  • Patent number: 4804235
Abstract: A vehicle air brake system including a deceleration sensing device having a piston cooperating with a lever carrying a magnetic roller for operating a reed switch. Movement of the piston depends upon the magnitude of the air pressure acting on it, and such pressure is proportional to the degree of brake energization. Movement of the piston moves the lever to vary the degree of deceleration required to move the roller for operating the reed switch. Operation of the reed switch operates an electro-magnetic valve to modulate the degree of braking force applied to the front and rear vehicle axles.

  • Patent number: 4785579
Abstract: A circular door operating method and apparatus comprising two pairs of arcked door leaves, two pairs of arcked fixed panels arranged so as to form an enclosure defining a cylindrical wind blocking compartment. Each door leaf is hinged at an end and releasably coupled at the other end to a hanger assembly traveling on a circular track by means of a pulley mechanism. When a door leaf is released from the hanger assembly to pivot about upper and lower hinge mechanisms for operation as a hinged door, not only the upper and lower hinge mechanisms firmly support the door leaf in place but also a control unit disables the sliding door operation, thus providing a quick and safe escape from the building in the event of an emergency.

  • Patent number: 4765806
Abstract: A control method for a dual-cylinder moisture removal apparatus of a pneumatic system is taught. The control method places a limitation on the time for drying of moist air in a drying cylinder. The drying of moist air in one drying cylinder and the regeneration of the absorbent used to dry moist air in a second cylinder are alternated at each predetermined time. When the air compressor is stopped each drying cylinder is switched to a reverse position to the position it occupied just prior to the stopping of the air compressor. Furthermore, when the air compressor resumes operation, the position of each drying cylinder is maintained in the position it occupied just before resumption of operation of the air compressor.

  • Patent number: 4763261
Abstract: A wheel-speed detecting arrangement for detecting the wheel-speed of a vehicle having a fixed wheel-and-axle configuration includes a wheel generator connected to the wheel/axle configuration such that a first distance signal is produced indicating rotational displacement of the wheel. This first distance signal is then synchronized by use of a basic clock and passed onto a first counter which produces a first data signal indicative of the number of distance pulses. A second counter, enabled as a function of the output of the first counter, measures the number of clock pulses occurring within a measuring time period and generates a second data signal representing that time count. The first distance signal also operates a latch circuit such that, upon initial occurrence of any distance pulse, a reading of the second counter is taken and passed through to a calculating circuit.

  • Patent number: 4758254
Abstract: This invention provides a pneumatic system moisture-removal apparatus wherein an end surface of an absorbent body is formed as a conical shape. The apparatus includes an end plate approximately perpendicular to the axial direction of the absorbent body fixed on the top portion of the end surface of the cone. A narrow space is located between the end plate and the conical-shaped end surface which serves as a passageway for compressed air. Compressed air is supplied to the apparatus from an outside circumference of the absorbent body to the center in a radial direction. The moisture-removal apparatus includes a honeycomb-type cylindrical absorbent body having a plurality of apertures. Compressed air is communicated into one end surface of the absorbent body in an axial direction. Moisture is extracted as the air passes through the apertures and is discharged from the opposite end surface of the absorbent body.

  • Patent number: 4756669
Abstract: An air compressor pressure adjustment device designed such that any values between two set points are determined and used as first and second standard values. When the air pressure in the reservoir decreases to the first standard value the air compressor is driven at a low speed. When the air pressure increases in the reservoir and reaches an upper limit set point the compressor is turned off. When this air pressure decreases to less than the lower limit set point, the air compressor is started once more.
