Abstract: In a method or device to dry a web-shaped recording medium in a printer, the web-shaped recording medium is printed with aqueous ink and subsequently directed with a predetermined web tension past a heatable body whose contact surface that faces towards the recording medium is brought into contact with a side of said recording medium that has not been freshly printed to dry said recording medium in a drying operation. A first guide element is arranged before the heatable body and a second guide element is arranged after the heatable body, the first and second guide elements guiding the recording medium. The contact surface of the heatable body is substantially flat. A negative pressure device generates a negative pressure at the contact surface facing towards the recording medium. The negative pressure is deactivated in a halt operation, the deactivation process taking place continuously over an adjustable time interval.
Abstract: In an inkjet printer at least one print head is provided via which ink droplets are ejected onto a recording material. An intermediate ink container supplies ink for the print head. A pumping device pumps ink which is then supplied into the intermediate ink container at an ink inlet from the pumping device. At least one current director is arranged at a distance from a floor within a region of the intermediate ink container and is angled such that ink flowing out of the ink inlet from the pumping device flows in a radial direction at an angle of inclination and is deflected by the floor or a container wall of the ink container such that an ink current is generated via which a stirring of the ink occurs.

Abstract: In a device for supplying a printing substrate web to an internal transport path of the printing substrate web of a printing device, a device accepts the printing substrate web from the printing substrate web source. A drive unit is provided at an output of the device and draws the printing substrate web from the device. A buffer device having a buffer reservoir is provided at an output of the drive unit. The buffer reservoir has a negative pressure device that generates a negative pressure in a buffer reservoir. The negative pressure acts on the printing substrate web to pull the printing substrate web drawn by the drive unit into the buffer reservoir and thereby tensions the printing substrate web before it is supplied to the internal transport path.
Abstract: In a device or method to develop charge images generated on a charge image carrier, a rotating applicator moves developer fluid having charged toner particles charged to a predetermined charge and carrier fluid past the charge image carrier. The developer fluid is moved into a developer gap between the applicator and a counter-electrode where it is exposed to an electrical field between the counter-electrode and the applicator. The toner particles of the predetermined charge are moved in a direction of the applicator depending on their charge, uncharged toner particles remaining unaffected and toner particles of opposite charge being repelled. Via a separation electrode protruding into the developer gap, the developer fluid in the developer gap is divided at an exit of the developer gap into a first partial flow adjacent to the application electrode and into a second partial flow adjacent to the counter-electrode where it is discharged.
Abstract: In a print bar system or method in which at least one print bar is positioned in a printing position, first and second drive and guidance units are provided for the print bar and which each have an adjustable guidance unit and a first coupling unit. The print bar has print bar receptacles with adjustable positioning pins. The guidance units and the print bar receptacles are designed such that upon insertion of the print bar into the drive and guidance units the print bar receptacles rest in a floating bearing on the guidance units and are centered and arrested after displacement of the guidance units in the drive and guidance units such that the print bar is positioned into the printing position in the drive and guidance units and wherein the positioning pins engage in the first coupling units.
Abstract: In a method or apparatus for controlling a printing process in an inkjet printing apparatus that has multiple print heads, a line scan is generated to print a print line on a recording material. The individual print heads are individually controlled with an offset relative to the line scan to eject printing ink, print data prepared for the printing being stored in a memory device upstream of the print heads. Print data units to be printed by the print heads are transferred from the memory device to the respective print heads in a same order with which they are printed. The order with which the print data units are transferred is controlled by request commands entered into a FIFO memory, each request command identifying a print head in the order of the transfer of the print data units corresponds to an order of the request commands in the FIFO memory.
Abstract: An electrophoretic printing system is provided comprising a transfer printing station for transfer printing charge images developed with liquid toner comprising a carrier fluid and toner and wherein the developed charge images are transferred to a recording medium. A wetting unit provided adjacent to the recording medium before the transfer printing station as viewed in a movement direction of the recording medium wets the recording medium with a fluid.
Abstract: In a method for processing of a plurality of document processing jobs in a computer-aided document processing system, job chaperone data are generated that identify a preferred job processing apparatus relative to other job processing apparatuses of a same type in a job provider computer with respect to a document processing job.

Abstract: In a method or system for processing a measurement signal to detect a property of a toner mark, the toner mark is generated with aid of an image generation device. The toner mark is detected with aid of a measurement unit in that sample values determined by the measurement unit at sample points in time are output as the measurement signal for detecting the property of the toner mark. A function is determined to describe at least one part of a signal curve of the measurement signal on a basis of at least one part of the output sample values. At least one extreme value of the function is determined.
Abstract: In a method to regenerate during operation ink in nozzles of at least one inkjet print head operating according to drop on demand in an inkjet print apparatus, nozzles of the print head that generate print dots on a printing substrate are activated such that the nozzles output first ink droplets of a predetermined volume in a direction towards the printing substrate. Nozzles that are not being currently used to generate print dots on the printing substrate are activated such that they output at least one second ink droplet of a smaller volume in comparison to the first ink droplets volume. During at least the outputting of the second ink droplet, a suction flow is generated between the inkjet print head and the printing substrate of such strength that the second ink droplet is deflected so it does not arrive at the printing substrate.
Abstract: In a method to clean nozzles and ink channels of at least one ink print head with a flushing medium in an ink printing apparatus, a necessary flushing quantity of the flushing medium that is to be provided and which is necessary for flushing of the ink print head in a flushing process is determined from either a predetermined flushing quantity predetermined depending on a print duration of the ink printing apparatus or from a drive flushing quantity derived from a flushing quantity curve that indicates a dependency of the flushing quantity on an elapsed time for an ink used in printing, the necessary flushing quantity being either said predetermined flushing quantity or the derived flushing quantity, whichever is greater. The determined necessary flushing quantity is used to flush the ink print head.
Abstract: In a method to determine a character width of characters from printed dots in a printing or copying device the printed dots are generated at a location of individual printed elements of a print raster made up of printed elements. In a first raster cell of the print raster a first test pattern is generated that does not cover an entire area from multiple printed dots, and the first raster cell is measured for areal coverage. In a second raster cell of the print raster a second test pattern is generated that does not cover an entire area in which the printed dots are arranged at least in part at different printed element locations in comparison to the first test pattern, and the second test pattern is measured for areal coverage. A ratio of the areal coverages is calculated and the printed dot size is calculated with aid of the ratio. Alternatively instead of measuring areal coverage with respect to the first and second test patterns, toner quantity is measured.
