  • Patent number: 11042046
Abstract: Features are disclosed relating to an article such as eyewear customized to individual wearer parameters (e.g., measurements, preferences, etc.), and to systems and methods for customizing eyewear to individual wearer parameters. The system includes an input for receiving data representative of a three dimensional configuration of a portion of a wearer's face and an input for receiving data representative of a desired position where the wearer would like an eyewear frame to reside on the wearer's face. One system also includes a processor for determining a change in configuration of an eyewear component blank to allow the eyewear frame to reside in the desired position, and an eyewear component modifier for modifying the eyewear component blank so that the frame will reside in the desired position.

  • Patent number: 11033062
Abstract: An apparatus is described to divert sweat away from a wearer's eyes or eyewear. The apparatus includes an elongate base member and a plurality of pliable ridges abutting the base member that, when pressed against the wearer's forehead, form channels. The channels collect and divert sweat away from the eyes so that the sweat drips down the side or back of the head, or down the nose, instead of flowing into the eyes or onto eyewear worn by the wearer.

  • Patent number: 11019872
Abstract: Disclosed herein are sports helmets having modular components. A modular component includes an eyewear adapter that is releasably attachable to the helmet and configured to interface with corresponding eyewear in an orientation that permits a wearer of the helmet to see through the eyewear. The eyewear adapter is configured such that, in use, the eyewear adapter enhances the fit or function of the eyewear relative to the use of the helmet and the eyewear without the eyewear adapter. A modular component includes electronics modules that can be mechanically and electrically coupled to the helmet. A modular component includes other functional modules that affect the aerodynamics of the helmet, the air flow of the helmet, the fit of the helmet, or the look of the helmet.

  • Publication number: 20210157170
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a high transmittance eyewear. The high transmittance eyewear can include a lens with a chroma enhancement filter. The lens can have a front surface and a rear surface. The high transmittance eyewear can further include a transmittance enhancement layer disposed over the front surface of the lens. The high transmittance eyewear that includes the transmittance enhancement layer and the chroma enhancement filter can provide a high optical transparency (e.g., a high optical transmittance) for the wearer for an indoor or a driving use while maintaining a chroma enhancement capability provided by the chroma enhancement filter.

  • Patent number: 10976574
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a lens including a lens body and an optical filter configured to attenuate visible light in certain spectral bands. At least some of the spectral bands can include spectral features that tend to substantially increase the colorfulness, clarity, and/or vividness of a scene. In certain embodiments, eyewear incorporates an optical filter that enhances chroma within one or more spectral bands. In some embodiments, a wearer of the eyewear can perceive the increase in chroma when viewing at least certain types of scenes.

  • Patent number: 10925772
Abstract: A passive anti-fogging ski goggle is disclosed. In some embodiments, the goggle includes a moisture absorbing element or material, thereby reducing the amount of moisture within the space between the goggle and the wearer. In certain embodiments, the goggle includes one or more cartridges, which can be received in vents of the goggle and can include the moisture absorbing element or material. The elements can surrender moisture to the atmosphere under conditions within the normal range encountered on a ski slope.

  • Publication number: 20200409183
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include eyewear that has one or more laminates applied to a lens body. In some embodiments, the lens body is constructed from a substantially rigid material having a curved shape. The lens body can have any desired curvature, including, for example, cylindrical, spherical or toroidal. A laminate can include a substantially flexible substrate and one or more functional layers or coatings applied to the substrate. In addition, one or more functional layers or coatings can be applied directly to the lens body. In certain embodiments, a bonding layer bonds a laminate to a convex and/or concave surface of the lens body. Examples of functional layers or coatings that can be applied to a laminate include anti-reflection coatings, interference stacks, hard coatings, flash mirrors, anti-static coatings, anti-fog coatings, other functional layers, or a combination of functional layers.
