated by a large scale solar system or the like, which enables substantial size reduction of the pressure oscillation generator 1.

  • Publication number: 20050159703
Abstract: To provide infusion therapy that can effectively transluminally deliver drugs or the like to a target spot without invading areas other than a diseased area. The infusion therapy is for administering a drug, cells or the like, or inserting a treatment instrument into the target diseased area. A blood vessel area including a bifurcated blood vessel connecting to the diseased area is occluded at the distal and the proximal region thereof to form an occluded area, and the drugs or the like are pumped and supplied to the occluded area, which causes the drugs or the like to flow retrogressively and retentively in the bifurcated blood vessel connecting in the occluded area, and be infused and administered to the diseased area.

  • Publication number: 20050144167
Abstract: In the basic form of merge processing, that is sort processing, two sorted partial data string pairs are input, and one series of sorted data string is output as a whole. Conventionally, high parallelism of this processing has been considered difficult. A method for dividing a sorted partial data string pair into a plurality of segment pairs, if invented, would allow an advanced parallel merge processing to be performed even in a homogeneous configuration parallel computer system, such as a tightly coupled multi-processor sharing a main storage. The basis of merge processing is processing to input a pair of two sorted partial data strings and to output one sorted data string. A method for sub-dividing this input data string pair into arbitrary data string pairs from the first part of both data strings of the input data string pair, while considering the magnitude of the key value, has been invented.

  • Patent number: 6814028
Abstract: A milking apparatus for laboratory animals enables a milking operation to be performed on a laboratory animal (such as a rat) by a single experimenter, and also enables universal milking data to be obtained that is not influenced by individual difference among experimenters. A teat cup enables milking to be performed directly from the nipple of a relatively small and prolific laboratory animal such as a rat and mouse. The invention provides useful means for clarifying the influence of harmful extrinsic substances on living organisms via milk. The apparatus comprises a milk-collecting container 10 whose inside can be kept blocked from the outside air, two, i.e., a first and second, tubes 12, 13 inserted into the milk-collecting container in a communicated manner, and a teat cup 20 replaceably mounted on the other end of the first tube 12.

  • Patent number: 6807861
Abstract: A noncontact physical property measurement instrument which easily and accurately measures physical properties of an object using a nondestructive, noncontact sensor. A noncontact physical property measurement instrument 1 is provided with a transmitting section 21 and a receiving section 22. The transmitting section 21 sends a wave to an object 41 in a medium 100, and the receiving section 22 receives a wave reflected from the object 41 and the surface of a coating 42. Both the transmitting section 21 and the receiving section 22 are connected to a gain change correction circuit 13 to form a self-excited oscillating circuit 11 serving as a feedback loop. The gain change correction circuit 13 corrects the gain to the increase side according to a phase difference between the sent wave and the reflected wave, to thereby measure any changes due to a difference in physical properties of the object 41.
