  • Patent number: 5781179
Abstract: A command for application program is generated based on both a movement of a cursor on a display unit depending upon operation of a pointing device and a voice produced in parallel to the operation when the pointing device is operated to select an object being displayed on the display unit connected to a computer. Particularly, if a moving speed of the cursor in a region of the object has a local minimum value which is less than a predetermined speed, the object is selected as a referent candidate for the voice containing a demonstrative word. If a plurality of referent candidates each having the local minimum value less than the predetermined speed are present for the voice containing the demonstrative word, such object is recognized as a referent for the voice that a time period during when the cursor moves in a region overlaps at maximum with a time period during when the voice is produced.

  • Patent number: 5732188
Abstract: In a CELP coding scheme, p-order LPC coefficients of an input signal are transformed into n-order LPC cepctrum coefficients c.sub.j (S.sub.2), which are modified into n-order modified LPC cepstrum coefficients c.sub.j ' (S.sub.3). Log power spectral envelopes of the input signal and a masking function suited thereto are calculated (FIGS. 3B, C), then they are subjected to inverse Fourier transform to obtain n-order LPC cepstrum coefficients, respectively, (FIGS. 3D, E), then the relationship between corresponding orders of the LPC cepstrum coefficients is calculated, and the modification in step S.sub.3 is carried out on the basis of the relationship. The modified coefficients c.sub.j are inversely transformed by the method of least squares into m-order LPC coefficients for use as filter coefficients of a perceptual weighting filter. This concept is applicable to a postfilter as well.

  • Patent number: 5640198
Abstract: Communication between an image-information storage device and a terminal is made possible even in a case where they have images of different image formats. An image data delivery request, transmitted from any of a plurality of terminals and received by a receiving portion, includes information indicating that the terminal has a source format of CIF or QCIF. This information is transferred to a communication control portion which informs the source format control portion of the source format (CIF or QCIF of) the terminal. When the terminal has the CIF source format, the required data transmitted from an image-information storage device are transmitted through a transmitter portion to the terminal. When the terminal has the QCIF source format, a part of the image data transferred from the image-information storage device is extracted and converted into data of QCIF format by the source format control portion.
