Abstract: Systems and methods to amplify the response of a MEMS micro-oscillator by driving the MEMS device at its electrical and mechanical resonance frequencies, simultaneously. This enhances the MEMS mechanical sensitivity to electrical excitation and increases the voltage across the MEMS capacitor. Moreover, using a combination of two input signals at different frequencies (beat signal) may be used to achieve double resonance in any MEMS device, even if its natural frequency is far from its electrical resonance.

Abstract: A photodetector includes an anode that is transparent or partially transparent to light, a cathode and an active layer disposed between the anode and the cathode. The active layer includes a nanocomposite material that has a polymer blended with nanoparticles or organic electron trapping particles. The photodetector has a low dark current when not illuminated by light and has a high conductivity when illuminated by light, in which the light passes the anode and is absorbed by the active layer. The active layer has a thickness selected such that the photodetector has a narrowband spectral response.
Abstract: Photoelectronic devices using perovskite single-crystal materials having a narrow spectral response, e.g., with a full-width-at-half-maximum response of less than about 20 nm, are provided. The response spectra are continuously (in frequency band) settable or tunable, e.g., from blue to red, by changing the halide composition and thus the band gap of the single crystals. The narrow-band response can be explained by the strong surface charge recombination of the excess carriers close to the crystal surfaces generated by short wavelength light. The excess carriers generated by below-band gap excitation locate away from the surfaces and can be much more efficiently collected by the electrodes to produce a photocurrent.
Abstract: Systems for and methods for improving mechanical properties of ceramic material are provided. The system comprises a heat source for heating the ceramic material to a temperature greater than a brittle-to-ductile transition temperature of the ceramic material; a probe for mounting the ceramic material and configured to extend the ceramic material into the heat source; a plasma-confining medium and a sacrificial layer disposed between the ceramic material and the plasma-confining medium; and an energy pulse generator such as a laser pulse generator. The sacrificial layer is utilized to form plasma between the ceramic material and the plasma-confining medium.

Abstract: A wind turbine generator fault detection method is described. The method includes acquiring current data from a wind turbine generator during operation, determining frequency demodulated signals and amplitude demodulated signals by frequency demodulating and amplitude demodulating the current data, resampling the frequency and amplitude demodulated signals corresponding to the current data, monitoring a frequency spectra of the resampled frequency and amplitude demodulated signals corresponding to the current data to identify one or more excitations in the frequency spectra. In response to identifying one or more excitations in the frequency spectra at one or more of the variable fault characteristic frequencies, the method includes generating and transmitting an alert that indicates that a wind turbine generator fault is detected.
Abstract: A scalable universal space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) scheme for multilevel inverters is disclosed. In the disclosed SVPWM scheme, the modulation triangle is quickly identified based on a coordinate transformation from an ?-? coordinate system to a 120° oblique coordinate system. Then, the duty cycles and switching states of the three vertices of the modulation triangle are determined by simple algebraic computations. In a switching period, any vertex of the modulation triangle can be flexibly selected as the start point to optimize the switching sequence with flexibly adjustable duty cycle(s) for the redundant switching state(s) according to specific applications.
