  • Patent number: 8172653
Abstract: An apparatus and method for automated cutting of the wings from poultry bodies are disclosed. The apparatus has transport units that are arranged on each side of the conveying means, each of which includes a guide rail and a conveying chain. The transport units are arranged symmetrically to the conveying means and diverge in the direction of transport T in such a way that the two wings of a poultry body are moved increasingly away from the poultry body during transport along the separating device. The cutting blades of the third pair of separating elements form a cutting station without a counter-support and each has a cutting edge which performs partial cuts leaving the end pieces of the wings on the poultry body. The lateral guide rails behind the separating device each have a recess to increase the vertical distance between the guide rail and the conveying chain.

  • Publication number: 20120000331
Abstract: A method and apparatus to separate a surface layer of a product in the food industry. The apparatus includes a transport device to transport the product from an input region to an output region and a pressure device to press the product against the transport device. A separating device is arranged in the output region to separate the surface layer from the product. The separating device defines a separating gap between the separating device and the transport device. A substantially cylindrical, rotatably controllable deflecting device is arranged in the output region. The deflecting device has a shape varying in the axial direction and/or a circumferential direction. The transport device is guided around the deflecting device to create a variable process gap to separate the surface layer of the product from the product.

  • Patent number: 7980926
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for the automated processing of meat. Known devices comprise a transport element, a cutting element, a bearing layer for the cutting element, and at least one control and/or regulating device that is actively connected to the cutting element. According to known devices and methods, the meat is displaced onto or towards the bearing layer, before being cut and/or trimmed. Often, this leads to an accumulation of meat, interrupting the processing operation. The inventive threading element reliably ensures that the meat is lifted up before reaching the bearing layer and is guided onto the same.

  • Patent number: 7976368
Abstract: In a method for the processing of fish, poultry or other meat products being conveyed in a plurality along a processing line, components which are to be excluded from consumption are separated and edible products obtained as a result for consumption are checked with an automatic inspection device for residues left behind. Separation takes place in such a way that, in the case of a number of edible products, minimized residues of at least one kind are deliberately permitted and induced for further processing of the edible products, in particular to optimize the edible product recovery. The automatic inspection device is adjusted to detect the minimized tolerance residues, and inspected edible products with and without the tolerance residues are separated from each other.

  • Patent number: 7090573
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing fish fillets includes subjecting fish fillets lying on a skin side to a brief pulling cut in the tail region and a splitting separation by a stationary separating edge which, when the fillets approach, enters in the region of the pulling cut between skin and flesh layers and separates the two layers from each other, while at the same time a pull is exerted on the skin layer. Pressure is exerted on the flesh side of the fillet in the input region thereof against the separating edge, and the pulling cut is triggered under the control of a signal, effected in a few strokes and interrupted again immediately afterwards under the control of the signal, whereupon for continuation of the final separating operation the separating edge enters the region of the pulling cut between skin and fillet flesh layers.

  • Patent number: 7090574
Abstract: Certain farmed and/or breeding fish such as tilapia are filleted after the fish have been beheaded, slaughtered and had their ventral cavity opened. Cuts are made in the dorsal region and on the ventral side in the caudal region for exposing the dorsal spokes and ventral spokes, respectively. Then, separating cuts are made over the vertebral column connecting the dorsal and ventral cuts. Before peeling separation in the region of the ventral cavity, the ventral lobes are trimmed by separation of the ends of their ventral lobe portions projecting beyond the ribs. Peeling separation is completed by peeling cuts adapted to the rib contour and made with at least two degrees of freedom.
