Abstract: Systems and techniques for discontinuous reception management for user devices communicating using carrier aggregation. Information relating to discontinuous reception for a user device is received and used to determine discontinuous reception states of the user device. The information relating to discontinuous reception may include, for example, past scheduling information, information received at one scheduler and reporting scheduling information for another scheduler, or discontinuous reception information managed at a media access control layer of a base station. The discontinuous reception information may be used for scheduling of a plurality of carriers used for carrier aggregation by a user device, with scheduling for each carrier being performed by a scheduler dedicated to that carrier.

  • Publication number: 20140308959
Abstract: Systems and techniques for handover management between macro base stations and home base stations. Upon receiving a measurement report from a user device including a physical cell identity and frequency pair associated with a candidate handover home base station, a macro base station transmits a message to a home base station gateway to obtain cell global identifiers of specified home base stations, which may include home base stations associated with a list of physical cell identifiers and frequency pairs including the pair received in the measurement report. Upon receiving the cell global identifiers, the base station identifies a handover target and performs signaling to the user device to direct handover to the target.

  • Patent number: 8861472
Abstract: An allocation of downlink resources is received, which are monitored on l layers for data. A resource-specific bit (ACK/NACK) is generated for each of those resources. From a pattern of those resources is selected an algorithm from among a first algorithm that bundles them in a first mode and a second algorithm that bundles them in a second mode. The selected algorithm is used on the generated resource-specific bits that correspond to the downlink resources, bundled according to the selected mode, to generate l reply bits which are then transmitted. At the network side a NACK reply bit is received, based on a pattern of the allocated downlink resources, a first algorithm that bundles them in a first mode or a second algorithm that bundles them in a second mode is selected. A bundling window and layer combination are determined from the selected algorithm, which gives the resource for retransmitting the NACK'd data.

  • Publication number: 20140301188
Abstract: Delivery of protocol data units or other suitable data or information units in various communication systems can be enhanced by appropriate methods and devices. For example, in-sequence delivery of protocol data units received in parallel from several lower-layer acknowledged-mode protocol entities may benefit from timers and/or forwarding status reports. A method can include observing a gap in a sequence of protocol data units received from a plurality of lower-layer protocol entities providing data transfer. The method can also include starting a timer upon the gap observation. The method can further include preventing the gap from blocking delivery of service data units to a higher layer, when the timer expires. The method can additionally include detecting a forwarding-status report. The method can also include immediately proceeding with data delivery to higher layer, containing the gaps because of the lack of forwarding at handover.
