  • Publication number: 20230178985
Abstract: Methods for implementing power delivery transactions between a buyer and a seller of electrical energy supplied to an electrical grid by an integrated renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS) of a RES-ESS facility are provided. Estimated total potential output of the RES is compared to a point of grid interconnect (POGI) limit to identify potential RES overgeneration, and the buyer is charged if potential RES overgeneration is less than potential overgeneration during one or more retrospective time windows. The method provides a basis for the RES-ESS facility owner to be paid for an estimated amount of energy that did not get stored as a result of a grid operator not fully discharging an ESS prior to the start of a new day.

  • Patent number: 11668663
Abstract: Determining a property of a layer of an integrated circuit (IC), the layer being formed over an underlayer, is implemented by performing the steps of: irradiating the IC to thereby eject electrons from the IC; collecting electrons emitted from the IC and determining the kinetic energy of the emitted electrons to thereby calculate emission intensity of electrons emitted from the layer and electrons emitted from the underlayer calculating a ratio of the emission intensity of electrons emitted from the layer and electrons emitted from the underlayer; and using the ratio to determine material composition or thickness of the layer. The steps of irradiating IC and collecting electrons may be performed using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) or x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF).

  • Patent number: 11660410
Abstract: Gas mixture used for ventilation of passengers and crew in emergency situations. Depending on the density altitude, it has 7±5% CO2 at 15,000 ft flying altitude increasing to 17±5% CO2 at 30,000 ft flying altitude. The carbon dioxide improves the bioavailability of oxygen in the body. The gas mixture is produced by additive dosage of CO2 to either pure O2 or to a gas mixture having a fraction of N2 and a fraction of O2. The method for ensuring good ventilation in case of loss of cabin pressure, or generally in case of hyperventilation, involves making the gas mixture above available via respiration masks. The use of such a gas mixture also for ensuring good ventilation of people with limited mobility, if such ventilation is required. The prescribed amount of onboard oxygen for aircraft can thus be reduced and flight routes leading directly over high-altitude terrain may be taken.

  • Patent number: 11651943
Abstract: A plasma generator includes an outer electrode that encloses a first inner electrode and a second inner electrode. The first inner electrode includes a plurality of protrusions that extend towards the outer electrode. A voltage signal can be applied across the outer electrode and the first inner electrode to excite gas injected into gaps between the protrusions and the outer electrode. Plasma is generated surrounding the protrusions. The second inner electrode is at a downstream location of the excited gas relative to the first inner electrode. The second inner electrode forms a second gap with the outer electrode. A voltage signal can be applied across the second inner electrode and the outer electrode, further exciting the gas to generate second plasma at the second gap. The second plasma is spread evenly across the second inner electrode and the outer electrode.

  • Patent number: 11653443
Abstract: A flexible polymeric film includes a reinforcement layer and a base layer. The reinforcement layer includes a lamella and a plurality of columns. The columns are on a surface of the lamella. Each of the columns extends in a direction and is separated from a neighboring column by a gap. The base layer is coupled to the columns and portions of the surface of the lamella in the gaps between the columns. The base layer is less rigid than the reinforcement layer. The flexible polymeric film can be produced by spraying a precursor onto a substrate. A layer of the precursor is formed on the substrate and exposed to an energy beam to form a preliminary film on the substrate. The columns can be formed from a plurality of portions of the preliminary film. The lamella is formed on top of the preliminary film that is formed with the columns.

  • Patent number: 11641177
Abstract: A method for coordinated control of a renewable electrical energy source (RES) and an electrical energy storage (EES) device utilizes a time-dependent forecast of electrical energy production by the RES and a state of charge (SOC) schedule for the EES including at least one SOC target value. A time-varying charge/discharge control signal is configured to ensure that the SOC schedule is satisfied by charging at a rate necessary to meet the SOC target value, while periodically updating the generation of the charge/discharge control signal based upon an updated time-dependent forecast of electrical energy production and/or an updated SOC schedule. A configurable refresh period may be used to limit updates of the time-varying control signal including computation and use of a new basepoint value for aggregated energy supplied from the RES-ESS facility to an electrical grid.
