Patent number: 11592509Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing automated reconstruction of a dynamic MRI dataset that is acquired without a fixed temporal resolution. On one or more image quality metrics (IQMs) are obtained by processing a subset of the acquired dataset. In one example implementation, at each stage of an iterative process, one or more IQMs of the image subset is computed, and the parameters controlling the reconstruction and/or the strategy for data combination are adjusted to provide an improved or optimal image reconstruction. Once the IQM of the image subset satisfies acceptance criteria based on an estimate of the overall temporal fidelity of the reconstruction, the full reconstruction can be performed, and the estimate of the overall temporal fidelity can be reported based on the IQM at the final iteration.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2021Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Assignee: NOVA SCOTIA HEALTH AUTHORITYInventors: James Rioux, Nathan Murtha, Steven Beyea

Patent number: 11588329Abstract: Methods for implementing power delivery transactions between a buyer and a seller of electrical energy supplied to an electrical grid by an integrated renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS) of a RES-ESS facility are provided. Estimated total potential output of the RES is compared to a point of grid interconnect (POGI) limit to identify potential RES overgeneration, and the buyer is charged if potential RES overgeneration is less than potential overgeneration during one or more retrospective time windows. The method provides a basis for the RES-ESS facility owner to be paid for an estimated amount of energy that did not get stored as a result of a grid operator not fully discharging an ESS prior to the start of a new day.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2021Date of Patent: February 21, 2023Assignee: 8ME NOVA, LLCInventors: Leigh Zanone, Thomas Buttgenbach, Lukas Hansen, Philippe Garneau-Halliday, Emily Arnold, Stephanie Perry, Julia Perrier

Publication number: 20230035963Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for producing blends of recycled polymeric material and virgin polyethylene. Post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) can vary widely with respect to composition which includes mixtures of variable amounts of different polar and non-polar polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene vinyl alcohol, and polyamide. Mixing PCR and virgin polyethylene is inconsistent, partially due to variability, and frequently results in a final product with poor mechanical and optical properties. The process described herein of adding PCR to a solution polymerization process provides another option for blending PCR and virgin polyethylene that offers an ability to exert greater control on the properties of the final product, independent of the composition of the PCR.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2020Publication date: February 2, 2023Applicant: NOVA CHEMICALS (INTERNATIONAL) S.A.Inventors: Marcia PIRES FORTES FERREIRA, Marzieh EBRAHIMI, Renee ANSEEUW, Graham LEE, Gurpreet KOONER, Fazle SIBTAIN

Publication number: 20230024922Abstract: A process, a system, and an apparatus are provided for converting a lower alkane to an alkene. Oxygen and the lower alkane are provided to an ODH reactor to convert at least a portion of the lower alkane to an alkene. An ODH stream comprising the alkene, an oxygenate, steam, and a carbon-based oxide is produced. The bulk of the oxygenate is removed from the ODH outlet stream by non-dilutive cooling, with residual oxygenate being removed using dilutive quenching with a carbonate. Subsequently, separation of the carbon-based oxide from the alkene is achieved using a caustic tower, which also produces spent caustic in the form of a carbonate, which is then used as the carbonate for dilutive quenching. Dilutive quenching using a carbonate allows conversion of the oxygenate to an acetate, which can then be used to simplify separation of the oxygenate from water.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2022Publication date: January 26, 2023Applicant: NOVA Chemicals (International) S.A.Inventors: Bolaji Olayiwola, Vasily Simanzhenkov, Shahin Goodarznia, Kamal Serhal
