  • Patent number: 5797374
Abstract: A pressure control valve includes a downstream pressure control valve disposed between a fuel pipe and a fuel rail. An opening-closing valve can be integrally formed with the downstream pressure control valve. A relief valve can be disposed to bypass the downstream pressure control valve. The downstream pressure control valve opens or closes the fuel passage leading to the fuel rail so that fuel pressure in the fuel rail is maintained at a predetermined value. When the engine is stopped, the fuel passage is closed to decrease leakage of fuel from the fuel injector. When the fuel pump is again operated, the by-pass relief valve is opened by the pressure of fuel in the fuel pipe. Thus, fuel is supplied from an upstream side to a downstream side and fuel pressure in the fuel rail is increased rapidly for engine re-start.

  • Patent number: 5798628
Abstract: An inverter control system for operating an induction motor calculates the primary magnetic flux vector and instantaneous torque value from the primary terminal voltage and primary current of the motor and produces a voltage vector to be delivered to the PWM inverter depending on the deviations of primary flux vector and instantaneous torque value from their command values and the phase angle of primary flux vector, with the switching of voltage vector being controlled so that the PWM inverter operates in a prescribed range of switching frequency irrespective of the period of calculation of the primary flux vector and instantaneous torque value. Setting the upper limit of switching frequency reduces the heat generation of the PWM inverter, allowing it to suffice with a smaller cooling device, and setting the lower limit of switching frequency reduces the magnetic noise and torque fluctuation of the motor.

  • Patent number: 5798550
Abstract: The present invention involves a vertical type semiconductor device whereby miniaturization and lowered ON resistance of a cell within the device can be achieved without impairing the functioning of the device. The line width of the gate electrode is made smaller to meeting the demand for miniaturization of the cell while the distance between the channel regions which are diffused into the portions below the gate during double diffusion remains virtually equal to that in the device of larger cell size having a low J.sub.FET resistance component. While the width of the gate electrode is set to be smaller, the mask members used during double diffusion are attached to the side walls of the gate electrode, where their width allows the source region to diffuse to the portion under the gate. Accordingly, miniaturization and lowered ON resistance of the cell can be achieved without impairing the functioning of the device.

  • Patent number: 5796309
Abstract: A detector for a portable telephone or the like samples RF transmit power, detects the sampled signal using a Schottky diode and uses a logarithmic amplifier to apply a compressive function to the post-detection signal. The compressive function emphasizes power level changes at the low end of the transmission spectrum and de-emphasizes power level changes at the high end of the transmission spectrum. In this way, the range of detected powers required to be processed by subsequent circuitry is reduced, thereby simplifying the design of the circuit. To improve stability of the detector with respect to temperature fluctuations, the semiconductor element in the amplifier which provides its logarithmic characteristics is temperature-compensated, as is the detector diode.

  • Patent number: 5794839
Abstract: A material and method for bonding a semiconductor device to a pedestal, which can obtain a sufficient bonding strength and stable electric contact, are disclosed. On an n-type electrode constituting an ohmic electrode for a semiconductor laser device are formed a Ni layer and an Au-Sn solder layer. Then, the solder layer is melted and bonded to a heat sink provided with Au-plating. The film thickness of the Ni layer is set to approximately 500 .ANG. or more. When the solder layer is melted, Ni in the Ni layer diffuses into the solder layer and Sn in the solder layer diffuses into the Ni layer. By this mutual diffusion, bonding strength and wettability between the semiconductor device and pedestal can be improved. In addition, by setting the composition ratio of Ni layer to the Au-Sn solder layer to 1.3 wt % or more and under 10 wt %, bonding can be performed at a lower melting point and concurrently a higher bonding strength can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5793144
Abstract: The present invention prevents the degradation of the power generating efficiency of an alternating current generator by preventing the expansion of an air gap formed between pole cores and a stator core, achieves low-noise operation by preventing generation of high-frequency impact magnetic noise, and makes it possible to relieve strains applied on a magnet holder. The present invention utilizes sixteen magnets, each of which fits between two of sixteen claw-like magnetic poles formed on the outer periphery of Lundell-type pole cores, which rotates integrally with a shaft. The magnets are caught and stopped by a magnet holder which has been formed by interconnecting zig-zagging segments and has elasticity as a whole. Here, the permanent magnets are held by the magnet holder so that the magnet holder does not protrude towards the rotor side from the outer peripheral face of the Lundell-type pole cores and the contacting faces of the magnet holder contact the outer faces of the permanent magnets.

  • Patent number: 5791039
Abstract: A magnetic clutch includes a rotor and an armature facing to each other for establishing a coupling connection. A serpentine magnetic circuit is formed in the rotor and the armature. A method for manufacturing a rotor of a magnetic clutch of the invention comprises the step of deforming a single ring-shaped plate of a magnetic material, by a plastic deformation process such as cold forging, into a ring-shaped element comprising generally concentric inner and outer cylindrical walls, and a ring-shaped bottom wall. Prior to or after or simultaneously with this step, ring grooves are formed on the bottom wall. A nonmagnetic material is then filled in the ring grooves, and the bottom surface of the bottom wall is cut to form a friction surface. By this cutting, the nonmagnetic material is exposed at the friction surface.
