  • Patent number: 8629586
Abstract: An electric rotating machine includes a rotor, a stator in which a coil is so wound as to have an coil end, and a coolant supply pipe. The coolant supply pipe lies with a length thereof extending substantially parallel to an axis of rotation of the rotor and is disposed above the stator in a direction of gravitational force. The coolant supply pipe has a first and a second coolant outlet through which coolant is to be emitted to the coil end. The first and the second coolant outlets are so oriented as to direct streams of the coolant to a first area and a second area of the coil end which are different in location from each other. This enables the coolant to be emitted to almost the whole of the coil end even when the electric rotating machine is titled in a direction in which the rotor turns.

  • Patent number: 8622870
Abstract: An in-vehicle power transmission apparatus is equipped with a plurality of power split rotors and a power transmission control mechanism. The power split rotors work to split power among a rotary electric machine such as a motor-generator, an internal combustion engine, and a driven wheel of the vehicle. If rotational energy, as outputted from the power split rotors, is defined as being positive in sign, the power split rotors are so assembled that when the power transmission control mechanism establishes transmission of the rotational energy that is positive in sign as the power from a first rotor that is one of the power split rotors to the internal combustion engine, the other power split rotors are so linked as to provide output rotational energies which are opposite in sign to each other. This enables the speed of the first rotor to be placed at substantially zero.

  • Patent number: 8616061
Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor includes a transmitting device, a receiving device, and a circuit device. The circuit device determines that the receiving device receives an ultrasonic wave reflected from an object, when an output voltage of the receiving device is equal to or greater than a first threshold. The circuit device includes a humidity detection section configured to detect an ambient humidity of the transmitting and receiving devices and a threshold adjustment section configured to calculate, based on the detected ambient humidity, a sound pressure of the ultrasonic wave that is received by the receiving device after propagating over a round-trip distance between the ultrasonic sensor and the object. The threshold adjustment section reduces the first threshold, when the output voltage corresponding to the calculated sound pressure is less than a second threshold that is greater the first threshold.

  • Patent number: 8615351
Abstract: A driving assistance apparatus mounted to a vehicle is disclosed. The apparatus determines whether an amount of change in tire wheel speed of each tire wheel of the vehicle exceeds a threshold. The apparatus specifies a tire wheel crossing order, which is an order in which the tire wheels of the vehicle cross over a level difference between a road and a parking lot when the vehicle crosses over the level difference. The apparatus determines whether or not the vehicle has crossed over the level difference between the road and the parking lot, based on whether a threshold-exceeding order is identical to the specified tire wheel crossing order. The threshold-exceeding order is an order in which the amounts of change in the tire wheel speed of the respective tire wheels exceed the threshold.

  • Patent number: 8602933
Abstract: A power transmission device includes a planetary gear set and a first and a second connecting mechanism. The planetary gear set receives power from a power source and outputs it to a power-driven member. The first connecting mechanism connects a first and a second rotor of the planetary gear set through a separate path. The second connecting mechanism connects the second rotor and a third rotor of the planetary gear set through a separate path. The controller is operable selectively in a first operation mode in which the second connecting mechanism is engaged, while the first connecting mechanism is disengaged and a second operation mode in which the second connecting mechanism is engaged, while the first connecting mechanism is disengaged. This ensures suitable mechanical connections among the power source, the power-driven member, and the power split mechanism which match with an operating condition of the power transmission device.

  • Patent number: 8603692
Abstract: A fuel cell stack comprises a stack of three or more fuel cells, each having an assembly in which an anode electrode and a cathode electrode are respectively joined to either side of an electrolytic membrane. The anode electrode is provided nearer to one end, in the stack direction of the fuel cell, than the cathode electrode. Temperature regulating parts for regulating the temperature of the anode electrode of one fuel cell of any two adjacent fuel cells and the cathode electrode of the other fuel cell are disposed at a plurality of positions arranged in the stack direction. The provided temperature regulating parts perform temperature regulation so that the heat dissipating capability of the anode electrode is different in the stack direction from that of the cathode electrode.

  • Patent number: 8598918
Abstract: When a transmission signal is detected as having been changed from a high level to a low level, two transmission lines are connected for only a predetermined time through a diode by a first transistor and a second transistor. The diode is arranged such that its forward direction is from a high-side transmission line to a low-side transmission line. The diode turns on, when a potential of the high-side transmission line becomes higher than that of the low-side transmission line by ringing and a potential difference therebetween exceeds a forward drop voltage of the diode. As a result, a peak wave level of a positive side in the ringing is limited to the forward drop voltage of the diode.

  • Patent number: 8591360
Abstract: A power transmission apparatus for a vehicle which includes a first and a second planetary gear set to transmit power to a driven wheel. A ring gear of the first planetary gear set is coupled to the driven wheel. A carrier of the first planetary gear set is coupled to a ring gear of the second planetary gear set. A carrier and a sun gear of the second planetary gear set are so linked as to have signs of power which are opposite each other. A sign of speed of the ring gear of the second planetary gear set is reversed under the condition that the a sign of speed of a motor-generator is fixed, thereby reversing the sign of speed of the carrier of the first planetary gear set, which eliminate the circulation of power between the sun gear and the carrier of the first planetary gear set.
