Patent number: 4390486Abstract: This apparatus is used to improve the heat distribution on the cavity surface in foam molding dies where a smooth finish on the resin filled foam molded plastic product manufactured by an injection molding process is desired. This invention improves the method for heating the mold cavity using a condensing vapor in a molding die by a channel and slit type orifice means in the mold around a portion of the periphery of the part to be molded. Another channel and slit type orifice means around the remaining periphery is included in the die for removing the condensing vapor or condensate from the mold cavity. During the heating process when condensing vapor is introduced into the mold the sprue opening to the extruder is sealed by a valve means to prevent condensate from collecting therein.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1981Date of Patent: June 28, 1983Assignee: Ex-Cell-O CorporationInventors: James W. Patent number: 4389635Abstract: An attachment which converts a single station, spring powered, temperature sensitive, fire alarm protection device into a remote signalling heat detector for a central fire alarm system, without affecting the internal apparatus of the alarm device or the environmental protection of such internal apparatus. The attachment includes a pivotally mounted member having a shield arm interposed between a magnet and a reed switch, and a lever arm which interacts with a winding key on the alarm device to move the shield arm from between the magnet and reed switch when the alarm is actuated. This movement of the shield arm permits the magnetic force of the magnet to activate the reed switch. The reed switch is connected by wire or radio link to a central monitor. Actuation of the reed switch, in response to actuation of the alarm device, produces an alarm signal at the central monitor.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1980Date of Patent: June 21, 1983Assignee: A-T-O, Inc.Inventor: Edward L. Patent number: 4386695Abstract: A sweep arm construction for a bottom unloading mechanism used to unload generally free flowing material from a silo or storage structure. The sweep arm is mounted to rotate about the center of the silo and undercut the stored material and convey it to the center of the silo where it is delivered to a discharge auger that operates in a radially extending trough in the silo foundation. The sweep auger is composed of a series of shaft sections of different diameters with the innermost shaft section having the largest diameter. A helical flight is associated with each shaft section and the flight on each shaft section has a progressively increasing radial depth in a direction toward the inner end of the sweep arm to provide a uniformly increasing rate of delivery to the auger.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1980Date of Patent: June 7, 1983Assignee: A. Patent number: 4386625Abstract: A valve system includes features to control flow of fuel between a pair of fuel tanks during a transfer operation so as to prevent flow of return fuel from a carburetor back to a previously filled tank. The valve system includes a pair of valve bodies each having two mechanically operated sealing elements therein. One of the valve bodies has larger inlet and outlet ports to control the supply of fuel from the source tank of the system to a vehicle carburetor. The other of the valve bodies has smaller ports to control the flow of excess fuel flow to the selected source tank of the pair of tanks during engine operation. Each of the valve bodies includes a push rod operatively connected to a single motor drive yoke element. Patent number: 4379100Abstract: An improved polyurethane RIM process using a polycarboxy-functional alkyl siloxane as an internal release agent characterized by:(1) Tool break-in or preconditioning with siloxane treatment of the surfaces;(2) Supplying the siloxane to the mix head as a third stream when necessary to prevent undesired side reactions;(3) Using a minimal amount of siloxane that is inadequate for mold release in the absence of the tool preconditioning;(4) Adjustment of catalyst package to counter the inhibiting effects of the siloxane. The use of a bare minimal amount of siloxane prevents excess siloxane from appearing in the surface of the article and causing subsequent paint wet-out and like difficulties. The third stream isolating of the siloxane prevents its carboxy-functional groups from reacting with the prepolymer or with other ingredients that may be carried in the polyol blend.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1981Date of Patent: April 5, 1983Assignee: Ex-Cell-O CorporationInventors: Wayne C. Patent number: 4378063Abstract: An improved belt conveyor for conveying granular materials, such as grain. The conveyor comprises a pair of end sections which are connected together by a plurality of central sections to provide the conveyor with the desired length. An endless conveyor belt, having a plurality of integrally molded cleats, is carried by a pair of drive rollers, each of which is journalled in one of the end sections. The grain, or other granular material, is fed into a hopper at one of the end sections and is conveyed along the bottom surface of the conveyor sections by the cleats and is discharged through openings in the bottom surface to feed bins. The central conveyor sections are tapered throughout their length so that adjacent ends of the sections can be telescoped together to conveniently vary the length of the conveyor and facilitate attachment of the conveyor sections.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1981Date of Patent: March 29, 1983Assignee: A. Patent number: 4375784Abstract: An improved breather system for a sealed storage structure. An annular flexible diaphragm is located within the upper portion of the storage structure and the inner periphery of the diaphragm is sealed to a central inlet feed tube, while the outer periphery is sealed to an impervious platform that is mounted on the wall of the structure beneath the roof. A manhole is provided in the roof for entry onto the platform by workmen in order to repair or replace the diaphragm. The diaphragm and platform separate the storage structure into a lower storage chamber and an upper chamber which is exposed to the atmosphere. The diaphragm will move up and down within the structure in accordance with the pressure differential between the chambers. The diaphragm has a substantially greater surface area than the cross section area of the storage structure, so there is substantial travel between its uppermost and lowermost positions to thereby greatly increase the breathing capacity over conventional breather systems.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1981Date of Patent: March 8, 1983Assignee: A. Patent number: 4372538Abstract: A metal cutting machine has a plurality of tool carrying cutting heads mounted for movement along a bridge which in turn is mounted on rails or the like for movement transverse to the direction of head movement. Controls are provided for selective movement of the heads and bridge. A bridge-mounted plurality of magnet assemblies are provided which, after one or more cut pieces have been formed from a plate-like workpiece by the heads, are actuated to engage the cut pieces and raise them from the remaining skeletal workpiece. The bridge on which the magnet assemblies are mounted is movable to a position remote from the workpiece so that the magnets can deposit the cut pieces at a receiving point. The assemblies may be mounted on the same bridge as the cutting heads and connected to the latter for selective horizontal positioning by the same controls used for cutting. Alternately, the assemblies may be mounted on a separate bridge disposed on the same rails.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1981Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignee: C-R-O, Inc.Inventor: Fredrick J.
