  • Patent number: 10402046
Abstract: Desired content may be selected from a content server and added to a wishlist or a shopping list. If the desired content is added to a wishlist, a receiving device other than the device from which the selection(s) were received may be identified or selected. The receiving device may be identified based on capabilities of the receiving device (e.g., ability to play music or video). A sample of the desired content may be selected, generated and/or customized based on the capabilities (e.g., resolution, storage capacity) of the receiving device. The sample may then be transmitted to the receiving device at a predefined time or once specified conditions have been met. Content added to a shopping list may be purchased by a user and downloaded to a selected device. The selected device may be the device on which the content was selected or an alternate device.

  • Publication number: 20190200318
Abstract: An apparatus receives information including data for a node of a communication network and an indication of a location for which the data is valid. The received information is evaluated in view of information that is stored for the node. The stored information may include data for the node and an indication of a mapping of the data to grid points of a grid, and each grid point may represent a particular location. The apparatus determines, in response to the evaluation, whether to use the received information for updating the stored information.

  • Patent number: 10250364
Abstract: An aspect of this invention is a definition of a set of reused channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resources among transmission points, which can be lower power nodes, for intra-cell coordinated multi-point (CoMP) operation. Separate CSI-RS resources are defined for each transmission point for sporadic separate measurements to be made by user equipment. The sporadic measurements may be implemented with low additional overhead, and are used for generating potentially simplified CSI feedback to an evolved NodeB that enables adapting shared channel reuse and also potentially making related channel quality indicator (CQI) compensation.

  • Patent number: 9955292
Abstract: The invention is a system and method for computing a result for a location, wherein the result indicates how novel it is for a wireless device to occupy a specific location. After determining the location of a wireless device through various means, a Novelty Index Value (NIV) is calculated for the location, and the NIV is then stored into a database. The NIV may then be subsequently used by application programs to compute a desired result from the NIV. Multiple users may utilize and/or share the same NIV values. The NIV may also be used to alter the configuration of a wireless device as well. A recommendation system is also disclosed, wherein user context is utilized along with NIV values to compute particular results for a user.

  • Patent number: 9906528
Abstract: An approach is provided for performing authentication in a communication system. In one embodiment, a key is established with a terminal in a communication network according to a key agreement protocol. The agreed key is tied to an authentication procedure to provide a security association that supports reuse of the key. A master key is generated based on the agreed key. In another embodiment, digest authentication is combined with key exchange parameters (e.g., Diffie-Hellman parameters) in the payload of the digest message, in which a key (e.g., SMEKEY or MN-AAA) is utilized as a password. In yet another embodiment, an authentication algorithm (e.g., Cellular Authentication and Voice Encryption (CAVE)) is employed with a key agreement protocol with conversion functions to support bootstrapping.

  • Patent number: 9690852
Abstract: Media content associated with a playlist is provided for remote access over a packet-based network. According to an example embodiment of the present invention, a host server provides access to a user-defined playlist depicting media content available from user's media content source (e.g., at a registered user's PC). User-defined playlists and associated media content are managed to facilitate access to media in accordance with characteristics of the media content and/or playlist such as format and bitrate, and as may be related to an intended playback use of the playlist. Media content for the playlists is stored in a network storage device for remote access, with the storage managed to facilitate remote access in appropriate formats, with selective cross-referencing among playlists for different playlist types, content format and content bandwidth.
