Abstract: Provided is a joining method that can prevent a plastic flowing material from flowing out from a butt section and that can reduce the thickness and weight of metal members. The joining method is for joining a first metal member and a second metal member by using a rotary tool comprising a stirring pin, and is characterized in that: the stirring pin comprises a flat surface perpendicular to the rotation axis of the rotary tool and comprises a protruding section protruding from the flat face; and in a friction stirring step, the flat surface is brought into contact with the first metal member and the second metal member, and a front end face of the protruding section is inserted deeper than an upper overlapping section to join an upper front butt section and the upper overlapping section.
Abstract: Certain embodiments relate to a heat exchanger plate capable of performing friction stir welding at a deep position of the heat exchanger plate, and improving air-tightness and water-tightness. A method may include a lid groove closing process to insert a lid plate into a lid groove formed at a periphery of a concave groove opening to a surface of a base member. The method may also include a primary joining process to perform friction stirring while relatively moving a primary joining rotary tool equipped with a stirring pin along a butting portion of a side wall of the lid groove and a side surface of the lid plate. In the primary joining process, the rotating stirring pin may be inserted into the butting portion, and the friction stirring may be performed in a state of only the stirring pin being in contact with the base member and the lid plate.
Abstract: An aluminum alloy material for use in thermal conduction to which improved castability has been imparted by silicon addition. It has improved thermal conductivity and improved strength. The material has a composition containing 7.5-12.5 mass % Si and 0.1-2.0 mass % Cu, the remainder being Al and unavoidable impurities, wherein the amount of copper in the state of a solid solution in the matrix phase is regulated to 0.3 mass % or smaller. The composition may further contain at least 0.3 mass % Fe and/or at least 0.1 mass % Mg, provided that the sum of (Fe content) and (content of Mg among the impurities)×2 is 1.0 mass % or smaller and the sum of (Cu content), (content of Mg among the impurities)×2.5, and (content of Zn among the impurities) is 2.0 mass % or smaller.

The first aluminum alloy is higher in hardness than the second aluminum alloy in material type. Abstract: A support frame for a pellicle includes a frame body made of an aluminum alloy. The frame body has: a top surface onto which a pellicle film is bonded; and an underside surface onto which a transparent substrate is bonded. A material of which the frame body is made has a Young's modulus larger than that of which the transparent substrate is made. The structure described above makes it possible to reduce deformation of the transparent substrate.
Abstract: To provide a conductive member capable of suppressing an increase in contact resistance, and a production method therefor. To solve the problem by providing a conductive member having a Ni plating layer 3 on the surface of contact parts 2 provided on a substrate 1, an arithmetic average roughness Sa of the surface of the Ni plating layer 3 being 20 nm or more. In the Ni plating layer 3, the full width half maximum of a peak at the position of a Ni (200) plane in an x-ray diffraction diagram is preferably 0.6 or less, and an indentation hardness HIT of the Ni plating layer 3 is preferably 5000 n/mm2 or less.
Abstract: A substrate for biochips, in which carboxyl groups are immobilized on a substrate whose surface at least is composed of carbon; and a method for producing the substrate are disclosed. The substrate for biochips comprises a substrate whose surface at least is composed of carbon; and an acrylic polymer having free carboxyl groups in the molecular structure thereof, which acrylic polymer is immobilized on the surface of the substrate. The method for producing the substrate comprises irradiating the substrate whose surface at least is composed of carbon with ultraviolet light during the acrylic polymer having free carboxyl groups in the molecular structure thereof contacts the substrate.

Abstract: A joining method includes a butting process configured to butt a first metal member and a second metal member each having a front surface with various heights to form therebetween a butt portion with various heights; and a welding process configured to apply a friction stirring to the butt portion by a stirring pin of a rotation tool while only the stirring pin of the rotation tool contacts with the first metal member and the second metal member of the butt portion. The welding process may be configured to insert the stirring pin of the rotation tool into the butt portion from front surfaces of the first metal member and the second metal member and apply the friction stirring to the butt portion while an insertion depth of only the stirring pin is kept approximately constant.

Abstract: A support frame for a pellicle, in which a pellicle film is adhered to the front surface of an aluminum-alloy frame body, and a transparent substrate is adhered to the rear surface of the frame body. A recessed groove is formed in the rear surface of the frame body, the recessed groove extending along the periphery of the frame body, and a vent hole is formed from the outer peripheral surface of the frame body to the inner surface of the recessed groove. With this configuration, deformation of the support frame can be suppressed when the support frame is removed from the transparent substrate.
Abstract: Provided is a method of recovering rare-earth elements by performing slight pH adjustment of a leachate, which does not require such significant pH adjustment as in conventional methods, reduces cost and effort, and can efficiently recover rare-earth elements in a bauxite residue in a good yield.
