Abstract: This invention relates to monitoring and maintaining a network in telecommunications networks which comprise a large number of network elements. These network elements are presented as a hierarchical diagram or as a map display on a graphical user interface. The graphical user interface presents performance information of the network element as a graphical presentation in connection with the network element symbol in such a way that the operator can, at one glance, identify the network elements that are the most important in terms of operation of the network or the network elements most affected by faults. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the alarm situation of each element is displayed as a graphical presentation along with the network element symbol on the graphical user interface simultaneously with the graphical presentation representing the performance.

  • Patent number: 7136930
Abstract: A method and system for minimizing data transmission between a mobile station and a gateway server. The method provides that a mobile station transmits to a gateway server a request for a content and/or a resource located on a web server using a first protocol. The gateway server then transmits the request to the web server using a second protocol that is compatible with that used by the web server. The gateway server receives a redirection message from the web server indicating a new location of the content and/or resource. In response to the redirection message, the gateway server creates and transmits another request for the content and/or resource at the new location. After receiving the requested content and/or resource from the web server or another web server, the gateway server transmits the requested content and/or resource to the mobile station using the first protocol.

  • Patent number: 7136678
Abstract: A portable vibrating device has two electrical motors each having an axle and a weight element coupled to the axle. The axles couple the electrical motors to the weight elements. The weight elements form a weight unit having a total mass m and having a mass center with an offset r in respect to a rotational axis. The weight units are angularly dispositioned to different angular dispositions for varying the amplitude of vibration according to a desired scheme. The angular disposition is controlled by the rotation of the electrical motors. The device may be able to receive messages and to play the by varying the amplitude of vibration accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7136638
Abstract: A method, system, device and computer program product are provided for analyzing a cellular wireless communication network of a first type. For analyzing the cellular wireless communication network of the first type, communication connection condition parameters for one cell are measured, which communication connection condition parameters are derived from signals received by a mobile station from the one cell and from a plurality of other cells. The communication connection condition parameters are transmitted to a network control element in the form of mobile measurement reports. A network analysis functionality associated with the network control element processes the mobile measurement reports and evaluates, on the basis of processing results, a potential of the one cell for a usage in a wireless communication network of a second type, and/or estimated network parameters of the wireless communication network of the second type, like network performance or network dimensioning.

  • Patent number: 7136646
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for performing a location update of a user equipment in a mobile network, wherein it is decided on the basis of the result of a negotiation with an old location register whether to use an identification information obtained from the old location register or to retrieve the identification information from a user database. Accordingly, whenever a fall-back to a protocol version not supporting the required identification information is determined, the identification information is retrieved from the user database, to thereby guarantee that the correct identification information is used in the new location register. The identification information may comprise security or authentication parameters.

  • Publication number: 20060252430
Abstract: User Equipment (UE) in receipt of a session start signal indicating a session frequency to use for a session along with other user equipment uses the session frequency until a session stop message is received and then changes to a frequency selected to avoid subsequent use of a same frequency used by the other user equipment. For instance, when the UE receives a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) session start signal and it contains a preferred frequency, the Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer of the UE could store the frequency of the serving cell for later reference. The UE then converges to the preferred frequency for the duration of the session. When the UE receives a session stop, RRC layer retrieves the previously stored information about the pre-session frequency and requests the physical layer (L1) to select a cell on the frequency where it was previously camped on.

  • Publication number: 20060251256
Abstract: Methods and systems for managing access to a wireless local area network are provided. A wireless access point (AP) may use a unified approach that utilizes an out-of-band channel to communicate authentication key and network address information to a guest device, and utilizes an in-band channel to establish communications with the guest device, and also provides support for in-band setup on all devices. The ability to use out-of-band where possible provides for an increase to security and usability, and the possibility of delegating access from one device to another. The unified approach thereby also provides easy management of guest access to the WLAN.
