  • Patent number: 5593444
Abstract: The invention relates to a spacing member arranged between a securing element (fixture) implanted in the facial bone (the cranium) and an extraoral prosthesis, in particular a facial prosthesis. The spacing member comprises a base portion (1) intended to cooperate with the upper portion of the securing element, and an extension part (8, 8') which forms an attachment point for the prosthesis. The extension part (8, 8') is designed in such a way that it permits attachment of the prosthesis in a direction (attachment direction) which forms essentially a right angle to the longitudinal direction of the extension part. The spacing member combines the two conflicting requirements which exist particularly in the case of an orbital prosthesis, namely secure anchoring in the bone (radial attachment of the securing elements) and a more favorable attachment direction (axial) for the prosthetic work.

  • Patent number: 5584694
Abstract: This method increases the precision of the components in an impression system for dental prosthesis of the type permanently anchored in the jaw by at least one securing elements implanted in the jawbone. Each of the securing elements is provided with a distance member whose upper part protrudes above the palatal arch and on which the finished dental bridge/dental prosthesis is then anchored via a so-called gold cylinder. The system includes impression components in the form of impression tops and distance dummies with continuous guide holes and stop members for a guide pin which, during fixing of the components, is guided through the respective guide hole and engages with the stop members of the respective impression component. That part of the guide pin which interacts with the stop members of the guide holes of the respective impression component has a conical stop surface, while the stop members form plane surfaces and guide edges.

  • Patent number: 5565152
Abstract: A method of manufacturing artificial tooth veneer restorations for natural teeth composed of a ceramic core by pressing and sintering ceramic powder. The core is preferably manufactured from a high strength densely sintered ceramic material by copy milling from an impression of the prepared tooth surface to a compacted body, a presintered body or a sintered body. Alternatively, the core is manufactured by compacting the ceramic powder against a body, which surface is copy milled from a model of the prepared tooth surface. During the copy milling, the sintering shrinkage is considered by enlargement of that body. The tooth veneer restorations are given their final shape by shaping the external surface of the compacted, presintered or sintered ceramic body. After the final sintering, the external surface can be shaped before a veneer material is attached to the external surface of the core by firing of dental porcelain.

  • Patent number: 5217375
Abstract: The present invention relates to artificial onlay tooth crowns or inlays composed of a prefabricated core designed for preparations for onlay tooth crowns or inlays in natural teeth. The core is preferably fabricated from a high strength densely sintered ceramic material by copy milling from a negative reproduction from the prepared cavity to a compacted body or a presintered ceramic material. During the copy milling, the sintering shrinkage is considered by enlargement of the copy milled compacted body or the presintered body corresponding to the sintering shrinkage. The onlay tooth crowns and inlays are given the final shape by shaping the surfaces outside the cavity of the compacted or the presintered body. After the final sintering, the external surface can be shaped and a veneer material attached to the external surface of the core by, e.g., firing of dental porcelain.

  • Patent number: 5192472
Abstract: A method of producing an article of ceramic material for replacement of a lost substance or tissue in the human body includes making a model having a contour of the article to be produced and positioning in a copying machine the model and a blank from which a tool is to be made. The contour of the model is sensed by sensing devices and transmitted to the blank. The model contour is linearly enlarged by use of mechanical procedures so as to define a linearly enlarged contour on the blank. After the enlarged contour has been defined on the blank, a tool is formed from the blank which has a contour corresponding to the linearly enlarged contour. The ceramic starting material is applied and compacted over the contour of the tool to produce an article with a corresponding enlarged contour.
