Abstract: A device (MS) having an electrical display (DSPL) is equipped with a transparent electrostatic diaphragm (ACT) vibrateably attached in front of the display. The display has been made electrically conductive and used as a stator of thus formed electrostatic speaker (TD1). A fluctuating DC-voltage is conducted to the diaphragm and display in order to resonate the diaphragm and produce sound respective to the fluctuation. The transparency of the diaphragm allows a user to see the display through the diaphragm. Alternatively, the similar arrangement can be used to implement a transparent electrostatic microphone on the display.

Abstract: A method and apparatus implement network planning in a radio system in a desired area. To determine transmitter coverage, a vector map describing the surroundings of the transmitter and containing a description of buildings and surfaces reflecting radio waves in the area is used. The transmitter signal strength is measured at points of a desired area. A subset is selected among the points, path attenuation is determined between all subset points using a ray tracing method, and the calculated values are stored in a memory. When performing network planning, a transmitter and a receiver are located at the points in the areas; a given number of the most significant signal paths among the possible signal propagation paths between the transmitter and the receiver is searched for using the values stored in the memory, and the transmitter signal strength is determined at the receipt location point using the ray tracing method.

Abstract: Methods and systems for secured configuration data for a programmable device. One or more memory devices store configuration data that includes one or more configuration bitstreams and associated authentication tags for each configuration bitstream. Each authentication tag is created using the associated configuration bitstream. A programmable device operably connected to the one or more memory devices receives one of the configuration bitstreams. The programmable device uses the associated authentication tag of the configuration bitstream to verify that the configuration bitstream is authentic. The programmable device loads the configuration bitstream if the one of the configuration bitstream is authentic, or may discard it otherwise.
Abstract: A method is presented for implementing synchronization between the timing of a first telecommunication system and the timing of a second telecommunication system. A first counter value is regularly updated at a pace determined by the first telecommunication system and a second counter value is regularly updated at a pace determined by the second telecommunication system. At a first time instant the current first counter value is stored. At a second, later time instant the stored counter value is read. Using the read counter value an operational step is timed so that its timing in relation to the timing of the first telecommunication system is known.

Abstract: The link layer (68, 64) of the sending end of a wireless link (66) is enhanced (10, 74) by providing a mechanism for discriminating (36, 38; 79, 82) between special, critical or otherwise important packets from among a plurality of packets send over the wireless link. Special link layer treatment (42; 89) is accorded to such special, critical or otherwise important packets, while the remaining packets are subjected to normal link layer treatment (44; 86) before transmission over the wireless link.

Abstract: A resampling technique is used to reduce the noise and improve the signal quality in the output of a prescaler circuit (10). The resampling of the output of a last frequency divider stage is accomplished using at least one flip/flop (FF) (e.g., a D-type FF 18) that is clocked by a signal obtained from the input of the prescaler. This reduces or eliminates the noise caused by edge jitter in the output of the prescaler, as well as the effect of spurious signals generated by the prescaler. These teachings can be used in integer N PLLs and in fractional N PLLs, as well as in single and programmable dual or multi-modulus prescalers. Using this technique the current consumption of the prescaler frequency dividers (12, 14, 16) need not be increased in an effort to reduce the prescaler noise, thereby conserving current in battery powered and other applications.
Abstract: A method for validating detected code modulated signals transmitted by beacons of a positioning system and received by a receiver comprises as a first step performing measurements for the detected beacon signals. Then, at least one of the detected beacon signals is selected as a calibration signal. In a next step, at least one allowed range for results of measurements for detected beacon signals other than said calibration signal are determined based on measurements for the detected calibration signal and on an available reference position of the receiver. Finally, each detection of a beacon signal for which results of performed measurements are outside of an allowed range is rejected. The invention relates equally to a corresponding receiver, to an electronic device comprising such a receiver, to a device cooperating with such a receiver and to a corresponding positioning system.

A device (10) that is arranged in connection with the monitored party (A-D) which device (10) includes localizing means (12), means of communication (13) for communication in a wireless data communication network (20.1-20.3), a processor unit (MCU) and a storage medium (16), wherein at least location information (23-25) defining the limit of the said occupancy area (15.1-15.3) is arranged, based on which the current status information of the monitored party (A-D) is adapted to be defined. A terminal equipment (22) that is arranged in connection with the monitoring party (21), and a wireless data communication network (20.1-20.3) as a means of communication between the said device (10) and the terminal equipment (22). The said location information (23-25) defining the occupancy area (15.1-15.
Abstract: In Bluethooth medium rate packets, the access code and the header are frequently modulated by Gausian Frequency Shift Keying, and the actual payload is phase-modulated by a differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying or an 8-ary DQPSK scheme. Guard time and a synchronization sequence are placed between the header and the payload parts because of the need to change the modulation scheme and because of the ease in packet transfer. A sequence having a form of ABA is added to a Barker sequence having a form of BABBAAA for providing the synchronization sequence having the form of ABABABBAAA, where A and B are different states in a binary representation.
Abstract: The invention relates to an integrated digital circuit comprising a logic circuit portion which takes one of at least two different logic states in accordance with provided control signals. In order to minimize the power consumption and to enable a fast start up of the circuit resuming the previous states, it is proposed that it further comprises a non-volatile storage component. The non-volatile storage component takes one of at least two different logic states based on a non-destructive programming, and keeps a programmed logic state for a basically unlimited time and independently of a power supply until a new programming occurs, and is programmed by each change of the logic state of the logic circuit portion. The invention relates equally to a device comprising such a digital circuit and to a method of operating such a digital circuit.
