  • Patent number: 7962143
Abstract: A method is used to intercept call contents for provision of the contents to a monitoring authority for example the police or security services. The method identifies a network device in a bearer path to act as an intercept access point. This device is then instructed to copy the contents and to forward them to a collection node for inspection by the authority.

  • Patent number: 7961598
Abstract: The invention relates to a rapid response method for the failure of a link between two routing domains in a packet-oriented network. Once the failure of a link has been identified, substitute routes are provided for the interrupted routes by the local selection of alternative routes and by the propagation of messages along the substitute routes. In contrast to conventional inter-domain protocols such as the BGP (Iborder gateway protocol) the transmission of messages and the associated modification to the routing only involves routing domains that lie along the replacement routes. In one embodiment, a network-wide propagation of messages takes place if the failure of the link represents a persistent breakdown. As a consequence, optimal routes are re-determined in the entire network. The invention provides breakdown compensation that is appropriate for temporary breakdowns and prevents instabilities that occur as a result of the use of conventional inter-domain protocols.

  • Patent number: 7961713
Abstract: The invention relates to the representation of ISDN connections, which is independent of the type of connection, in a packet-oriented exchange. By adapting the signaling information, which is transmitted by ISDN connections, in a peripheral adapter, different ISDN connection types can be handled as a standard connection type in the packet-oriented exchange. The adaptation can ensue, for example, with the aid of a conversion table for the useful data references and call identifiers comprising signaling messages. The invention is advantageous in that it involves an uncomplicated representation of ISDN data in the packet-oriented exchange. ISDN connection-related data do not need to be managed in the packet-oriented exchange.

  • Patent number: 7961597
Abstract: The invention relates to a plurality of common switching systems which are interconnected in order to form a virtual switching system. The number of the internal switching system is entered into the numbering of the port of the virtual switching system thus making a standardized user interface of the switching system become available. The port can be managed by a user in a traditional manner. The virtual switching system can be automatically configured due to said type of configuration when a central entity for developing the internal routing on the partial system is introduced, and then, optional geographical redundancy of the virtual switching system is possible.

Abstract: An encoding method and device are provided for a series of data packets transmitted in the framework of a combined streaming and downloading application by a two-stage error protection process and only one unidirectional transmission channel. A partial block of successive data packets is protected against some transmission errors occurring during streaming with the aid of a first error protection process while all data packets are protected against the transmission errors that can remain after streaming is completed with the aid of a second error protection process. In a decoding process, a series of data packets that are encoded according to the encoding are decoded.

  • Patent number: 7953404
Abstract: In one aspect, a method to collect performance measurements a digital cellular communication network is provided. Radio links of the active set are set up both inside the serving cell and towards one or more adjacent cells belonging to adjacent clusters controlled by respective radio network controllers. Controllers are connected to one another in order to act either as master of the active set in communication with the core network or slave for managing directly controlled radio resources and executing requests from the master devoted to radio link set up or deletion. The master radio controller, when calling a slave for requesting a specific radio link deletion from the active set, also sends to it some information about the cause of that deletion. The slave radio controller when receives the cause information increments a performance measurement counter associated to the specific cause and to the specific cell the radio link deletion is requested for.

  • Patent number: 7940745
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, an arrangement and a system for rerouting the useful data flow in a packet network within the frame of a service, whereby the resources for executing said service are provided in the area for action of a switching center. According to said invention, a packet converter is provided in the area for action of said switching center and, within the frame of said service, the useful data flow is carried through the packet converter. The adaptations, which are necessary for rerouting said useful data flow, are executed in said packet converter. The present invention has the advantage that only the switching center, which is responsible for the resource allocation, is concerned when the useful data flow is rerouted. Inter-exchange signaling with other switching centers is thus substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 7941174
Abstract: In a radio communications system, several codes for transmitting messages are assigned to a subscriber station. A transmission power differential is determined between the total maximum transmission power of the subscriber station for the codes and the total transmission power of the subscriber station for the codes at the beginning of a message transmission, (the differential being respected by the subscriber station), by a first one of the codes.

  • Patent number: 7933206
Abstract: The invention relates to a method which is used to adapt link weights or, link costs, for optimized traffic distribution within a communication network. According to said method, a loop is circulated until an interruption criterion is met. The individual iterations comprise the following steps: Routing of traffic within the communication network is calculated based on link cost paths. Parameter values used for opt imization e.g. the link-related volume of traffic, are determined for the individual links by means of the calculated path, and an expected volume of traffic and the link are determined for the parameter having the highest value. When the highest determined value is equal to or less than the valve of the previous step (interruption criterion), the link costs are increased for the determined link. Said method enables link costs and paths for optimized traffic distribution to be determined in an economical manner.

  • Patent number: 7924794
Abstract: A method for centralized radio resource allocation in a communication network including a Network Control and Management System and at least one Base Station Cluster having a set of Base Station Entities to which respective permutation zones and radio resources are to be allocated. The Network Control and Management System controls the allocation of permutation zones and radio resources to the Base Station Entities by aligning the permutation zones of different Base Station Entities and by determining the radio resources to be used within each permutation zone. Preferably, the Network Control and Management System issues towards the Base Station Entities a first message requesting information on the radio resources available including specific information items for each permutation zone.

  • Patent number: 7920787
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting a check-back signal in a transmission system for optical signals. According to said method, a constant proportion of the output in a defined frequency range of the check-back signal is concentrated in a narrow-band spectral range and is determined after a transmission phase by means of a narrow-band detection of the concentrated energy around the spectral range. If no signal is identified during the narrow-band detection, a line interruption is determined and no pump source is switched on for safety reasons. The narrow-band detection of the check-back signal also allows the transmission attenuation of the transmission system to be measured.

  • Patent number: 7903563
Abstract: A method for shortest path routing, optimized for network utilization is provided. The shortest or optimal paths for routing within the network are calculated from initial values for the link costs. The paths comprise possible path alternatives. The number of originally calculated paths is reduced to the set of unique paths (no path alternative), by changing the link costs as a measure of the loading of the individual links, which leads to an optimized loading of the links, in other words an optimized network utilization. The method provides a simple determination of paths for a single shortest path routing, optimized for network utilization.
