Abstract: A pacing unit is disclosed. The pacing unit incorporates a catheter with pacing electrodes and leads extending from the pacing electrodes through the body of the catheter, a catheter holder for holding the catheter, and a pacer. Into the pacer, the connector plugs of the leads are plugged with the catheter holder fixedly attached to the pacer by interlocking means consisting of members fitting in respect to each other.
Abstract: Disclosed is a magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support and a magnetic layer composed mainly of a ferromagnetic powder and a binder, which is formed on one surface of the support, and an optional backcoat layer composed mainly of a non-magnetic powder and a binder, which is formed on the other surface of the support. At least one of the magnetic layer and the backcoat layer contains a compound having at least one >C.dbd.N.sup..sym. < bond in the molecule. When preparing the magnetic recording medium, the magnetic powder or non-magnetic powder may be surface-treated with the >C.dbd.N.sup..sym. < group-containing compound.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a wound dressing having microscopic web-like interconnections and a porous structure of continuous pores throughout the wound dressing. In the first embodiment of the method, the dressing is produced by the steps of heating while simultaneously stirring a biocompatible material and solvent to form a homogenous solution; cooling while simultaneously stirring the homogenous solution to form a gel made of a dispersion of gel particles of the biocompatible material and freeze-drying the gel. In a second embodiment of the method, the wound dressing is produced by heating while simultaneously stirring a biocompatible material and the solvent to form a homogenous solution, cooling while simultaneously stirring the homogenous solution to form a gel made of a dispersion of gel particles of the biocompatible material; warming while simultaneously stirring the gel, allowing the warm gel to cool to form a soft gel and freeze-drying the soft gel.
Abstract: A molding material suitable as an optical material and an optical recording medium formed of the molding material are disclosed. The molding material comprises a hydrogenated product of a polymer formed by ring-opening polymerization of a norbornene-type monomer, the hydrogenated product having a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 20,000 to 50,000, a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 40,000 to 80,000 and a molecular distribution (Mw/Mn) of not more than 2.5 and having a volatile content of not more than 0.3% by weight.
Abstract: An unsaturated nitrile/conjugated diene copolymer rubber is prepared by an aqueous suspension polymerization of a monomer mixture of a conjugated diene monomer, a nitrile group-containing unsaturated monomer and an optional copolymerizable monomer. The suspension polymerization is carried out in an aqueous medium in a reactor provided with an agitating element under the following conditions:(1) the water/monomer mixture weight ratio is from 0.1 to 4,(2) 0.01 to 5 weight parts, per 100 weight parts of the monomer mixture, of a dispersing agent is used, and(3) the agitating element is rotated under conditions such that the speed (U m/sec) of the tip thereof, expressed by the formula: U=.pi..times.D.times.n, is from 1 to 20, wherein D is diameter (m) of the rotation circle of the agitating element and n is number of revolutions (per second) of the agitating element.
Abstract: Described herein is an oily, transparent reaction product which is prepared by heat treating at 110.degree.-220.degree. C. a dicyclopentadiene and a vinyl aromatic compound. This reaction product can be polymerized by ring-opening in presence or absence of a norbornene monomer to produce a thermoset polymer. Freezing point of the reaction product is below 10.degree. C.
Abstract: The invention herein is directed to article and process for making it. The article is characterized by a substrate composed of a ring-opened polymer of a norbornene-type monomer having tricyclic or higher cyclic structure and a polymer sheet tenaciously adhering to the substrate. The process includes the steps of positioning the polymer sheet in a mold, flowing the monomer in a liquid state in a plurality of streams into the mold, polymerizing the monomer in the mold by ring-opening of the monomer, and removing the article from the mold with the polymer sheet on at least one outer surface thereof.

Abstract: A method of treating polyester fibers, which comprises(1) treating the polyester fibers with an adhesive composition (AR) comprising a latex (A) of a vinylpyridine/conjugated diene copolymer having a vinylpyridine unit content of at least 20% by weight but not more than 70% by weight and a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin as main components, and(2) further treating it with an adhesive composition (BR) comprising a latex (B) of a ntirile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber having an iodine number of not more than 120 and a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin as main components. A composite obtained by bonding the treated polyester fibers to a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber by vulcanization has high initial and heat-resistant adhesion strength, and is useful for production of timing belts and polyribbed belts.

Abstract: A process for producing an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carbonyl compound represented by formula (II): ##STR1## which includes subjecting an alkenyl ester represented by formula (I): ##STR2## and an allyl type carbonic ester to catalytic reaction in the presence of a platinum group metal compound catalyst without the necessity of an organotin alkoxide. Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing laminated glass wherein a film-forming plastisol is coated on a surface of a first glass plate to form a layer of the plastisol so that the thickness of the layer may monotonically vary; a second glass plate which has been heated at least at its peripheral portions is brought in contact with the layer of the plastisol first at a portion where the layer is the thickest and thereafter at portions where the layer is thinner, thereby gradually laminating the glass plates to each other while causing the plastisol to lose its fluidity at portions where is comes in contact with the heated second glass plate; and the laminated glass plates is heated under pressure so that the plastisol gelates. The process and apparatus are productive of laminated glass of high quality in high productivity.

Abstract: A deodorant carrying urethane foam contains a chemically-reactive deodorant distributed uniformly therein wherein weight loss of said deodorant is not more than 15% when kept at atmospheric pressure and 150.degree. C. for 1 hr. The process of preparing the above-mentioned deodorant carrying urethane foam comprises adding a chemically-reactive deodorant to a urethane foam composition with mixing to permit said deodorant to be uniformly distributed therein, and then causing the resultant mixture to react and produce a foam.

Abstract: The present invention provides a hydrogenated polycyclic norbornene ring-opening polymer which is excellent in heat resistance, optical characteristics and processability which comprises recurring units represented by the following formula [I] and [II] or these recurring units substituted with alkyl in an amount of at least 10 mol % based on total polymer units and has an intrinsic viscosity [.eta.] of 0.01-20 dl/g measured in toluene at 25.degree.
