  • Publication number: 20120129526
Abstract: The present invention uses a message with a suspend/resume flag setting sent to the local mobility anchor from the foreign agent that was supporting downlink transmissions to the mobile node. Namely, a transient binding option is proposed for creating a transient BCE state at the home agent/local mobility anchor during an inter-MAG handover, which will suspend down-link traffic from the home agent/local mobility anchor until the transient BCE (suspend) state is cleared by the foreign agent previ-ously supporting downlink transmissions. After the transient BCE (suspend) state is cleared, the downlink traffic from the home agent/local mobility anchor can resume with forwarding of downlink traffic to the mobile node through the foreign agent. The present invention can be implemented using a new protocol application or modified messages from prior registration applications.

  • Patent number: 8184644
Abstract: Within an access services network (ASN) operable for providing wireless access services to an access terminal and including a base station communicatively coupled to an ASN gateway, a new management protocol is provided for managing the R6 communications. The protocol includes a common set of message types that may be used for data plane, control plane, and individual peer applications communicating over the control plane. In one embodiment, a keepalive procedure or process is used to manage the R6 interface between the ASN gateway and the base station by sending keepalive messages through an established data path tunnel and maintaining one or more keepalive timers.

  • Publication number: 20120108182
Abstract: While a mobile station is in a reduced power state, the mobile station determines whether the mobile station has up-to-date neighbor cell information. In response to determining that the mobile station does not have up-to-date neighbor cell information, the mobile station transitions from the reduced power state to a higher power state, so that the mobile station can receive a message identifying neighbor cells.

  • Patent number: 8170074
Abstract: A method of estimating an injection power of seed light injected into an injection-seeded transmitter. A back face monitoring (BFM) response of the injection-seeded transmitter is determined, and data representative of the BFM response stored in a memory. During run-time, a controller of the injection-seeded transmitter, detects a temperature of the injection-seeded transmitter and an instantaneous BFM current. BFM response data is obtained from the memory based on the detected temperature, and the seed light injection power estimated based on the obtained data and the detected instantaneous BFM current.

  • Publication number: 20120087394
Abstract: In some embodiments of the invention, OFDM symbols are transmitted as a plurality of clusters. A cluster includes a plurality of OFDM sub-carriers in frequency, over a plurality of OFDM symbol durations in time. Each cluster includes data as well as pilot information as a reference signal for channel estimation. In some embodiments, a plurality of clusters collectively occupy the available sub-carrier set in the frequency domain that is used for transmission. In some embodiments of the invention data and/or pilots are spread within each cluster using code division multiplexing (CDM). In some embodiments pilots and data are separated by distributing data on a particular number of the plurality of OFDM symbol durations and pilots on a remainder of the OFDM symbol durations. CDM spreading can be performed in time and/or frequency directions.

  • Publication number: 20120087240
Abstract: A switch architecture and method provides scaling through multi-level load balancing of flows across data and application processing planes. An input/output module receives a communication session flow (forward) from a client device and selects one of a plurality of data processors to process the flow. The selected data processor determines the level of processing for the forward flow and selects an application processor from a plurality of such application processors. The application processor generates a session structure identifying actions to be performed on the forward flow and transfers the session structure to the selected data processor to perform the actions on the forward flow. The application processor also predictively generates and offloads a session structure for the associated reverse flow. If the reverse session structure is offloaded to a different data processor, either the forward or reverse flow redirects packets, or is redirected, to the data processor hosting the other flow.

  • Publication number: 20120082188
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for multiple redundant global navigation satellite system GNSS synchronization of a plurality of base stations via a system node that is in communication with the plurality of base stations. At the system node, time information is provided to and received from the plurality of base stations and a system time reference is generated based on at least some of the time information, such that the system time reference is synchronized with an external time epoch reference provided by the GNSS. If a base station is unable to receive the GNSS service, the system node provides time synchronization information to the base station to synchronize the base station with the system time reference, which itself is synchronized to the external time epoch reference provided by the GNSS service.

  • Publication number: 20120064936
Abstract: An uplink power control scheme for a wireless communication system is provided. In general, a subscribing station is located within a serving sector of a cell served by a base station in a wireless communication network. In one embodiment, the subscribing station obtains interference parameters for one or more neighboring sectors of the serving sector of the subscribing station. In this embodiment, the interference parameters are interference thresholds. The subscribing station then controls a maximum transmit power, and thus a power headroom, of the subscribing station based on the interference thresholds for the one or more neighboring sectors.

  • Publication number: 20120066491
Abstract: In a hitless manual cryptographic key refresh scheme, a state machine is independently maintained at each network node. The state machine includes a first state, a second state, and a third state. In the first state, which is the steady state, a current cryptographic key is used both for generating signatures for outgoing packets and for authenticating signatures of incoming packets. In the second state, which is entered when a new cryptographic key is provisioned, the old (i.e. formerly current) key is still used for generating signatures for outgoing packets, however one or, if necessary, both of the old key and the newly provisioned key is used for authenticating signatures of incoming packets. In the third state, the new key is used for generating signatures for outgoing packets and either one or both of the old key and new key are used for authenticating signatures of incoming packets.

  • Publication number: 20120060069
Abstract: There is provided a method of encoding and decoding data using an error control code having a codebook G. The codebook G is a sub-codebook of a codebook P. Each codeword g in the sub-codebook G has an autocorrelation amplitude that is different from and higher than each correlation amplitude between g and each of the other codewords in the sub-codebook G. In one specific embodiment in which the codebook P is that of a Reed-Muller code, using G instead of P reduces the likelihood of the presence of more than one maximum correlation amplitude when computing the non-coherent decision metric during decoding.
