  • Publication number: 20130112164
Abstract: A laser ignition apparatus includes a housing that has a male-threaded portion for fixing the housing and a hexagonal portion for tightening the male-threaded portion. Between a combustion chamber-side end of the male-threaded portion and an anti-combustion chamber-side end of the hexagonal portion, there is defined a non-optical element arrangement region in which none of an introducing optical element, an enlarging optical element and a focusing optical element of the apparatus is arranged. At one of a combustion chamber-side end and an anti-combustion chamber-side end of the non-optical element arrangement region, there is formed a reference surface that extends perpendicular to an axial direction of the housing. One of the introducing optical element, the enlarging optical element and the focusing optical element is received in the housing in such a manner as to be elastically pressed against the reference surface from outside of the non-optical element arrangement region.

  • Patent number: 8433477
Abstract: In a steering control apparatus, a worm gear is configured to have a lead angle for a self-lock operation, by which a worm wheel is allowed to rotate by rotation of a worm but the worm is not allowed to rotate by rotation of the worm wheel. Thus, a lock mechanism need not be provided separately from a gear mechanism and the apparatus is reduced in entire size. A VGRS control part checks whether the worm gear has a self-lock failure, which disables the self-lock operation. If the worm gear has the self-lock failure, idling suppression processing is performed to suppress idling of a steering wheel. Thus, even when the self-lock failure arises, the steering wheel is suppressed from idling.

  • Publication number: 20130093394
Abstract: An AC-DC converter converts an alternating-current voltage, supplied from an external power supply, to a direct-current voltage higher than a peak voltage of the alternating-current voltage, and outputs the direct-current voltage to a first power supply line. In a normal control mode, a DC-DC converter steps down a voltage of the power supply line through on/off control over a switching element to charge a main battery. On the other hand, in an upper arm ON control mode, the DC-DC converter charge the main battery while the switching element is kept in an on state. On the basis of a state of external charging, a control device applies the upper arm ON control mode when a condition that upper arm ON control is applicable is satisfied, and applies the normal control mode when the condition is not satisfied.

  • Publication number: 20130059226
Abstract: According to a manufacturing method for a fuel cell, an insulating member having a plurality of communication holes therein is disposed on a side of a gas diffusion layer, which is formed by stacking a layer made of a carbon fiber and a water-repellent layer, where the water-repellent layer is provided, the gas diffusion layer and the insulating member are sandwiched by a pair of electrodes, and a pair of contact pressure plates are disposed on respective rear surfaces of the pair of electrodes so as to sandwich the pair of electrodes so that the gas diffusion layer is pressurized by the pair of contact pressure plates. When a voltage is applied to the pair of electrodes while maintaining the pressurized state, an electric current flows through a protrusion portion of a carbon fiber which comes in contact with the electrode on the water-repellent layer side via the communication holes of the insulating member, so that the protrusion portion of the carbon fiber is burned and removed by Joule heat.

  • Patent number: 8388328
Abstract: In an inner wall surface of a casing, grooves are formed that correspond to end faces of an outer rotor and an inner rotor, and seal members are disposed within the grooves, the seal members presses against the end faces of the outer rotor and the inner rotor. Inclined portions are provided in sealing portions of resin members of seal members, the sealing portions covering a closed portion. With this configuration, an internal pressure in the closed portion causes the inclined portions to separate from an outer rotor and an inner rotor when a brake fluid pressure within the closed portion increases to the point that the brake fluid is excessively compressed, releasing the brake fluid that is inside the closed portion. It is therefore possible to prevent the brake fluid pressure from increasing excessively within the closed portion.
