  • Patent number: 5785032
Abstract: A cover for a fuel tank opening is molded with insulating resin and a plurality of terminal pins is directly inserted thereinto. A lower housing portion, made of conductive resin and containing a fuel filter element, is weld-connected to the fuel tank side of the cover. A fuel pump is held under the cover. When electricity is supplied to the fuel pump via an electric connector, fuel is discharged from the fuel pump and this discharged fuel is filtered by a fuel filter. Static electricity generated in the fuel filter dissipates through the lower housing portion made of conductive resin. This construction enables suppression of electrostatic voltage generated in the fuel filter. Moreover, a plurality of connector terminals are directly inserted into the upper housing cover portion of the fuel filter housing at the time of molding, which can therefore supply electric power to the fuel pump with a simplified construction.

  • Patent number: 5785025
Abstract: In a fuel supply system employing a returnless fuel pipe arrangement, a relief valve is provided at a discharge side of a fuel pump. The relief valve is opened when fuel pressure in the fuel pipe arrangement becomes no less than a system protective pressure, so as to relieve the fuel pressure to protect the system. The relief valve is also arranged to be open when the fuel pressure in the fuel pipe arrangement becomes higher than a target fuel pressure by a predetermined value or when the fuel cut is performed. Thus, the fuel pressure in the fuel pipe arrangement is lowered. Thereafter, when the fuel pressure in the fuel pipe arrangement is lowered to a pressure near the target fuel pressure, the relief valve is arranged to be closed so that the fuel pressure in the fuel pipe arrangement is held substantially at the target fuel pressure.

  • Patent number: 5783955
Abstract: A transistor T26, serving as an output circuit 42, has a collector connected to a communication line B+ and an emitter connected to the other communication line B-. A base current generation circuit 44 generates a base current Ib for actuating transistor T26 based on a transmission signal. Transistors T24 and T25 constitute a current-mirror circuit. A correction circuit 46 takes in or absorbs a current equivalent to base current Ib from the collector of transistor T26, so as to equalize the drive currents IB+ and IB- flowing through twin communication lines B+ and B-. Since only one transistor T26 is used to actuate the twin communication lines B+ and B-, it, becomes possible to completely equalize the drive currents IB+ and IB- in their absolute values and to cause no phase dislocation between these two drive currents IB+ and IB-. Hence, the radio noises can be completely canceled when generated from each of twin communication lines B+ and B- due to change of currents flowing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5780996
Abstract: Rectifying elements that constitute a full-wave rectifier of an on-vehicle alternator are constituted by Schottky barrier diodes. The Schottky barrier diode has on one hand the drawback that rectifying characteristics thereof deteriorate due to the heat generation resulting from large avalanche breakdown current that is produced due to surge voltage, with the result that leakage current that occurs when reverse voltage is applied increases. However, according to the present invention, since the surge voltage is absorbed by a voltage regulation diode connected in parallel with the Schottky barrier diode, the voltage regulation diode is broken down when surge voltage has been applied. Accordingly, it does not happen that reverse voltage that exceeds the breakdown voltage of the voltage regulation diode is applied to the Schottky barrier diode. Therefore, it does not happen that the current due to surge voltage exceeding the breakdown voltage thereof flows in the Schottky barrier diode.

  • Patent number: 5781878
Abstract: An oxygen sensor has a detecting device unit for outputting a sensor current such as a limiting current of which a value is constant even though a sensing voltage applied to the oxygen sensor changes in a limiting current generating region and corresponds to an air-fuel ratio of a combustion gas and a heater for heating the detecting device unit to keep a resistance of the detecting device unit even though the oxygen sensor is degraded. When the sensing voltage is changed to a second sensing voltage of a resistance governing region, a current peak occurs in the sensor current, and a peak current value is detected. Because the peak current value decreases as the oxygen sensor is gradually degraded, when the peak current value is lower than a degradation judging value, it is judged that the oxygen sensor is degraded. Therefore, the diagnosis of the degradation of the oxygen sensor can be performed with a high accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5780953
Abstract: In an on-vehicle alternator, both the magnetic flux variation frequency and maximum flux density are decreased sufficiently to thereby decrease the internal iron loss and thereby realize an increase in the current generation efficiency. The on-vehicle alternator comprises a rotor wherein magnetic pole cores that are polarized by a rotor coil to alternately different polarities are circumferentially disposed on the outer periphery thereof at prescribed equi-angular intervals. A permanent magnet which is embedded within a resin-made retainer body is provided between the magnetic pole cores and has side faces, as viewed circumferentially, which are polarized respectively to the same polarities as those of adjacent respective magnetic pole cores to thereby vary the magnetic flux quantity directed toward stator coils so as to exhibit a circumferential gentle curve.

  • Patent number: 5781168
Abstract: Method of driving a matrix-addressed electroluminescent device without deteriorating it. A display data driving voltage is applied to the column electrodes. A line scanning driving voltage is applied to the row electrodes successively. Before the display data driving voltage ceases, the line scanning driving voltage applied to the row electrode acting as a common electrode for all electroluminescent cells in one column is turned off. Thus, these cells are deactivated almost simultaneously. Electric charges remaining on the electro-luminescent cells in this row do not induce spike voltages on other electroluminescent cells. Therefore, deterioration of the electroluminescent cells is prevented. Electric charges produced when the row electrode-driving voltage is turned off flow directly into a power supply for the row electrodes. This power supply is designed to absorb the flowing charges. The potential is prevented from exceeding the power voltage.
