  • Patent number: 4874436
Abstract: A method is provided for producing high purity electrolytic copper useful, for example, to make a copper wire for use in sound or image reproducing systems, such as audio, video and television systems, etc. The copper wire consists of high purity copper in which silver and sulfur contents are both not more than 0.5 ppm and preferably has a crystal grain size not less than 0.02 mm and is unidirectionally solidified or is a single crystal. Such a copper wire is manufactured by continuously casting electrodeposited copper which has been obtained by refining by re-electrolysis of electrolytic copper, using a specially arranged casting apparatus having a mold projecting to an electrolytic bath.

  • Patent number: 4816748
Abstract: An electronic hygrometer and an electronic thermohygrometer both comprising oscillation means and digital operation processing means. The oscillation means of the hygrometer includes a square-wave pulse signal generator, a humidity sensor connected to the generator and which exhibits characteristics variable with the humidity change of the atmosphere, and a passive element connected to the generator and which forms a time constant circuit with the characteristics of the humidity sensor, the passive element being of a type different from the humidity sensor. The oscillation means produces square-wave pulse signals corresponding to changes in the characteristics of the sensor. The digital operation processing means of the hygrometer counts the frequency of the square-wave pulse signals output from the oscillation means and determines the humidity of the atmosphere on the basis of the counted value.

  • Patent number: 4799975
Abstract: A .beta. type titanium alloy material is passed through processes and heating treatments of cold working--intermediate solution treatment--final cold working--final solution treatment--aging. In this process, a structure, which has been provided with strains by the cold working performed prior to the final cold working, will be changed into a recrystallized structure by carrying out the intermediate solution treatment, where uniform and fine micro substructure of dislocations, remain with grains. If such an intermediate solution-treated material is processed with a slight cold working by the final cold working and further with the solution treatment, only a recovery phenomenon progresses, and it is possible to provide such a micro substructure containing more uniform and finer dislocation network not only in grains but also in grain boundaries. Therefore, in the aging, expedition of precipitation and uniform distribution of .alpha.

  • Patent number: 4786186
Abstract: A device with vertical buoyancy tanks fitted to its upper part is provided with rotors which generate horizontal and vertical propulsion, and which stirs the liquid uniformly as it moves freely through a liquid storage tank, thereby preventing the accumulation of sludge. The vertical buoyancy tanks stabilize the stirrer and provide a restoring force if the stirrer is upset. The stirrer is fitted with an ultrasonic wave emitter, and ultrasonic receptors are installed at several positions in the liquid tank. An ultrasonic pulse is emitted after a certain interval when the stirrer is at rest on the bottom of the tank. The position of the stirrer is computed for each pulse emission, and the average is taken to give the actual position of the stirrer.
