    Patent number: 5154612
Abstract: A device made of a tissue-compatible material is intended to temporarily cover a spacer of a dental implant during a period of incorporation of the dental implant, preferably in a single-tooth replacement. The base section of the device is designed in such a way that it guides the healing of the mucous membrane to assume a contour such that securing of the final crown is facilitated, and a certain possibility of controlling the seam between the final crown and the spacer is afforded. The device is preferably made of an elastic material for good clamp fitting on the spacer, as a result of which the use of paste, dental cement or the like is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5145371
Abstract: The invention relates to a distance member (1) for a tooth implant anchored in the jaw, which distance member comprises, on the one hand, a sleeve-shaped element (5) which is designed to connect with the shoulder part of the securing element (fixture) (2) of the tooth implant and, on the other hand, a distance screw (7) provided with an externally threaded part (8) for engaging in a bore (9) in the upper part of the fixture for anchoring the sleeve-shaped distance element (5) on the fixture (2). The distance screw (7) is provided with an upper bore (25) for securing of a cap (4) embedded in the prosthesis construction. The upper part of the distance member is designed to be accommodated within a conical, upwardly narrowing delimiting surface defined by the said cap (4).

  • Patent number: 5125841
Abstract: A device for transferring the direction and position of a dental implant or its extension element, such as a spacer element, to a work model, includes a base part and an elongate upper part projecting from the base part. The device is made of an elastic material so that clamp fitting is obtained between the base part and the implant or its extension element. The upper part has a geometry which provides for retention in the surrounding impression compound and has break notches so that it can easily be shortened.

  • Patent number: 5098293
Abstract: In connection with implant work on the dentine, a machining instrument is used which is provided with an attachment part for attachment to a rotary unit or for attachment to extension unit, which in turn can be applied to the rotary unit. The extension unit has a thickened central section which is provided with a recess or opening in which an inclined surface is arranged. In the applied position of a machining instrument, one surface of its attachment part is set against the inclined surface of the extension unit. The extension unit and the machining instrument are rotationally-fixed with respect to each other. Moreover, a locking effect is achieved between the extension unit and the machining instrument as a result of a secure wedging effect obtained by means of the inclined surface.

  • Patent number: 5087200
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a spacer for dental implants of a bio-compatible material. The spacer includes an inner sleeve-shaped spacer element (4) of titanium which is part of a screw connection between an anchorage element (fixture) (1) implanted in the maxillary beneath the gingiva, and a dental prosthesis construction whose joint surface (11) is located above the gingiva and which is disposed to absorb the loading of the screw connection. The spacer further includes an outer spacer sleeve (12) of porcelain or ceramics which wholly or partly encloses the inner sleeve-like spacer element (4). The ceramic or porcelain sleeve may, by grinding and coating with porcelain of different colors, by caused by visually approximate a dental cervix and gingiva and, thereby, not contrast with the natural dental cervix color and gingival color to the same extent as does the titanium material.

  • Patent number: 5069622
Abstract: An angulated spacer element adapted is at its one end for attachment to a fixture having a threaded aperture and implanted in the jaw bone, and to support a dental prosthesis at the other end. The spacer element, which is a unitary member, has a first portion with an end surface thereof permitting abutting engagement with the protruding end of the implanted fixture. The first portion also has a through bore aligned with the threaded aperture in the fixture and defining an internal ledge to enable a screw to pass through the bore, abut the ledge and threadably engage the threaded aperture in the fixture. The first portion is adapted for locking the spacer element in a selectable one of a plurality of rotational, fixed positions in relation to the protruding portion of the fixture. The unitary spacer element also includes a second portion for supporting the dental prosthesis on the spacer element, the second portion forming an acute angle with respect to the through bore of the first portion.

  • Patent number: 5064375
Abstract: A holding device allows for tightening of a screw joint in a bone-anchored dental implant without imposing stress upon the tissue surrounding the implant. The device includes a first part which is rotationally locked in relation to the implant and a second part in the form of an arm which is rigidly connected to the first part, extends substantially perpendicularly thereto and is provided with a holding portion which interacts with the stationary part of the tightening tool to prevent undesirable rotary movements.

  • Patent number: 5059758
Abstract: In the joining of two elements of hard material which are included in an implant or prosthetic structure, the elements are disposed towards one another by means of a joint formed by contact surfaces. The elements are adjusted to one another and mutually fixed and welded together by laser equipment. Registering circumferential portions of the joint are exposed to two focusing optical devices which emit laser pulses for the welding and form a part of the laser equipment. The focusing devices are aligned each towards one of two substantially registering, or slightly mutually offset, starting areas. Each respective area includes a section of each respective joint circumferential portion with circumjacent parts on the elements.

  • Patent number: 5052928
Abstract: A bridge for an artificial dental structure is made of titanium. The bridge is constructed from modular elements which are adapted one to the other and are treated for joining together, for example by means of laser welding. In a first treatment unit one or more first treatment stages are performed for the construction of the bridge. Identification data introduced or utilized in this or these stages relating to the individual different heights of the anchorage elements above the dentine and their different relative inclinations, and the positions and directions of the modular elements in relation to one another and to the anchorage elements are obtained and stored.

  • Patent number: 4906420
Abstract: Oral and extraoral prosthetic constructions of composite material with considerable fiber content, and in particular, jawbone anchored dental bridges of reinforced plastic, are made by the following method. A number of mutually retracted tubularly braided fibers (1), possibly in combination with continuous fiber strands, so-called roving, together constitute a fiber system which is packed in a tube, hose (2) or the like which is sealed and serves as outer packaging. A suitable matrix material, for example acrylic plastic, is injected into the hose for impregnation (wetting) of the enclosed fiber system, whereafter the hose (2) is removed. The fiber system is then polymerized to form a finished prosthesis blank in a mold. The prosthesis blank is then given suitable form and appearance by conventional after treatment.

  • Patent number: 4880006
Abstract: An apparatus for studying the bone formation or bone ingrowth in an implant, in response to locally administered test substances of different types, is made of bio-compatible material, preferably pure titanium, and is implanted in living bone tissue, primarily for animal experiment activities. The apparatus has an outer portion with a central recess in which an inner portion is removably inserted. The two portions form, in the assembled state, a bone tissue ingrowth channel which is exposed when the inner portion is removed, whereby allowing examination of tissue which has grown into the channel. The inner portion includes a reservoir for the test substance whose bone formation promoting properties are to be tested. The reservoir is connected to the bone tissue ingrowth channel through a capillary aperture, so-called diffusion capillary, for supply of the test substance without simultaneous liquid flow.
